Leeuwarden isn’t Dutch speaking. Not originally. Nowadays everyone speaks Dutch but the native language of Friesland and thus Leeuwarden is Frisian. A language closely related to both Dutch and English but very much distinct from both. Most people in Friesland are bilingual in both Dutch and Frisian. Dutch is the only official language on the national level, however Frisian is official on the provincial level. You’ll see signs in Frisian (and Dutch) in Friesland. There are more officially recognized languages in the Netherlands: Lower Saxon in the north and east and Limburgian in the extreme southeast. However these two are not official languages on any level. Frisian has been standardized and has all the language institutions that can make a language work as an official language. Neither Lower Saxon nor Limburgian have been standardized nor do they have language institutions.
You'd like Litao Chinese then, well that is if you know some mandarin (or would like to), Zheng Tao speaks almost the exact same way this guy is speaking now. If you think Dutch is easy to speak, then Mandarin Chinese will surprise you in it's simplicity
As a German speaker, I love listening to Dutch! Slow Dutch is quite easy for me to understand. Often times the subtitles actually make it harder, because things are written differently than in German, even though the spoken sounds are very close. I can understand about 90%. Often times I know all the words, it's just that certain things are formulated differently than they would be in German, which is confusing. I think if I lived in the Netherlands for a month, I'd have picked up most of the Dutch I need to survive.
Beautiful city. Looks like dutch cities value the lakes and streams that pass through it and people can use them for multiple activies. The big cities in my country mostly have polluted water 😢
Hier zouden we regio’s gebruiken.
What a meant to say is your slow dutch video doesnt have interaction with people,slow conversation,thanx a lot ,beautifull video,I miss the Netherlands.
Tim spreekt zo zuiver Nederlands, bijna alsof het zijn tweede taal is. Zo sprak ik toen ik zijn leeftijd had ook wel en werd soms voor een Duitser versleten. :-)
He has a slight accent from the north/east. That’s where they’d pronounce the -n, but they often skip the preceding -e- (zeggen would become zegg’n). In large areas of the rest of the country they wouldn‘t skip the -e- but skip the -n instead (zegge). And there are areas where they don‘t skip anything.
Part of me likes Tim's suits but the other part of me resents looking low class in comparison. Maybe I will need to buy some more suits to wear while I watch these videos.
This man’s voice is so relaxing and satisfying. I’d love to watch him tour even more Dutch-speaking cities in longer videos in the future.

I’m always here to check out his new suit
Most of them are not new 😜
He is always very elegant.
I'm not a Dutch learner. I'm not a Dutch speaker. I'm here to adore Timothy's outfit as always.
Oh yes, Tim _knows_ the value of snazziness. 😎
I'm so happy easy dutch is active now that I'm studying Dutch.
Enjoy! :D

German is my 3rd language and yes, I totally agree.
Niederländisch = Niederdeutsch
Deutsch = Hochdeutsch
As an afrikaans speaker I can understand Dutch easily. Woohooo. Wish it was this easy with Spanish as well.
Happens to me the other way around: I wish Dutch were as easy to me, as a native Spanish speaker, as Catalan is. 😉
And I am a Dutch speaker learning Afrikaans. :))
Moin.

Never been to Friesland but just give me the man on the video and I’ll be happy :)
Bedankt voor deze aflevering en het tonen van een beetje Friesland. Ik ben er echt benieuwd naar en ook naar de Friese taal & cultuur.
Komt eraan 😊

Tim always in suit is so a prince charming 😍
For those arguing between whether fries came from France or from Belgium, y'all are wrong. It's clearly from the Netherlands!

Super mooie video. Dankjewel.
dank u wel
I love your voice and dialect...where are you originally from? Your accent sounds like Belgian Dutch to my untrained ear.
In Indonesia, the Frisian flag is often seen in dairy products, but no Indonesians realize that the flag belongs to The Netherlands

Since I speak German, it is very pleasnt to hear the "-n" at the end of the words being pronounced! :)

Problem is Dutch people speak such good English they don't let you speak Dutch lol it's essentially useless unless you live there

I'm fascinated by the fact that the Frisian dialect of Dutch is the closest modern language to English (though not mutually understandable, sadly).
Never say to a Frisian it is a dialect, it is a language and older than Dutch.
