    This launch made me the maddest I've ever been. I've been waiting for this for years, especially as it's supposed to launch Dream Chaser next. Just happened to be in Florida the night of the launch, it was a clear night and I was close enough to the Cape to see the launch, stayed up all night to see it, and 10 minutes prior, I fall alseep and dont wake up again until the thing reached orbit. WHYYYYYY!!!!!!!

      It's a rocket launch - it's visible for 500km in all directions, all the way up to operational height. And then the satellites are visible in the sky before dawn and after dusk (I'll vouch for that, I'm a satellite spotter). And none of that is susceptible to CGI interference - so if they're proof against all that, a youtube video isn't going to have much effect I'm afraid.

      Yeah, I really missed that too! A shame to see all that expensive, sophisticated hardware just thrown away. If only there were some way of getting a booster to come back to Earth and land on its own...

    Why did the SRB hang on for so long after they stopped giving thrust?

    • @enoz.j3506
      @enoz.j3506 4 місяці тому +5

      SRB have to remain connected for a short while, to allow for thermal stabilization between contact surfaces.after which ,the release explosive nuts, that release the studs linking the SRB can be activated.,not doing so ,would result in a unbalanced disconnect sequence ,which would cause stability issues. Thermal differences ,are very difficult to get right on very close tolerance disconnect systems, especially at these speeds.

    What are the flying particles that appear @7:27 and @7:40? They look like bugs attracted to light, and you can see them at Mach 1+?
    Help me understand what those “bugs” were and why they were so slow

    • @chilkootsailor492

      Basically just little tiny pieces of debris (probably paint) and they look slow because the rocket and the debris are moving at the same speed, and the debris isn't really moving but the rocket is moving away from the debris since the engines are on.

    What is that glowing orb looking thing at 5:27? Appears out of no where, appears to be ignited by something and then starts glowing before the camera conveniently switches, then when they switch it back a few seconds later the orb isn't glowing anymore but departing off into the distance

    • @chilkootsailor492
      @chilkootsailor492 4 місяці тому +2

      It's just the first stage firing tiny rockets off to seperate itself from the second stage. This is to make sure the two stages don't accidentally collide.

    • @brettbuck7362
      @brettbuck7362 4 місяці тому +2

      @@Auroral_Anomaly Absolutely, and, Von Karman himself calculated it as 52 miles. The FAI later redefined it to 62 miles because it comes to a nice round 100 KM in their unit system. It's almost entirely arbitrary, 50 miles (conventional definition of "space"), 52 miles (Von Karman), 62 miles/"100km" (foreign definition of space), all equally so. And there is certainly not anything about the atmosphere that distinctly changes in any way to leave a glow or mark.

Amen!
