Bloodborne - Fighting Eileen in the Grand Cathedral (Boss Dialogue)

- I couldn't find a video on UA-cam which clearly played all of her dialogue in this fight so I thought I'd do it myself on my Arcane character, being sure to take my time and let all of Eileen's lines play out to completion.
You can fight Eileen here by abandoning her quest but not letting her die. I did it by talking to her once in Central Yharnam before Cleric Beast/Father Gascoigne and then not talking to her after she moved to Cathedral Ward and never initiating the Henryk quest.
She has pretty cool dialogue, I might start doing this for now on!
2024 edit: I have been asked so this is what my character is wearing:
Hat- Old Hunter Top Hat (found in the DLC)
Chest+Gloves- Decorative Old Hunter Set (found in the DLC)
Legs- Knight's Dress (found from Castle Cainhurst)

Man, this is sad. I never got this ending of the questline. Her mission was to keep hunters in check, hunters too blooddrunk to tell friend from foe, to tell anything from anything really.. In this ending, she became little more than what she was fighting against all along. The hunt truly consumes everyone and nobody stays safe, no matter how the prospects look from the start ("residents" in oedon chapel being another example, despite the incense). At least that's my take on this. Sad indeed..
Eileen is said to have increased resistance to the intoxication of the hunt and blood, making her the perfect kind of hunter to be a hunter of hunters. However during her fight she's laughing and her sense of duty has become crazed meaning that not even someone like her is resistant to the madness from the Blood Moon

WTF!? This is my favorite game of all time. I have put upwards of 3,000+ hours into this game, and I never new you could fight Eileen instead of the bloody crow…..

I missed the questline of eileen and missed the crow badge but when I came here saw eileen standing it was weird but I got the badge tho
Did she give you the badge out of her free will? that would be epic
@@alimosaad4809 If you meet her at Central Yharnam and then outside Oedon Chapel, she will give you the badge willingly as an ending to her quest line. If you never speak to her, or ONLY speak to her outside Oedon, she'll fight you in the Grand Cathedral.
I got this Eileen ending too, but the thing is - I met her the first time outside cathedral ward, where she told me not to go to the tomb, which I did anyway, there I fought Henryk together with Eileen. But after that, when I went to the grand cathedral, Eileen was there, but she was hostile, just like in this video.
if you don't find her in yharnam her questline ends with this fight
Yeah you need to find her in Cenntral Yharnam, before you go to Cathedral
@@itzmrinyy7484 if you load in the area of central yharnam before henryk spawns and go back to oedon tomb, I got the questline to play out as if I spoke to her in central yharnam, even though I only talked to her in this run at cathedral ward

She was too old. Her age caught up to her. But if you fight her here like this guy did it means she went blood drunk and killed Painhurst.
@@cherrycola4476 That's certainly one interpretation... Me, I prefer the interpretation that the Bloody Crow and our Hunter are completely interchangeable in Eileen's quest line and the reason why the Bloody Crow wears the crowfeather garb is because he has defeated Eileen; just like how we're able to acquire the garb after defeating her. And as for Eileen, I think she gave the Bloody Crow the exact same rant as she gives us in the above encounter... Basically, I don't think Eileen went blood drunk; rather I think that this is what the Hunter of Hunters is really like: With no contradiction whatsoever she is both a relentless killer to those she hunts down, and a supportive comrade to those who prove their worth and mettle as Hunters in her eyes...
Then again, I'm also convinced that the Hunter of Hunters covenant is the closest to the original, purist Hunter ideals of Gehrman and that Hunters of Hunters who found their way to the Hunter's Dream were even inspired by him to mettle out "mercy" to other Hunters and free them from the dream. (I've also got crazy ideas along the lines of, "We are Hunters, but the things we hunt are horrid beasts that hunt us; as such there's no actual difference between a Hunter and a Beast -- every encounter in every hunt is merely a struggle to establish who's ultimately the other's Prey.")

@@cherrycola4476 Maybe because we, through our act of helping her hunt down both Henryk and the Bloody Crow, showed her that we are the same? I mean, when we help her against Henryk she thanks us but also tells us that "a Hunter should hunt Beasts, leave the hunting of Hunters to me," indicating to me that she doesn't want Hunters to go down the same path as her. This sentiment is repeated when we help her take down the Bloody Crow; she (begrudgingly) thanks us again, but leaves the option open for us to continue down this path, but only should we choose to do so ourselves, saying, "this too is Hunters' work, but it bears no honour." The reason why she doesn't push her role as Hunter of Hunters upon us may be because she's aware of the fact that, from just about anyone else's perspective, the work of a Hunter of Hunters looks indistinguishable from blood drunk madness.
I think it's important to note that Eileen and Djura have the highest Frenzy-resistances in the game, meaning that they are the ones with the sanest perspectives on The Hunt, on Hunters, and on Beasts, but though their perspectives are similar, their approaches are completely different: Djura shows mercy to Beasts and seeks to protect the Beasts of Old Yharnam from other Hunters because, he argues, Beasts are people too. Eileen, on the other hand, actively hunts down Hunters herself while encouraging them to hunt Beasts in turn, meaning that humans and Beasts are both prey to her. The unifying trait between Djura and Eileen is that they do not differentiate between people and Beasts... And neither does Gehrman: He founded the Beast-hunting style of combat and he "joins the hunt" and hunts down Hunters in order to mercifully free them from the dream...

I came to see her fight since I finished her quest. And because on another video someone said he hadn't found her yet and a dude replied, don't worry, she'll find you.

In my eyes this is the best ending because you don’t betray Eileen and respect her wishes of staying away from Henryk. Resulting in her being hardened by the fight enough to kill the Blood Crow, fulfilling her duty. It’s a shame she succumbs to bloodlust after this and you have to kill her… But she did really well to last until her old age before going crazy. 🤷🏼

I got tired of the bullet spam and just cheesed the fight by hitting her on the stairs
not only is she an incredibly challenging foe you feel awful for having to kill her, this is my first play through of the game and I'd missed my chance to help her out at all.
im at my first playthrough and i only talked to her at the beginning of the game and now shes trying to kill me at grand cathedral, i have not seen her since i first interacted with her, and now i just defeated the reborn one, had no idea there is a questline 😅
@@gabrielf03d you have to do her quest to avoid the fight with her, after defeating father gascoigne you go back to the hunters dream, attempt to fast travel to the lamp in the gascoigne arena and that game will say something like "currently unavailable" at which point you'll want to travel there and help eileen fight the crazed hunter.
technically that fight is "supposed" to be your first interaction with her and from then, it's business as usual.
regardless none of this helps you get the blade of mercy any quicker, which kinda sucks cause there are a few hunters that are quite challenging to fight without it, particularly the three in unseen village.
p.s.
you can pull her all the way to the entrance of the cathedral, hit her a few times and walk out the door until she starts walking back up the stairs, walk back in and repeat until she's dead.
kinda cheesy but she can be an absolute menace depending on your build
@unfortunately_fortunate2000 i tried twice with ludwig's holy blade half a hour ago and she basically killed me in 5 seconds first time, then second i was able to dodge and attack a few times but shs still got me 🤣 ill try your method, thank you
@@gabrielf03d untransformed holy blade with whatever upgrades you like can work, I needed to use the hunters blade though, try getting a couple parries in on her & it shouldn't be too bad, albeit a bit slow.

I accidentally aggro'd Eileen while trying to reach Henryk's rune she trapped in a corner in the tomb of Oedon. I wish there was a way to de-aggro her.
I thought at least she was ok. sad :(

This boss is not relevant for the quest line.
After you found her in Central Yharnam, you find her on the left side, (the door that leads to the shortcut) in cathedral ward. If you have done this, you have to help her fighting Henryk at Oedon Tomb (Father Gascoigne boss fight). Then you have to fight Rom and you will find her wounded in front of the great cathedral. There you have to fight the bloody Crow of Cainhurst, to get her oath. of you have not done any of these steps before, she may be gone (for this run) or she might be blood drunken like in the video. I suggest to get her quest line done because her oath is good for skill focused chars and quick attacks.

@@haisex3 it's like a covenant in Dark Souls. Oaths give you Oath Runes.
Oath Runes are special runes that have a variety of effects on your character, ranging anywhere from new multiplayer options, to changing how your character uses certain weapons, to outright transformation of the player character. These special runes are only obtained from major characters in the game, often after completing a long and involved questline or succeeding in some difficult task related to that character.
Cainhurst Vilebloods - Corruption rune :gives a passive +1 regen effect at low health (under 12.5% hp). The effect will end once you have 12.5% or more hp.
While the Corruption rune is equipped, enemy players you invade or are invaded by, and all NPCs, will drop a Blood Dreg when killed.
While the Corruption rune is equipped, other players with the Radiance rune will be hostile if summoned or when you are summoned by them.
How to join:Speak with Annalise, Queen of the Vilebloods to acquire the Corruption Oath Rune, along with the Cainhurst Hunter Badge and the Respect Gesture
Executioners - The Radiance rune increases the amount of hit points recovered with Blood Vials by about 2%.
While the Radiance rune is equipped, you will be hostile against any Vileblood player you summon or are summoned by.
How to join:Complete Alfred's side quest in which you help him discover the last survivor of the Vilebloods.
Hunter of Hunters - The Hunter rune will boost stamina recovery speed by 10%.
While the Hunter rune is equipped, there is a small chance (~30%) that a summoned player will be hostile to you, or you will be hostile against a host who summoned you. It is unknown what conditions must be met to trigger this if any, but even against players who do meet the conditions for it the effect will only activate about 1 time out of 3. It is generally assumed that players who frequently invade or kill NPCs are considered "Blood Addled". The rules for hostile summons are identical to the ones under Cainhurst Vilebloods and Executioners.
How to join : Complete Eileen's side quest.
The League - The Impurity rune gives a +2% boost to your HP while summoned.
While wearing the Impurity rune, being summoned by another player and helping them kill a boss will award you with a Vermin.
While wearing the Impurity rune, the player can see and summon additional Old Hunter npcs who are not available without it.
How to join:Speak with Valtr and accept his invitation into The League to receive the Impurity rune and League Staff.
The Blood Beast - The Beast's Embrace rune boosts your Beasthood by +15.
Equipping the Beast's Embrace rune will transform your character and make them look like a beast. This does not make your character weak to gems with the Beasthunter effect or resistant to gems with a curse that reduces damage against beasts.
While the Beast's Embrace rune is equipped, the Beast Claw's moveset is completely changed, its damage is increased, and it gains the ability to build up Beasthood even when not in trick mode.
While both the Beast's Embrace rune and Beast Claw weapon are equipped, your character's dodge is changed.
How to join :Defeat Laurence, the First Vicar.
Lumenwood Kin - The Milkweed rune boosts your Discovery by +10, slightly increasing how often items drop.
Equipping the Milkweed rune will transform your character and make them look like a kin. This does not make your character weak to gems with the Kinhunter effect or resistant to gems with a curse that reduces damage against kin.
While the Milkweed rune is equipped, the Kos Parasite's full moveset is unlocked and it gains a significant damage multiplier and range increase.
While both the Milkweed rune and Kos Parasite weapon are equipped, your character's dodge is changed.
How to join:Find and give three Brain Fluids to Saint Adeline.

Why? Why does she say, "enough of this terrible dream?" I can't figure it out. In the Crow questline, she says she's not a dreamer anymore, but that she's taken blood (for her injuries). So, what dream is she speaking of here? I have to think she's just gone so mad that she's under the delusion that she's a dreamer again.
So that means elieen killed the crow of cainherst

For me I went to the first location in yarnham or whatever it’s called and she wasn’t there at all lol I thought the game bugged on me so I kept playing until later on I found her up there trying to kill me
I defeated her. Pushed her off a ledge In the aqueduct lol
Also I buyed blade of mercy do I have to kill her to unlock it
You can also end her questline and buy blades in hunter dream
What a shame...

If you read the description, I was taking my time on purpose to allow her dialogue time to play out since the boss dialogue is the entire point of the video- sorry if you think I'm not allowed to have some fun with my first arcane build ;)
