the sound of the "BEWARE" lines were amazing. Sent chills down my spine.
He builds up the excitement slowly, very lovely performance.
Fantastic voice this guy's got.
I absolutely love his energy!
that was amazing! and so helpful i could hear the harmonies perfectly!
Omg the guy who got cast for nicely in my performance acts just like this guy almost o.o(stage wise)
I think he's a wonderful actor... :
He has a good voice!
Really nice performance - well done everyone!
Brilliant version and performance! :) love ot.
EXCELLENT! I was in a pit orch for G&D decades ago & this song was always the showstopper. I'm very disappointed in the movie for not doing any interesting choreo. This version here is great!
This horn part in this is great!
This is my favorite Nicely Nicely Johnson. I've just been cast as Nicely in a local theatre. This version of the song seems a little slower in tempo and I prefer it to the faster version. Is there anyway I could get my hands on this backtrack? Thank you so much :)
Definitive proof that it's more fun to be a bad-person-turned-good than to simply be good.
this is wonderful, he was REALLY good in this role.
I was recently in guys and dolls. It was super fun!
This guy is a freaking awesome!
my school is preforming this play all next week also and i've never seen the play and actually thought that we were doing like a horrible job at it because the notes sounded like the singers couldn't hit the right notes. and so tonight i looked up the songs. us highschoolers, are doing so well its amazing.
I love that song!!!!!
My Grandpa brought Me Here Because He did this Same Song and He Was Nicely Nicely Johnson many years ago, it runs in the family
Yes looked exactly like our musical!
this guy is really good
loved it!! thank you for posting
Excellent performance!
THIS IS PERFECT I LOVE IT AHAHAHAHAHZHAHAHAA
bloody fantastic - well done Nicely .... beautifully 'owned'
That's pretty good...kudos to all !!!!
love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is incredible!!!
Thank you!
I luv this song and im not some old person!
Nicely, nicely thank you :3
Tough crowd, eh?
This is the real nicely Johnson
I like this version better than the Broadway version because it's a little slower and easier to hear the harmonies.
The closed captions at 0:25 are wrong, he's singing "someone fade me", which is old timey slang for betting against someone in gambling.
Gideon Chickos, I agree, sadly NONE of the performances I've seen on UA-cam have come anywhere close to Stubby Kaye's performance, which goes to prove he really sang it the BEST.
Awesome!
THE GENERAL IS AMAZING! i wish she was my gran...
The performance was great I'm more shocked at a lack of a mention in the comments about the fact that general cart right doesn't get her solo here
In the original orchestrations from 1950, there is no solo for General Cartwright. That was added for the revised orchestrations used in the revival from the early 1990s.
Jefferey Weinerslave!! Crushing it, baby!!
you did great good job
this is very good ,
I keep laughing at 2:31 where he kicks cuz there is a breath and the face.... Plus, im nicely nicely in my production, so excited
Great Nicely!!!!!!!
He's from 30 Rock.
Better than the 2009 tony performance
hey my school is doing guys and dolls right now and my friend is great as nicely niecly johnson
1:09 XD
Hey Todd 😂
Doing this song for show choir...
Weinerslav!
Good but the pace is a bit slow.
Jeffrey Wienerslav.
Cut time sections are so sloooow.
Isnt this the guy from 30 Rock?
He should have listened to Stubby Kay singing it for tips on delivery.
Guess I must have a good voice then!
Anyone else notice the chorus member itching his nose all the way through?
Have a seat, you are causing unnecessary motion of the ship
? That's some green suit you've got there. It's ironic because in the song they clearly mention a checkered *coat* and a *tie*.
A vest is called a waistcoat
@AbercrombieSarah Nice, Im Sky Masterson in my school play =w=
He kinda sounds like Jack Black (in a good way!!)
he's the councilor on 30 rock... just saying
Excellent, check out Pfizerpfonics Ireland for a very good performance also
Close to Stubby, but not close enough (good job though)
and you spelt' too' wrong so I gues non of us are perfect
3 people forgot to sit down....
It's Daniel Radcliffe in ten years!
FAT POWER!!!
Oh, this is way too slow.
weinerslav!
TO SLOW
Pleeeeeeease.....LIGHTEN UP ON THE STAGE MAKEUP!
It's because the video was close up. If you actually go to see it they look normal especially if you add in that it's the '20s
I've been to many a theatre show when too much makeup is used and one is in the 17th row and think "too much make-up." Trust me, he has to lay off the make up cake. It's too much
It takes place in the twenties give him some slack.
Jonathan Benn It actually takes place in the 40s or at least the Frank Sinatra version does.
Jonathan Benn *40s It takes place in the late 40s.
Why so slow? It's good, but too slow.
SO SLOW! And such an anticlimactic ending. (But otherwise ok.) Nothing beats the Walter Bobbie version from the 1992 production.
It wasn't bad. His stage make-up looked strange on video, it was a little too slow, and his voice was a little too modern. I feel like it needs to be a little more operatic.
apparently I'm a fat kid now. Huh.
Sit down, you're dragging the tempo
Alex Waddington lmao
Great but cheesy as hell XD
but the passengers know right from wrong.* GET IT RIGHT.
Waay to hammy and overdramatized. NOTHING beats Stubby Kaye's version.
Stage musicals and film musicals are two very different animals. In film you have the liberty of subtlety, because the camera gets close enough to pick up small things. On stage you have to be much bigger and yeah a little hammy sometimes so the people in back can get the experience as well. And I frankly love the rather campy dramatization of stage musicals, it's part of the fun. But everyone's entitled to their own opinion and I'm just glad that musicals still resonate with people in any form they take.
KOLN555 Well said, although microphoning stage actors has helped mitigate the situation to a significant extent. After watching this again, I'll agree that it's definitely entertaining. I think that the major difference is that film cameras can focus attention, not to mention editing techniques and post-production sound mixing.
Pretty average version. Even the 2009 tony version is better.
This play copied Tom Sawyer.
There Is a song in it that has the same title of the song
yes, because Tom Sawyer was definitely about gamblers in new york, falling in love and changing their ways. there's a lot of songs with the same titles out there.
***** stfu thats not what I meant so mind your own business.
Emanuel Clemente Whoa chill out. Someone can't take a joke can they?
***** Uhh yeah I can't a joke bitch so don't comment unless you want to piss someone off.
underwhelming ... he is not strong
How so?
+Parker & Marlie He is so low energy and pitchy! I saw the entire performance and he bored me! I have seen better in high schools just my opinion!
Lance Babbitt exactly, I don’t like how his voice keeps going up and down dramatically. Like way too fast
this is terrible
Huh....I didn't know people like you existed.
WAY TOO SLOW. AWFUL RENDITION BY HUMPTY DUMPTY.
