I have a 1984C 20 same color yellow saddle Tan interior, as the 292 with the four-speed and granny gear and it is an 8 foot stepside bedIt is a workhorse.
My old man had a 1969 C20 4x4 with the 292....toughest truck I have ever seen. Had a huge camper on back and still pulled a 27 foot horse trailer. Cant find a truck like that today, if you did you would pay through the ass....I think he sold it in 1992 for about $1k
Something in my head clicked today so now I'm interested in finding a square body c30, preferably a dually, with a 292 and 4 on the floor. One with a/c would be even better.
I've always had a soft spot for straight 6 cylinder trucks, ESPECIALLY the big 6s (292Chevy, 261Chevy, 302GMC, etc.) I know where a 261 swapped 1951 half ton is hidden. Maybe one day I'll talk the ol guy out of it. Till then I think I'll 292 swap a C10.
I did spin two of the stock 2 piece balancers on the thing and it just kept running. It was a fun truck. But I did not have room for it after buying another project so it had to go. I bought a larger house a year ago and have been playing with rides since. Once spring hits I will make a walk around video.
Well like most of my rides I ran the heck out of it for a summer then found another project and sold the truck to play with the new toy. More of a space thing. I bought a larger house with a attached garage and a big barn so the space limitation is no longer a issue. Building one fun project out of a 94 s10 currently for next summer. Have a 87 v10 that is my current shop truck, 94 k1500 that needs a new engine, 01 2500hd that is my tow pig/ and current winter beater.
The base motor on C20s and C30s from 1973-1987 was the 292. V8s were all extra cost options. C20 came with 3 on the collumn as base trans, SM465 was extra cost option (that most got). C30 got the SM465 as the base trans.
I ❤️ Chevrolet from 1976!
I ❤️ straight 6 engines!

Yes. It is a sm465. 6.55/1 1st
It has a low and 3 gears after
Almost sounds like a Detroit
