Today I had the delivery of the Malm ottoman bed and in the same color as yours, Thank you so much for your amazing explanation. Definitely 100% I will be able to do it, My Lord Jesus bless you abundantly🙏🙏
Both videos (Part 1 & 2) were so helpful for someone like me assembling the bed all alone. I assembled the metal platform first (shown in Part 2) with limited space, set it aside, and then started with Part 1 for the main wood frame. I did compare it to the IKEA booklet along the way, but it was helpful to check progress between the two, and your video gave me the confidence I can do this alone. Thank you!
FOR ANYONE HAVING TROUBLE PUSHING THE METAL FRAME DOWN AFTER IT HAS BEEN SECURELY ASSEMBLED: you need to push down with more weight. for example, the queen size accommodates up to 110lbs so you will need to push down with about 110lbs weight (hence why some comments said it will come down when you put the mattress on top. I have literally spent hours trying to push it down (and hours on the phone with ikea who was of no help) but was afraid to put more weight on it in case I break it as the lifting mechanism seemed to be stuck and wouldn’t budge. However, when I put as much of my weight on it as possible, it finally budged! Unfortunately, was not strong enough to push it fully down but it is possible! I hope this helps those of you who were stuck like I was!
Omg. You're a f*****g legend! I was doing it for HOURS! My wife slept, took a nap, took a dog for a walk, went a jog, cooked dinner, slept again, and I was still not done. This saved my life!!
Thanks so much! Also had the same issue! Thing is, I forgot to install two screws that are at the back of the mechanism that attaches to the bed. It didn't budge going down obv! Haha glad I watched this video and realized I missed a step!
Hi there I wanted to say a HUGE thank you for this video. Your instructions are crystal clear making the bed assembly process a LOT easier and so much quicker than referring to the paper instructions. Happy to say I went on to build the rest of the furniture with confidence 😊👍🏻
Thank you so much for the video, it is awesome, I assembled my Malm ottoman bed all by myself without even looking at the manual. Very detailed and well done. Cheers.
Thanks, able to assemble without opening manual. Only mistake i made was putting the bar which holds the release mechanism at the wrong end. Brilliant videos.
I have a question about the tick washer. They gave me 4 big tick washer and 2 small tick washer what do I do with the small tick washer or do i not use it? Got it from bag 2
I built the bed! Great tutorial. This really helped! I started with part 2 as my room is small. I built the frame and then put it to one side and came back to part 1.
@@moisessilva5933 I ended up calling ikea the very nice lady helped me out and sent me replacement ones. I just think that being in storage for so long made them stuck so you have to put a lot of pressure the first couple of times to get it to actually lower.
Can anyone post a video of how to dismantle this bed, please? I have to move in 2 days and IKEA doesn’t have any information. HELP. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
i bought this bed and hooks are missing, the hooks which support the bed base… i don’t have those hooks so my bed base goes inside the storage area plz tell from where i can get these hooks
hi just came across your video can you tell me if this bed is more black than brown in colour as i want to match it to my wallpaper which is black and white. kind regards
Can anyone who has owned this bed for a few years tell me how it has held up does it squeak? Do the slats come off like the issue the regular malm beds have? Does the metal base start to bend under the weight of mattress and people sleeping on it? Asking as I will be on a very restricted budget and need a bed with lots of storage as will have less space to store things.
Have had this bedframe for more than five years and use it regularly for guests. We have a double size and routinely sleep two people on it as we have a small guest room. We also just moved so we took it apart and have now put it back together. It is still solid with no squeaking and we fill it up with storage.
When fitting both gas pistons arms on ottoman beds, does it matter if the big black end is at the top or can it also be at the bottom as seen on some assembly videos ? I have order one of these bed's, but in the photo's the piston is the other way around, so I'm wondering if I should follow their directions or alter it by turning the piston the other way.
I'm assembling kvitsoy bed which is another type of ikea's ottoman bed. It has the flappy parts of the flip mechanism (the parts that look like wings..) separately and made of very flimsy plastic. They keep breaking when i put them on.. i asked for replacements and they broke again. Do you know what they're used for and are they really necessary?
The flappy plastic on the both side is there to cover the opening mechanism so no one put hand there when you closing bed (just my guess) don’t see any other reasons why is it there.
@@PPFlatPack thanks! I guessed that they had to do with their soft close mechanism cause i felt the mechanism is smoother when they're there. But in both cases they don't seem to be a necessity then

Does it give you squeaky noise when you move around your body? My bed gives squaky wood noise it’s so annoying.
@ yes it does, especially when I make some hard and sudden moves, so annoying. Is there a way to fix it??
@@mouniruvish I’ve tried a few things but none of them worked. I really hate it and thinking about changing to a different bed

Will the boxes fit in a Nissan rogue SUV??
I’m able to assemble smaller items like shoe racks, cabinets, tables and drawers. But I’m not confident enough to build a bed like this.
I built the bed! Great tutorial. This really helped! I started with part 2 as my room is small. I built the frame and then put it to one side and came back to part 1.
Do I have to use the headboard? My daughter's room is so small that the bed can only go against the window, and I don't want to block it.
I purchased this bed but the little black tube things that hold up the bed does not move in and out do they need to be replaced?
Yo this is happening with me, what did you do?

I would say is more black than brown but the best would be if you go to ikea and check for your self just to make sure ;)
hey I’ve been having trouble pushing the metal frame down when it is secured. why is this???
Second part where I will explain the opening part coming up in 10hours hope you will find answer there.
I’m having issues with that as well!
