    I've noticed a disturbing trend with these shows lately: All the ball busting going on between the builders. What always attracted me to these shows was the straight, no-drama, no-nonsense approach to building these machines. You guys weren't the freaking Teutles; there was no beep-beep, wrench throwing, screaming bullshit. You did the work, showed us how to do the work, and kept it a pleasant, almost soothing experience. You acted like professionals. You're not at the manufactured drama stage yet, but you don't ever need to be.

      The ball busting wasn't bad, just annoying, but real or fake the producer should stop that.
      Ball busting is part of every shop but this is or should be a professionally produced show. The audience doesn't come here to see an Orange County Choppers cat fight, even if it's minor. There are chingos of other build channels to watch and one more of these fake piss fests and I'm done.

    I am still absolutely blown away by the fact that the 292 they're putting into that truck made 376 HP and 510 lb ft of torque on low boost. Think about that...that's Caddy 500 and Buick 455 territory. The Buick 455 in it's highest output trim made 360 HP and 510 lb ft in the Buick GS Stage 1, the Caddy 500 made 400 HP and 550 lb ft with 10.0:1 compression in 1970 ONLY. The Caddy 500 went on to make 190 HP and 360 lb ft in 1976 with 8.5:1 compression. Damn emissions restrictions! I'd still love to own a 70 Fleetwood Eldorado with a 500. Even the Cadillac 472 in 68-69 made 375/525.

    Back in the 60's when pulp wood trucks went into the woods and came out with an oversized load of pulp wood. Most of the trucks I was familiar with were Chevy's, and they had 292 engines. Not so much power but lots of torque and gearing to pull the heavy loads out of the woods. These engines were also used a lot in dirt track racing. I have a 1994 Silverado that I have been working on for some time as a project. I would love to have an engine like this one under the hood of my truck. That would certainly get some attention at the next car show.

    Lot of money in this build. They never state what the overbore is. .030-OVER, .040-OVER, .060-OVER? Any bigger and you get waterjacket issues. 292 L6 @ .030-over is 296 cubic inches... Big 292 fan. I bought a '68 Chevy C /10 Stepside with a 292 in 1973, I was 23. Now I'm 71 and I've rebuilt two 292s. Truck's still my daily driver. First build project in '77 lasted 25 years and got 250,000 miles out of it Rebuilt the original block in 2005 and it's still running good. L6 292 @.030-over, Badger pistons, Crane 260H cam, 1.84 intake, 1.5 exhaust valves, Offy intake, Edelbrock 1404 4v carb [500 CFM], Clifford headers, GM HEI, SM465 4-Speed, 12-bolt 3.73 posi rear, It's a sleeper. Chassis rolled thru 400,000 last summer.
    I had thought of a Turbo build, with Lump Ports and Roller Rockers like this TV Eye Candy, but I'm not working right now, so it's just a dream. It would replace the burnt-out 454 BBC in my '67 K/10 Suburban Three-Door.

About 90 seconds !!!, then he said finish it up. Wow and he did that all the time. No trans jack for him. 😆😆 Great Video thanks William Orange county, ca.

      I swear new cars with auto dim just suck and still blind everyone , and then the low beams are still adjusted too high and still blind the crap out of you.

      Blue is bad , red is better.

    I wuld almost think that turbo is too big for the engine, it's on full boost @ little less than 3500 on a dyno, so on the road it's probably spools from 3500. So you're rew range is from 3500 to 4500 quite a narrow power band for the amount of boost your making.
    You might get away with putting in a smaller turbo that comes oon @ 2000 rpm and don't loose much or any on top of the curve. It's a low rew engine, like a diesel.

    That is the wrong flywheel for that motor. 292s run 1/2" bolts and 3 dowel pins that are line reamed. The flywheel will be loose after the first drive. Ask me how I know 🙃

    • @jamesglavich1426
      @jamesglavich1426 2 роки тому

      (scott) GM was all over the map on the 292 cranks for a while, 63 only were steel cranks with one dowel pin, then they changed to cast iron (cheaper) and two dowel pins and a little later, I think in the 70's they changed to 3 dowel pins. I remember some would try to remove two of the pins and use the early flywheel, and ran into problems with the flywheel bolts not staying tight. During the 66 model year they switched to the 1/2 inch bolts that you mentioned also. I guess they probably had some harmonics going on with the 4 and 1/8 inch stroke and were throwing a lot of things at it. All said it was and still is a great engine. Too bad put it out to pasture instead of adapting FI as ford did with the 300, also a great engine. But we remember the choked down smog 292 making just a little over a 100 hp, while the 300 was happy with the FI.

    Not true on thrust bearing clearance, you want the bearing to run constantly on pressure plate with minimum pressure as if the bearing is stationary every time you engage the clutch it will wear the fingers trying to bring the bearing to the same speed every time, GM did this when they went to pull type set up, if you have a push type then use a small spring to hold fork/ bearing to constantly run on fingers and still have slight freely then you won't wear grooves in fingers

    • @ls6-ss413

    • @Hanzyscure
      @Hanzyscure 4 роки тому

      Probably because they would have to be custom made and expensive. Time restrictions for producing the video. The 292 has a long stroke that will limit the rpms. The stock rods are most likely sufficient for this build.

    Guess nobody noticed that the intercooler pipes from the turbo were loose during the dyno pull. That engine won't last without proper tuning and ensuring it won't be too lean which will happen if all leaks are sealed after the dyno run. As for the rib jabs between the guys the actors are trying to imitate the jabs that take place between lots of car guys. Meant for fun not to be taken seriously.
