Suomi SMG was probably the worlds best SMG of the prewar period, and was a pretty solidly machined piece based on the traditions of rifle making, not on "cheap bullet hose"-doctrine. It was right up there at the top of this weapon class with the italian Beretta 38 (which also was to fire a higher powered italian 9x19 mm cartridge). The range might be slightly optimistic on both of them, but not by much.
The similarity to the soviet PPsH is maybe due to the fact that the early-1930s Suomi influenced he design of the soviet late-1930s PPD SMG, the predecessor of the PPsH. The PPD from the start used the 7,62x25 mm (and at some point introduced a drum magazine), probably because 9x19 mm wasnt made anywhere in the USSR. The PPD apparently was way too costly and slow to make for soviet taste though, so the PPsH-design was born to replace it.

Been enjoying these smaller team games commentaries. Chill and nice change of pace from my usual 1v1 tryharding😎

I never really understood concrete armor "upgrades" on tanks. Crews, even at the time, were told that the amount of material you would have to use to protect from AP rounds would end up weighing more than just adding additional steel plates. I could see maybe using it to stop infantry rifles or HEAT rounds, but again, thats what thin steel side skirt plates could do anyway.

The soldiers where 18 - 25 year guys... you can tell them whatever you want. Doesn't mean they will listen.

When your life is on the line, perceived safety matters a lot, whether the added "protection" actually matters or not once Physics get involved

I checked out Wikipedia and it said they made the suomi kp/-31 in both 7.65 Tokarev and 9mm parabellum

@@TooOldForG 7.65 Tokarev is a development on the 7.65 Parabellum (Luger). But at this point it doesn't really matter

Armor on tanks is not uniform, and thickness can vary depending on the tank and the area. For example, on the front, the Sherman has a 38mm lower glacis, the StuG III Ausf. G has a 50mm lower glacis, and the T-34 has a 45mm lower glacis. For the sides, the Sherman has 51mm of armor, the StuG III Ausf. G has 30mm, and the T-34 has 40mm. Thanks for watching!
