My question is: How are Dutch people able to speak such good English? In America my classmates and I ‘learned’ Spanish for years but none of us can hold a conversation. What does the Netherlands do right with teaching English?

I really want to speak more in Dutch. What are your advice? I'm a beginner, but I know basic phrases
super leuk video zoals altijd :) mijn vraag is - wat vinden jullie over de stikstof problemen in Nederland? is er een makkelijke oplossing of zijn de problemen dieper dan ze blijken?
Ik vind het video leuk maar ik denk dat de studenten van nederlands misschien een beetje makkelijkere conversaties brouken voor de situaties. Natuurlijk praten de mensen in de straat op een natuurlijke hoghe niveau maar een student van de taal kan het zo niet zo snel begrijpen. Bij voorbeeld is het een goede idee om te beginnen met: "Loop hier rechtdoor en dan de tweete straat rechts. Daarna oversteek de straat en ..." Ik hoop het is goed zo ). Het zou een productiefe kritiek zijn.
Ik heb zeven maanden Nederlands gestudeerd en ik kon bijna de hele video zonder ondertiteling begrijpen, en als er een woord dat ik gemist heb dan kan ik naar de ondertiteling kijken. Als het te makkelijk is, zullen we eigenlijk niks leren :) Vragen en antwoorden aan het openbaar zijn altijd moeilijker om te begrepen dan gewoon gebruikelijk vragen die je regelmatig in het leven hoort.
Waarschijnlijk juist. Ik denk ik was niet juist met de comentaar. Je kan niet verwachten dat de anderen zo spreken als je wil.
Trust me it's better to get used to native speech tempo. You might struggle at the beginning but it's for the best. Listening to slow, simplified speech is just fooling yourself into a false sense of achievement.

This is a super random question but when do you use “aan”, I see it often in a sentence but don’t know how to translate it to English. Also things like “naar” and “bij”. Dankje wel 🤩
"Aan" betekent "to" in het Engels
You just have to learn the phrases with aan and understand from the context

Hoe kan ik op jou lijken tim?
The constant switching between _je_ and _u_ (for example using the u pronoun than saying alsjeblieft) was quite confusing. Also how does it work when it comes to reciprocity? If person A addresses person B with u, does B also reciprocate with u? Or is it random? Because in the video it sounds arbitrary as both parties addressed each other with different pronouns. I'd really appreciate an explanation.

Most native and most fluent speakers speak fast and with all sorts of reduced vowels and "shortcuts". You most likely do it in French too.

Joking aside...Some question were hard to follow, and what's the all sentence here: kijk's aan. The 's means what? I'm feeling very ignorant.
And the "real" speaking with contraction is harder too get. Pff. Wat vervelend. :)
"kijk's aan" is a contraction of "kijk eens aan"

@EasyDutch Speaking in natural tempo is better. Learners have to get used to this brutal tempo because it's how people speak.
