Let me run EN/CH to have some good spike firepower to deal with bosses that my weapons otherwise wouldn't quite dent, while still being able to just pop juggernaut and square up to melee bosses when needed.
THIS. Fucking THIS video man. This is the one. Thank you for the consistency in your videos man, but I think you can put down the editing software finally. This is the only video that anyone needs for tanking (until they add new shit lol.) Excellent fucking work man. Thank you.
I really enjoy this as a baseline for a tank build, its so flexible with 3 ring slots available. I found myself with extra trait points I didn't much care about, so I decided to swap the 5% DR relic fragment for 10% range crit% instead, and added 5 more points to barkskin (bringing it up to 9). I felt 5 trait points was well worth 10% crit%. Also, ring of omens is really dope on this if you're the type of player that can't resist dodging really obvious attacks, like you pointed out. You don't even need the matching neck for the full misty step effect, you still get fast roll with simply the ring on (despite flop weight), it consumes no health when not in combat (downside of ring nullified, spam roll if you want), and synergizes well with consuming health during combat so your medic primary perk can refund you a heart charge. Honestly, I like ring of omens by itself better than steel ring for this particular setup. I've been running sub gunslinger, 2 dps rings / omen, mudtooth +25hp consumable and its a great all-rounder (178.2hp). For bossing, I can simply swap omen out for one of the hp rings (empress) and get your referenced 201.2 hp, while still retaining 2 ring slots for dps as well.
I feel like the devs dropped the ball with armor. They wanted people to have more flexibility with armor than they did in Remnant 1, so they took out armor perks so that you aren’t forced to wear a set for specific perks… but then they made damage reduction so important that you are pretty much forced to wear Leto’s Armor if you want decent DR since it’s the only one that capitalizes on it. They even said that they wanted multiple methods to achieve things, but I don’t really see a good way someone can achieve max DR without that armor
Since alot of people play co op in this game they may not realize that they’re taking 10% more damage than you are in these videos. Would be interesting to see a video where you take that into account and see if you can / how you’d survive certain attacks with the added damage
@@TheButcherGorr Damage is split across the whole team but so is healing. Individual hits are therefore weakened quite a bit but If multiple players get hit by the same attack then it hurts a lot more
I've yet to see a build tank annihilation apoc with vicious and spiteful modifiers One of the few bosses that genuinely one tap you if you're doing a carry, maybe even alone. For anyone wondering, both of those modifiers mean she starts doing more damage the entire fight, the other then makes her damage increase higher as she gets weaker. By second stage, even close to half health, she uber one taps you over 200hp by a mile
@@kyvan_unheist8584I'm gonna find out today. My buddy and I stopped playing when we got to him yesterday and will pick back up when he gets off work. I'll let you know...
This archetype combo lends itself to the mutator Transpose. On Annihilator you can sometimes be doing great tanking except you run out of ammo :( Transpose at +10 makes gathered ammo go directly to magazine, no reload animation, then +20% ranged damage buff 15 sec. Any ammo regenerated for your turret past max becomes a gun ammo pickup where you're standing, no frantic running around for pickups during Annihilator. Then, that ammo goes directly to mag. This also has synergy with the turrets proximity ammo regen and the mutator Refunder+10. These count as ammo pickups and go directly to mag. This precludes needing the Gunslinger archetype for instant reloads. Combined with a mod like Hot shot etc, it's easy to rotate hot shot, swapping to refunder weapon, or using ammo pickups generated by relic overflow
Medic + Summoner while lacking two supposedly important traits and a core item... in multiplayer, apocalypse difficulty. I lived through everything without ever dodging. spamming Medic's shield skill and the basic summon from summoner. summoner class was level 4 on reaching the end boss lol. the 35% heal x2 relic was used with the heal share ring. Because I didn't have the relic you mentionned and two of the ring you mentionned. I didn't have siphoner trait but I had Fortify maxed. I had the 5% lifesteal on summons ring instead, the heal share, and two bulwark-related rings. I had 171 HP total (relic fragments were far from maxed). Had I maxed summoner instead of engineer first then I would've switched. but yeah... the core is the same. this build is just so much fun. The only issue is keeping the aggro as you don't have the time to buildup damage so your allies get trampled instead. In my case, my friend managed to dodge and survive thanks to my shield and almost-permanent healing. The relic I used spawned 3 x 35% heal globe around me so I just had to pick them up before 6s went by. I also noticed the healing my friend recieved (with no healing boost from his traits or items) was much more than his total HP (120). If I believe your calculations and the game's way of telling me how it works, then I should have healing my friend for half of 120.. so 60. But instead I healed him for MORE than his total HP. He literaly tanked a constant damage for 4 seconds from one single heal of mine and I didn't pick up the orbs. an attack that was doing over 25 dmg per tick on ME (I had maxed DR and bulwark x4 active. he had less than 40% DR, focused on damage) so logically he should be dead twice over. This leads me to believe the calculations are wrong somewhere or the order isn't right. 70% (35% x 2 due to triage) of 171 is 119. The ring shares half of that to friends so I rounded it to 60. Where's the rest coming from? I don't have siphoner and my pets couldn't reach the boss anyway so it's not that. So why does it fully heal my friend from near death and keep him alive for 4 fulls second inside an attack dealing more than 25 per tick twice per seconds... He didn't use a relic, he had no lifesteal, I didn't shield him, he had no bulwark, playing a slinger+hunter class combo with basic DR... so why? Is the ring bugged and it gives 100% of healing? Does healing my pet heal my friend too, therefore multiplying the 60 of healing to a 180? I just don't get it
A masterpiece video for a masterpiece game. You sir are awesome! Thank you for all of your effort. Your videos have made a huge difference in my gameplay and enjoyment.
I like to add the Steadfast mutator to my Melee weapon of choice to use a heavy attack to skip the stagger of attacks, you don't dodge them and still take full damage but you skip the stagger or knock down which can kill you if it happens in between relics pops. This is my personal opinion however and interested to know what you guys think.
Vash could you revisit this again now with the new Remnant 2 update to armor? One thing I found so far is that Leto’s Mark 1 is actually better now than Mark 2.
Man, at first I thought that doing the math to optimize my build would be annoying overkill and just ruin the fun of making a build. You’ve shown me how nutty things CAN get if you actually think about the build, though, and it seems really fun to achieve godhood. Im definitely gonna need to make that spreadsheet. And learn Excel.
I am still missing Nimue's Amulet, Blessed ring and Dead King's Memento. So I'm currently running a resonating heart build, mainly because of 20 seconds of healing instead of 10 seconds. - 69% DR (nice) - 180.6 HP Amulet: Full moon circlet or Red Doe Sigil (depending on what I need, circlet gives a 25% damage boost + 3% lifesteal, Sigil gives that increased healing effectiveness) Reason I pick those two is so that I can acquire mist step For rings: - Ring of Omens (required for miststep, but also VERY good for regaining relic charges) - Seal of the Empress - Ring of the Robust - The third ring is very flexible, I usually choose between 10 HP, 10 stamina ring or the Dense silicon ring for the modpower (more uptime on song of Aefir) For bosses with empathy I'm now trying to build a pure regen build with Tranquil Heart and Soul Link. On a quest to find out what other rings and amulets synergize well ^_^ Amazing video, I'll definitely add this to my Remnant 2 playlist for flexible tank builds
I like the cut of your jib, you have a fun sarcastic attitude. Keep doing what you're doing. I absolutely hate those build videos who just slap on an image of Darth Sidious doing his unlimited power thing and saying their build is the best with no explanation other than, "LOOK, LOOK, I CAN LIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!" lol So, you've shown us how damage reduction works, how the uber relic healing medic based build works as a summon and melee concept. I would love to see what other builds you can come up with. I'd love to see your take on an optimized damage build that doesn't rely on the "HUGs" archetypes. There's so many builds of that, it's ridiculous.
Mathematically you can out damage HUGS. With Challenger and Gunslinger during his berserk phase. Not during rampage. Only during Berserk. This is not viable for obvious reasons. HUGS simply cannot be beaten in terms of sustained DPS.
@@requiemagent3014 It couldn't hurt to ask though, lol. I don't have a lot of time to play and slap builds together. My personal builds work for me, but I'm always on the prowl for a better build that has a similar playstyle to me. My favorite archetypes is Medic and summoner, but I'll do engineer sometimes too. I love that reaver, he reminds me of my dog when he plays, it just makes me kind of feel like I'm slaughtering things with my dog in a weird way, lol.
@@sicurr1 Medic and Summoner is the polar opposite of a DPS build. This game is not known for it's build variety. Doesn't matter what people tell you. For Tank builds you have Medic/Summoner or Medic/Engineer For DPS builds you have Hunter/Gunslinger or Challenger/Gunslinger Also everyone is using the exact same rings and amulets all the time. This game has a lot of stuff but very little that is actual usable. Same goes for the weapons. You have a few good ones. That's it.
I'm pretty sure the 80% damage reduction cap was put in place exactly to prevent facetanking build like these to work, but I'll say kudos to you for beating the dev at their own game
I know there's a ton of flexibility, here's my take with the template. Small changes for a big damage gain since that EHP/s is only needed to basically tank through a shahala vortex and anyone else you should heal up in between with slightly less moving the needle EVER so slightly off of full tank and adding dps. Medic/Hunter (Hunter's Focus): We gain +40% Ranged and +15% weakspot immediately from hunter. Focused is another +25/25% and relic use extends it, which we are basically chugging anyway. So we're at +65%/40%. -Nimue +Indignant fetish (We lower HP/s for a big +25% damage boost, gain +1 ring flexibility) Barkskin to 7 points Ring options become +1-+2 dps slots in for just the small losses (10 hp ring and bulwark ring is already replaced by amulet DR). Use whatever ring/gun combo you desire. I know full tank may leave people feeling like, yes, they are unkillable, but hit like a noodle. Just some small changes to add over +100% damage.
I still die to the orb attack that annihilation does. I see that you have to shoot them and I assume that is because they would otherwise kill you. I also believe that since this build does rely on being able to regenerate relic charges, it will lose viability when playing co-op with someone using the resonating heart build. Them healing you will greatly prevent you from stacking up the healing required to activate the medic prime perk.
That's an interesting approach. You're essentially gaming the Medic class perk to gain infinite Relic charges. The only thing that matters there seems to be not dying in one hit or getting burst down in a couple of seconds - the Relic heal takes care of the rest. Can't really argue with results. What about healing in the presence of Shield? The Ring of Crisis generates 25% of max HP as shield, and there's a ring that I forget the name of which regens health with shields active at 3% per second. You can still get one-shot through that so it's not the tankiest of tank builds, but it's still an interesting approach. Probably even more so with Medic.

Best videos on breaking down how all the damage mechanics and healing work and yow to boost it .thanks for gerat content and no bs
awesome content m8. By far the best build maker in the scene for those math sorcery.
Awesome work! these breakdowns are great and will help everyone understand and make better choices because of it!
This Video is indeed the best. Plus perfect explaining. Great work thank you
I feel like the devs dropped the ball with armor.
I have a video that shows it works even on light armor. Just gotta play outside your comfort zone from time to time.
This is the most in depth I've seen gonna try this just need the ribbon lol
Subbed and liked. Awesome vid
This and all your videos are extremely informative and ponient. Keep up the good work dude.
This is the type of content all gaming communities need. This, is AAA content. Thank you sir.
Love ur rem 2 videos teaching me alot
Good stuff as always. Keep it up bro
This was a banger 💪
Fantastic breakdown, good math, great video.
I greatly appreciate your hard work
Ok now we need optimization for everything else lmao. Amazing work as always
Since alot of people play co op in this game they may not realize that they’re taking 10% more damage than you are in these videos. Would be interesting to see a video where you take that into account and see if you can / how you’d survive certain attacks with the added damage
It's 10% per player extra right?
@@ashenlion805 it used to be. Now it’s 5% per player. I think when the game first came out it was something crazy like 25% per player lol
Gamemaster's would probably be the way to go.
@@VashCowaiiwhat is that ?
@@TheButcherGorr Damage is split across the whole team but so is healing.
Individual hits are therefore weakened quite a bit but If multiple players get hit by the same attack then it hurts a lot more

I just flop towards him and carry on meleeing afterwards.
Can it? :P
Several builds survive that FYI
I've yet to see a build tank annihilation apoc with vicious and spiteful modifiers
One of the few bosses that genuinely one tap you if you're doing a carry, maybe even alone.
All I can say is thank you!
The master has spoken.
it's really amazing. thx for video
This archetype combo lends itself to the mutator Transpose. On Annihilator you can sometimes be doing great tanking except you run out of ammo :(
Transpose at +10 makes gathered ammo go directly to magazine, no reload animation, then +20% ranged damage buff 15 sec.
I just don't get it
“Anything in this entire game can be tanked without exception” cube boss rolling on top of you checkmate. But for real good video and build.
That, and Magister Dullains grab is also a guaranteed kill.
HOT DAMN!... Thank you
A masterpiece video for a masterpiece game. You sir are awesome! Thank you for all of your effort. Your videos have made a huge difference in my gameplay and enjoyment.
I was like ayo borg picard pfp? Then I saw your name lol, "Ah, yes ofc"
this build + mudtooth's tonic...ur effective health is nuts

I like to add the Steadfast mutator to my Melee weapon of choice to use a heavy attack to skip the stagger of attacks, you don't dodge them and still take full damage but you skip the stagger or knock down which can kill you if it happens in between relics pops. This is my personal opinion however and interested to know what you guys think.
“If u would still like to dodge there ways we can modify this” intersted
Great vids bro
This is how a guide should be made
Vash could you revisit this again now with the new Remnant 2 update to armor? One thing I found so far is that Leto’s Mark 1 is actually better now than Mark 2.
This is awesome
The Be ALL and END ALL of tanking guide builds. 😂
Thank you for all your efforts!
The sheet is shared btw
@@VashCowaii OH MY GOD THATS HUGE THANK YOU SORRY IM ILLITERATE
Dude this is amazing, remnant science.
Cheers, love how you leave the final tweaks to playstyle/encounter.
Lets have a mod build next please 😄 great content
We appreciate the sheer amount of effort you put into your videos. Can you make an Excel tutorial next? 😅
I am still missing Nimue's Amulet, Blessed ring and Dead King's Memento.
So I'm currently running a resonating heart build, mainly because of 20 seconds of healing instead of 10 seconds.
- 69% DR (nice)
- 180.6 HP
Amulet: Full moon circlet or Red Doe Sigil (depending on what I need, circlet gives a 25% damage boost + 3% lifesteal, Sigil gives that increased healing effectiveness)
Reason I pick those two is so that I can acquire mist step
For rings:
- Ring of Omens (required for miststep, but also VERY good for regaining relic charges)
- Seal of the Empress
- Ring of the Robust
- The third ring is very flexible, I usually choose between 10 HP, 10 stamina ring or the Dense silicon ring for the modpower (more uptime on song of Aefir)
For bosses with empathy I'm now trying to build a pure regen build with Tranquil Heart and Soul Link. On a quest to find out what other rings and amulets synergize well ^_^
Amazing video, I'll definitely add this to my Remnant 2 playlist for flexible tank builds
I like the cut of your jib, you have a fun sarcastic attitude. Keep doing what you're doing. I absolutely hate those build videos who just slap on an image of Darth Sidious doing his unlimited power thing and saying their build is the best with no explanation other than, "LOOK, LOOK, I CAN LIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!" lol
So, you've shown us how damage reduction works, how the uber relic healing medic based build works as a summon and melee concept.
For Tank builds you have Medic/Summoner or Medic/Engineer
For DPS builds you have Hunter/Gunslinger or Challenger/Gunslinger
Also everyone is using the exact same rings and amulets all the time. This game has a lot of stuff but very little that is actual usable. Same goes for the weapons. You have a few good ones. That's it.
W video, subbed 💯
-Nimue +Indignant fetish (We lower HP/s for a big +25% damage boost, gain +1 ring flexibility)
Barkskin to 7 points
Ring options become +1-+2 dps slots in for just the small losses (10 hp ring and bulwark ring is already replaced by amulet DR).
