I got my '06 V50 last March and was really happy to find your channel with this project series as I was searching for mod ideas. Unfortunately, I hadn't had time to work on it that much but as I'm going through your vids it's inspired me to finally get to it! Do you still have yours?
It's black vinyl. You can buy it anywhere online. I suggest only buying 3M or Avery, as both are high quality, will last a long time, and are easy to work with.
The 07 S40 I purchased has damaged low beams due to xenon lights. The silver lense burnt. Is there any place that sells just the low beam lens? I've only found complete headlight sets online.
You could, though very little light gets emitted though these rings from the projectors. Even the factory blue tinted rings on bixenon cars don't show up very well. If you want the halos to be noticeable, letting LED rings to mount behind them is the best way to go.
@@MyNameIdeasWereTaken Would I be able to get these rings www.amazon.com/gp/buy/spc/handlers/display.html?hasWorkingJavascript=1 and just replace the 98mm plastic OEM ring? Would it change the color of my headlights?
@@MyNameIdeasWereTaken thank you for the reply! The reason I ask is the plastidip used for its matte finish or would it be beneficial to paint it w a glossy finish since that might be more reflective? I am going to try to tackle this project tonight or tomorrow, I appreciate your input :-)
@@MyNameIdeasWereTaken- also i looked up the heat tolerance for plastidip and it is like right at 200°. I think a standard rustoleum is around 220° so i think I'd be ok either way!
@@MyNameIdeasWereTaken thanks dude, I've been interested in doing a light build on my C30 didn't wanna buy the wrong size and spend more time waiting on a different size
Do u know if the halo rings from the v50 fits on a c30 with bi-xenon? Don’t like the blue ish tint

Yep, I still have this V50 and my C30. Build sheets and links to forum build threads can be seen here: www.michaelchallock.com/
How do you get thumbs down on this? this is a tasteful modification..what is the vinyl you used on the top edge of the lens?
It's a 3M gloss black vinyl. You can purchase the rolls anywhere online, I bought mine on ebay directly from 3M.
Is this applicable to facelift 2010 headlights or just early headlights?
Similar process for the facelift headlights.
Why didn't you paint the position as well?
These look awesome need to do my c30 ❤
Where did you get the black eyelid tape? I’m trying to get it to look a little aggressive

Unfortunately no, you can only purchase the entire headlight assembly.
If you wanted a "Halo Light Effect" could you theoretically use tint over the plastic 98mm ring around the projector?

What engine is in your v50?
T5
Excellent video. Thx
Im so doing this
Can i use spray paint i have around the house instead of plastidip?
You can use any paint that you want, as long as it can withstand the temperatures that it will be exposed to within the headlight assembly.

I just did this to My V50 and it looks really good.
What was your process for buffing the lens? Did you use a buffing wheel or just a microfiber towel?
2000 grit sand paper for wet sanding. Then just a microfiber with Turtle Wax plastic lens restoration polish.
Right on. Thank you
What kind of polish did you use on the lenses?
Turtle Wax plastic lens restoration polish.
What was the size of the halo ring? In mm?
It's roughly 98mm on the outer diameter. So many people order 100mm and carefully shave them down.

did you spray the Amber Corner marker from the inside or outside
John Adams I removed the marker and painted the outside of it. Paint is not on the outside of the clear lens though.
so, no reflection from it? or do you get some?
To the point that I smoked it, there is no reflection. Just illumination.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice!
