I find it interesting that Dagan Gera wanted to create an army of Force-Sensitives and raiders to challenge the Empire. However, I think if he had raised his army, he would have ultimately failed; Vader himself would likely have killed Gera one on one, or convinced him to join the Inquisitorius after he and the Emperor had their fill of torturing him. I've been playing through Sekiro with the Resurrection mod and comparing the animations to this game. Something about Sekiro's animation feels so smooth, but this game feels rough. I'm not talking about performance issues or anything like that. But things like parrying or dodging leaves something to be desired for good feedback. At the start of the fight at 1:55, the parry doesn't look like it connected and the dodge afterwards has clipping that doesn't look like like you dodged it at all. In fact, for me, it looked like you somehow ignored that attack til I rewatched it and than realized it was meant be a leaning back animation.
One of my biggest issues with this game is the animations. Everything feels so unnatural. If we can make Kratos or Spiderman's or Sekiro movement feel fluid and smooth, why not Cal with a lightsaber 😢
It's the same thing with sekiro, bosses or sekiro will play the generic block/parry animation when an attack is blocked. You just didn't notice it because there is a massive sword spark cover it.
@@knell18897 Well yeah, that's exactly why it feels good in Sekiro. The sound and visual effects compensate for any technical limitation the parry may have. That's what the op meant by "good feedback".
@@knell18897 I wasn't saying it wasn't there in Sekiro. Just doing things that help hide or blend it, so as to not make it stand out. No animation is going to look smooth unless it's highly controlled like in a cutscene or movie. Plenty of games have animation jank depending on how it's rigged. Let's say you snap someone's neck. If it's in third person, than it can go 1 of 3 ways. First is that the PC does a neck snapping motion, while the NPC has their neck snapped, BUT the characters far enough apart that it's very obvious they aren't touching. The second way is forcing the characters into position, in which case, it'll either teleport or scoot the NPC into the PC's loving embrace. Third is some way of hiding the jank to make it SEEM natural. If the animation is in first person, you can hide A LOT. Being first person with a hand-to-hand animation means you don't have to worry about characters being horribly out of position (still a possibility, just not as extreme).
When I got to Dagan 3 in my play through and he says "How could you let the galaxy fall to this unworthy machine of an Empire?" All I could think about was how if he ever crossed paths with Vader he'd get incinerated in seconds.
