Just picked up/built this bed today. I gotta say your method of assembling this bed was way more efficient, thought out, and made this whole process easier. I had my girlfriend help me out by sorting out all the screws and helping me place the metal frame on the gas pistons that raise the bed. I was working in a very small room so It was VERY helpful to assemble the metal frame first prior to assembling the bed frame itself. Having a drill also helped a lot. Thank you for this video!
@@Yaqeenan21 Yes you can but not heavy resting ;). If your bed is against the wall good idea is to put somthin between the wall and the headboard than can lean against the headboard without worries.
Thank you...it may have taken us 5 1/2 hours but we got it put together without any major arguments thanks to your video showing us how to do what the instruction booklet tried to show us.
Really helpful, cheers! Your way of doing things is better than the "official" Ikea instructions... for example, making the mattress frame first is so much better if you have to work in a confined space. btw Ikea have released a "new version" of this bed, but the only real change is that the lifting arm is ready assembled so you don't have to piece it together yourself.
Thanks! Same bed just took me six hours to complete lol. Had trouble closing it but a bit of jiggling around and it works fine. Referred to your vid on a couple of occasions. Nice bed. Lots of storage space.
Great video. We’ve just bought one of these beds and although I’m ok at self assembly furniture it’s always nice to have a heads up on any tricky bits. Well done on your very easy to follow instructions. Thank you 😊
@@thefridge1000 Hi. Yeah we’re happy with it. Used it for a year or so now. Very sturdy construction. Most other wooden framed beds we’ve had in the past would have started to have the odd creak by a year into being used but I can honestly say this ottoman bed is creak free. The extra storage is very handy to have and the access to underneath is great. All in all one of the best beds we’ve bought.
Hi wondering how big the matress you use on it, cause went online and sow for king size should be around 50kg and i think the one i ordered is a bit more then that cause is 32cm thick. Any problem with lifting the weight?
Thank you so much for the tutorial - I followed all the steps and the bed frame does not come down.... maybe the black part in the sifting mechanism is defective... is it supposed to get shorter when the bed is lowered? Thank you for your help!
I see similar coments regarding putting the storage place down without matrice. The pistons are very strong to hold the weighty matrices so without matrice will give stronger resistance. I always just push little harder (if everithing assembled correct) and always goes down. Thank you so very much! I'm having to assemble one of these and I couldn't make heads or tails of the instructions to put together the hinging mechanisms. You're a lifesaver.
Thanks for the vid! Does anyone else have the problem that the slatted metal frame transfers a lot of motion during sleep with a partner? Like the whole metal part moves around and the wooden slats act like a spring to transfer motion across the bed. Has anyone discovered any solutions?
suoer helpful, I threw the confusing 'instruction manual' away and just followed the steps on this vid. I'm pretty sure Ikea's trolling us with their overly complicated 'instructions'. Thanks again
Thank you so much!!! I was struggling so much with the metal frame installation into the bed and this vid helped me! Really grateful, but you make it look too easy for us non-professionals! ;p athanks again

Thank you for the video. Very useful. We followed instructions as per the manual but metal frame didn't bend. What could be the reason? Can you please advise?
Hi, I'm struggling with the wooden slats; they seem too long and don't fit properly. Is it normal? Any suggestions? PS I loved the video - very helpful!

Hello, do you have any ideas with the code of those 8 screws from the first part of the videos? I damaged one of them when I was assembling it. Let me know please.
Great video, I have a problem should the holes and fixings match on both sides for the arms I have the male fixing in different holes on both sides, I think this is a error ?
On my own this bed took me over 5 hours to put together, when I finally got to the part where you connect the frame I discovered both of the gas struts that help lift the bed would not compress down and I had to disconnect one end of each of the struts just to get the frame to lie flat until I could contact IKEA the following day. not happy! now I have to disconnect the struts to take them into IKEA to be replaced
angela phillips if you don't have mattress on is hard to press them down. Once you put mattresses on it will be much easier they have to be like this to be able open the storage part with heavy mattress.
I tried pushing each of the gas struts down myself putting my full weight on it and I'm 110kg, neither of them moved so if they wouldn't budge with 110kg pressing down on it then it wasn't going to move with a mattress that weighs less than that.
angela phillips True if you push hard on the opening part should be able to push it down. In your case look like faulty push up mechanism. Sorry to hear that IKEA return can be bit challenging hopefully they just replace the parts you need. Sometime they want to replace whole thing no just parts. Good luck
well if they do want to replace the whole thing I'll be making sure they provide someone to assemble it because doing it on my own was extremely tough!
Believe it or not, when I went to take the bed apart again to remove the gas struts to return to IKEA I decided to give it one more go to see if I could get them to shift (I'd sprayed them a week ago with an engine lubricant spray to see if I could get them to budge) but this time a week later they finally moved and I was able to shift the bed down! Gotta love WD40 it may have taken a week but it saved me a trip back to IKEA!
do you know how much usable storage space there is? I see the frame lifts down into the storage area so I'm curious how much height there is to work with, otherwise great video thanks
You screwed them to the wrong place. Pay attention to the instructions on several pages, not just the one you have to attach the locks. I'm a girl and I assembled this bed by myself. You can do it but don't rely on your logic and just follow the instructions step by step. Don't try to put down the bed before you accomplished the previous steps. I didn't watch this video just because the guy didn't follow the instruction steps. He didn't have to do it because he probably assembled this bed multiple times but for the beginner it's a must.
Thanks alot for this video! Took like six-five hours to get all things together, but it was just me. BTW, wanted to ask, when I've screwed bolts inside of frame it had been deformed for a bit from bolt head side. Is it okay? Guess frame metal is kinda thin, but washers would do the trick.
Thats right the metal frame is not hard enough so is bending little if you tide the screws to hard. 5h is good timing if you dont do this often well done
Yeah that's my first bed which was assembled by me. I've twisted screws well just to make sure all this construction won't make noises after some time :) I kinda disappointed regrading frame metal quality, my weight is about 102kg and depend on season might be a higher due to GYM. But lets see how it'll serve - maybe its enough. My very first purchase of furniture in IKEA.
Dmitry Vorobyov This bed is one of the stronger ones from IKEA you should be fine with 102kg I did few of them and never have complaints regarding build quality.
This is a random question, but is it the headboard needed for support or something essential? Thinking on getting this, but can't fit the headboard. Thanks in adv!
I'm in the same position as you - I have a tall window that would be blocked by the headboard. You can build the bed without it and everything works - it's not needed for support or anything structural. Only thing to bear in mind is that you'll have the holes that the headboard would have slotted into... I doubt it would be noticeable behind your mattress though.
Qais Baraki thank you! I am planning on getting this bed. I have a few questions: 1. Is the bed long lasting and sturdy? 2. Is it noisy? 3. Is it worth getting? I would appreciate if you could answer these questions. Thank you very much
