- A few days after filming this video, still going strong with the iPhone 6s. I think this will be my last dumb phone video for a while, as this seems to be the golden ticket for me and my screen usage. Thank you all so much for watching, I hope you take the time today to spend less time on your phone, and more time in the world. Go for a walk, go for a run, eat a meal without a screen in front of you, or just enjoy the sounds of nature.

Just replace the battery the performance will be crazy (really) or get a high capacity one, but don't get scammed. There are so much scams with batteries, one of them didn't even work hahaha made in china😂

I use an iPhone 6s as my daily main phone in 2023 and have no issues with it. I even use an iPhone 5s as my secondary for music and UA-cam. Apple still supports the 5s and 6s on iOS 12 and 15. All apps still support the 6s too, I’ve never came across an app that wouldn’t work on the 6s and lots of apps still work on the 5s even.

Man, I wish I still had my iPhone 6s,, I loved it, despite the bad battery life and low storage, I really liked it.

The fact that this phone is only one iOS version behind right now(15.7) versus the currently supported iPhones is nuts. I just read that Samsung will be ending OS support this year on the S20 series and they will not be getting Android 14 which includes the $1400 S20 Ultra that came out in...2020. I mean, I love Android, but that's downright absurd.
Yeah but Apple is starting to not be so good with the software support now cause they dropped the iPhone 7 iPhone 8 and iPhone X too early from new feature updates. Still better support than android but by Apple standards this isn’t so good.

And still getting security updates mid 2023. That's awesome. I'm on iPhone 6s and it works perfectly fine (had to change the battery a couple times ofc).
just announced something like 7 years on the newest Samsungs, shows they care more about marketing than supporting any of their older flagships
I remember when these came out. It took me 2 years to get one. 6s Plus rose gold 64GB. My first “expensive, phone” I still have it. It’s in brand new condition. This was a really good phone and it still is!
Man, I got it for my birthday, I got it in rose gold, i used to always say rocking the rose gold. I wish I still had it, I had to trade it in to upgrade to the iPhone 7 which I regret.

I still run my 4s and 6s + those were solid designs. Had good components and screens. Very easy to repair and replace plug and play hardware. Plus parts are still available and cheap to obtain! I ran an upholstery business for a few years all on my 4s as well. 👍🏼👍🏼😎
@@RideOnTimePH Honestly I never cared about the camera much even an iPhone 5 camera is good enough for me. But the 6s holds up really well and can even record 4K video. I think it’s absurd people think they need these fancy cameras just to post photos on social media.
I agree, the 14 pro has been criticized for over processing photos.

It’s amazing that this phone is still only one version behind! It’s interesting how like Samsung will only give 2 or maybe 3 updates maximum. Also because it’s only one version behind in IOS app support is still pretty much complete (except for a few AR apps maybe).
Samsung gives you 4 updates now.

I had a 6S from 2017-2023. Bought an iphone 14. Massive jump, especially in camera and battery life.
I have the same combo as you - an iPhone 13 and a 6S, lol. I just use the 6S as a secondary device around the house as it’s perfectly usable in this day and age. I purchased it new back in 2016 and replaced the battery last year.
going into 2024 this thing is gonna be a minimalist iPhone..brilliant

The iphone Xr and 11 were the first iphones that had major improvements in battery life in my opinion. But damn the Xr is heavy phone😂
Paying for a battery swap (even if you overpay and pay double to have it done at the Apple Store or at an Apple Authorized place), factory resetting your phone (after a backup, of course), and buying a new case and screen protector if your own are beat up, will give you that new phone feeling at a fraction of the cost, and it is much less wasteful than tossing your current phone in the drawer. If your phone has too little storage, like the 16 GB models, where you are unable to have the OS and your daily driver apps installed comfortably, you might have a more solid reason to upgrade in that case.
Yup, I made certain to get the 32gb version. Remarkable how well this phone holds up all these years later.

My grandma took hers to Best Buy and they didn’t have the batteries (though they could have just been out). They didn’t say it was a obsolete device

The iPhone 6s was pretty great. And you can still get an almost brand new one with the SE line.
I just picked up an iPhone SE 1st gen for nights and weekends. Thought about a light phone, but I’ll just keep it to phone/text, and you don’t lose iMessage, navigation, or camera this way either.
The SE 2 and 3 phones aren’t like the 6s cause they have a glass back and no headphone jack. Only thing that’s the same is the screen size literally everything else is different.
I've bought this phone again as a temporary backup and the first time I ever owned one was in 2016...it was the fastest most versatile and easy to repair smartphone I ever owned and the power it had back then was insane... All these years later as a XR, 12 and 13 owner, I STAND by the 6S

ya if I use my iPhone 6s, I get less screen time which is good. I have my S20 FE 5G, but I really like my iPhone. I replaced my battery and the performance is pretty good

I've been using the iPhone 6S until now. No problem with that.
I asked two young people in my office and they both admitted to using their phones for everything. This is crazy because the laptop screen is so much bigger and it has a real keyboard. I can't imagine what the smart phone did to a developing mind.
I am concerned that in a few years we are going to have some real studies on the actual negative effects of these devices. I want to try and get ahead of the curve
What’s the difference between a laptop or tv? Screens are screens. You still will have your face to a tv or laptop. I think it’s crazy when people try to shame mobile users.
Sometimes eyes are just adjusted with the phone screen I don't know how many can relate 😅

I think having the 13 Pro on hand sort of acts as a safety blanket that allows you to use the 6s more. Here's what I mean: it's easier to commit to going to a lower quality camera, 60hz screen, and giving up all your apps because you don't feel the same pressure of "giving up" that stuff because you know if you wanted/needed it you can grab your 13 Pro.
Even just with apps, the thought of deleting so many of them off my 13 is stressful to the point that I have never even attempted it. If I could leave them on there "just in case" and then get an older phone with limited apps, it's much more doable. Same for the other stuff, I may stress that I couldn't go back to 60hz. But if I have the 13 Pro as a backup just in case, I can try out an older phone and might end up committing to it and realizing I don't need 120hz, but would have never made the leap to find that out without the safety of having a backup on hand.
Dude, I was thinking this exact same thing dude. I wanted to use my phone less but still be in the Apple ecosystem.

I’m using iPhone 6s in 2023
Still using an iphone 6S to this day from 11/10/2016...it still works fine. Was close to buying the 14 last year, am thinking about getting the 15, but why bother? Aside of an occasional photo all I do is text and watch UA-cam and my 6S is working just fine. Maybe I'll wait until 11/10/2023 to make it an even 7 years. replaced the battery in the summer of 2022.

My wife is just going to take it. My carrier gave me a huge discount on the phone, but it comes in 24 monthly payments, which I get but it is annoying. My wife is very good with her phone usage, I am actually setting that up for her today!

I still have my iphone 6s and iphone SE. I currently use an s22 ultra but sometimes i use the iphones when i feel like leaning off my phones.
I'm really sad that iPhones now have glass backs instead of aluminum. It was much more durable, maybe looked a little bit worse. I know that its crucial because of wireless charging but I could sacrifice it for an aluminum back.
Agreed. Aluminum has such an incredible feeling in the hand because it’s all 1 piece. Glass phones are broken up by metal in between 2 pieces of glass and you can always feel that little crease
i loved my 6s - used it until june '23 . unfortunately keeping everthing up to date but was compromised remotely & security features became less and less trustworthy
My newer phone broke. So I switched to a 6s, and went from about 6+ hours a day to. 1-2 hours a day of screentime
2024 i still use 6s!
Still using 6s in 2024. Yup the battery was changed but ios 15 its just fine and doesnt feel like i use 8 years phone

Ok so I had gotten a iPhone 6s from a buddy but the battery was 71% and would die immediately so I sold it and bought another one off of backmarket and the battery was 81% but it almost dies just as quickly. So I have a question should I replace it and do you think it’ll actually last more then an an hiur an a half not on the charger? I watch UA-cam quite a bit but it just doesn’t seem right that a phone should die in less than an hiur while watching videos. Plz someone help cause if it’s worth the battery replacement I’ll go today if not I’ll just buy a different phone . Btw this phone is 81% and still dying pretty quickly

I’m watching on a 6s I don’t spend much time on my phone. But I really want a 13 or 14, I just recently bought AirPods to go with my iPhone 6s and that’s the main thing I do is just listen to music. I just want iOS 16 and better camera quality 😕. Sometimes I wish I had the 13
