I was told that the monthly $5 coupon would no longer work on digital currency gift cards, which is the main value of the membership today since a lot of people don't regularly buy physical game copies anymore. So, Gamestop can piss right off raising the cost so much AND eliminating that. They're going to seriously sabotage themselves right after posting their first positive quarter in ages.
I just found this out I was going to buy a PlayStation card and use my points and my monthly 5$ coupon and they told me it doesn’t work like that anymore 😭 I renewed my membership yesterday I wasted my money for no reason 🤬🤬 cause I don’t buy games I buy gift cards more

@@Ghost_544 just an update that i was able to use the monthly coupon for a digital card purchase, thankfully. That's the only thing that makes the membership worth it.
Thats a lie gamestop literally built their empire on physical games where they give you 2.50 cents and then sell that same game for near full price. I still buy physical games just not from gamestop. Digital will never replace physical for me and you dont even have any ownership on digital its all DRM which is renting a certificate that you can borrow the right to play. Even after the store shuts down physical games can still be played decades later which is why the retro market is so expensive and gamestop is still in business because they have tons of inventory of retro goods by scamming people like us.

The only thing they added that you didn't already receive was the 5% bs discount, and now your points will expire. No way does that justify a $10 increase. They are peeing on us and telling us it just raining.
And, from what I can tell, you won't be able to use the $5 monthly coupon on digital currency any more. If that's true, the membership is now hot garbage and not even worth its current price, let alone the new price.
Also i just cancelled a preorder and those assholes didnt return my coupons. Something about pro membership policy where you use it you lose it. Im never shopping here ever again

God I miss Electronics Boutique's discount card.. it was like 10% or 15% off stuff in the store.. new and pre-owed stuff.

Dunno that store but over here in the us we used to have best buy gamers club unlocked where you bought a membership like a decade ago and it would give you 25% off everything game related. It was so awesome saving so much on those overpriced collectors editions. Too bad they got rid of it because amazon also got rid of price matching. These retail companies are so scummy nowadays where they dont even give you free shipping

With the 2% cash back in rewards, you’d have to spend $250 to get $5 worth of rewards. So basically you’re getting absolutely nothing back unless you spend over $250…I would not even be surprised if there’s a stipulation saying you have to use your 2% cash back in rewards within a month. Also, you’re probably not getting the full 2% you’re probably getting a return of like 1.9642% because of rounding. 2% of $128.243939202324 is $2.564878784046480 and I only got $2.50 from GameStop so who now I gotta spend the next hour tracking down support…
If you’re not spending hundreds of dollars at GameStop pretty regularly then you’ll probably never see more than $10 in rewards from the “””””2%”””””deal.
So yea, I’m not paying $15 a month so I can save 10 cents, and I really, really do not want to track down GameStop Pro Elite Member Professional Support for pro gaming members because their accounts don’t know the difference between 1.93738% and 2%.
My man... As someone that has had a Pro Membership for over a decade now, I’ll be one to tell you that this is anything BUT great.
Compared to what many of us have had until now and even when they had an Elite Pro Membership tier, the benefits they gave us then were MILES better than what they’re considering to be “benefits”.
NO sane gamer would see this as a good deal for what they’re charging per year. All it is is just a straight up rip off.
This is a Decent deal, but it does heavily depend on if you shop at GS enough or if GS runs good sales to stack the savings
Im gonna quit gamestop membership after it runs out. I dont even shop there much to use the 5 dollar monthly and the extra credit isnt worth it when they give you so little towards trades. Also they are so shady like they add some stupid refurbishing fee if the console you trade in is a little dusty. They literally scammed me when i traded in my ps4 pro three years ago where they only gave me $125 in credit then took away $25 due to the stupid refurb fee and then they turned around and sold it for $700 wtf. I should have just kept it. Also they cancelled the physical magazines and made it all digital. Dont buy membership. They dont even give free shipping.
I just canceled my remaining pre-orders with GS; four orders in total. I'd didn't realize they moved the free shipping threshold up to $79 until I checked my membership on the site. I don't want to lock in anymore incentives to shop there if it will cost me in the long term. Its best I use my points in-store soon and then cut all ties with GS. There is no reason to shop online if they aren't flexible (no in-store pickup options) and $79 means that no standard retail price game is eligible for free shipping, its just laughably bad. I will not be renewing because of the new free shipping threshold, I can't accrue enough points in time with their new method and the $5 monthly rewards have too many restrictions now.

I just cancelled all my orders too. I had an order where i used my coupon for 15 bucks and it was supposed to be free shipping on orders over 60 bucks but they slashed the base price of the 70 dollar game to 55 bucks due to the coupon and made me pay 8 bucks extra for shipping so basically my 15 dollar coupon became a 7 dollar coupon.. i cancelled and they wouldnt return my coupon. Really scumbag move.. gonna return a controller as well. Im not shopping here anymore. They really suck at trade prices, lock you into preorders where you have to go thru the shitty customer service to cancel. The whole company sucks. I cant get good deals for my games cause ebay has so many scammers. Gotta sell locally somehow.

If you regularly buy games it actually is worth it, but if you only buy maybe 1 or 2 games a year it isn’t worth it. But for someone like me who buys probably 3 or 4 every month the membership more than pays for it self and actually does save you a decent amount of money.

Yea they designed it so it creates foot traffic for them. Like you would buy something for that 5 bucks but then they would try to get you to buy something extra. So its worth it to them to give you the 5 dollar a month thing which is nothing. And you lose it if you dont use it. Not worth it unless you live literally next to it.
I currently have a pro membership, it expires January 2024. Will I then have to pay the 25 to renew it or will I keep the old price? And are you able to add a year to it to extend it or not?

@@tlop7535 it's worth it if you shop at GameStop often. Right now it costs $15 until the 27th of June I believe. You get $5 coupon a month and when you sign up you get a $10 coupon. It pays for itself in the first month.

Do you save any money on new games or consoles? I want to buy my son a ps5 but wasn’t sure if it was worth it to purchase the pro beforehand.
Ill be ending my sub. The price change isnt worth it. And even if some ppl WOULD consider it, the points expire date changes is a deal breaker.
The whole point of their program is to reward members for buying by letting them rank up points for discounts. And now that theyre adding expirations and forcing customers to use them when they dont want, backlash is going to be huge. And already is.

Personally speaking this is all great even with price increase but I don't shop at GameStop anymore. I used to go to one that was 10 minutes away from my place all the time but now it's been taken over by these young kids which I have nothing against them but I'm not really interested in talking to kids.
Nowadays for modern games I usually just get my games online with VGP or Play Asia with games those sites that GameStop doesn't even carry. If I do buy used games I just get them at my favorite mom & pop shop as they not only carry modern games but they sell the games I'm interested in. Anything usually retro.
A pro membership with GameStop seems like crowdfunding to me. 💯

$14.99 to $24.99 is a 66.7% increase, then GameStop wants to give you 5% off on pre-owned junk for a pro membership and a whopping increase? No thanks GME! 💪
Compared to what they used to have at ten dollars more past that, that’s what we SHOULD be having as legit benefits instead of this trite!

@@Sandola. yeah, $5 off an item that's been marked up so there's really no savings. On top of that game prices are going up so they're going to revise their prices a little higher. That's even if you use the coupon per month, not everybody's going to buy a game a month.
@@radrob4403 GameStop sells more than just video games. Gaming accessories, PC parts, electronics, collectables, toys. Most of the prices are comparable to Amazon or Best Buy so that extra $5 off could save you money on your purchase.

@@SmashJT Currently like 3 games a week because I set up a couple people I know on accounts and paid for them so that I could dip into those as well! Haha. But as those memberships come up for renewal, I'll just let them lapse. The way I look at it, you get $60 of value for a price now of $25. But, I'll just go back to rarely buying any games.
@@SmashJT It seems like you're the only one who forgot that we had paid less for more from pro membership when they did 10% off with the 5-dollar reward each month for 15/yr. Not to mention, elite membership gives 20% off for 30/yr, which isn't 5 percent off and gamestop sometimes celebrates by giving us the 10% off occasionally. It's not a good deal when you're used to these memberships.
My brotha, none of this is worth $10 price up and point expirations…. Unless you like getting ripped off.
