You don’t see a lot of 1947 Knuckleheads being ridden as a daily rider, but that’s exactly how John Bartman rides his. John even took home the Best Daily Rider award at the Dennis Kirk Garage Build Bike Show held in Daytona during Bike Week. In this video, John gives us a rundown of how he obtained the bike and his build process.
The Knuck originally came to into John’s possession after he found it in a woman’s basement where it sat for 40 years as a chopper. After he convinced her to sell it to him, John unchopped the bike and rode in the Cross Country Chase down Route 66.
John did all the work and restoration himself, including the rattle can paint, which he has done with impressive results. Even being a ridged with a springer front end, John attests to this Harley’s smooth and comfortable ride. The bike is a 4-speed that features a quick clutch and hand shifter.
