Me too! Met him once at a six flags concert. He was an amazing artist, and testimony. Huge catalog of awe inspiring music! He will always be in my playlist
I love Larry Norman!!! Still listen to his music. Just like Bob Dylan....... you always know a good songwriter by the fact that their message becomes more relevant as time goes by. Larry was a prophet. His body of work is immense. Glad to see it being noticed by Rogan. :)
Larry Norman "Six O'CLOCK News . Amazing song. Larry Norman was too rock and roll for the church folks in the 70s and too churchey for the rocknrollers. Some singers said that if Larry kept politics and religion out of his songs, he would have gone to the top in the 70s
He needs to listen to Larry Norman: The Great American Novel I was born and raised an orphan in a land that once was free In a land that poured its love out on the moon; And I grew up in the shadows of your silos filled with grain, But you never helped to fill my empty spoon. And when I was ten you murdered law with courtroom politics, And you learned to make a lie sound just like truth; But I know you better now and I don't fall for all your tricks, And you've lost the one advantage of my youth. You kill a black man at midnight just for talking to your daughter, Then you make his wife your mistress and you leave her without water; And the sheet you wear upon your face is the sheet your children sleep on, At every meal you say a prayer; you don't believe but still you keep on. And your money says in God we trust, But it's against the law to pray in school; You say we beat the Russians to the moon, And I say you starved your children to do it. You are far across the ocean but the war is not your own, And while you're winning theirs, you're gonna lose the one at home; Do you really think the only way to bring about the peace Is to sacrifice your children and kill all your enemies? The politicians all make speeches while the news men all take note, And they exaggerate the issues as they shove them down our throats; Is it really up to them whether this country sinks or floats? Well I wonder who would lead us if none of us would vote. Well my phone is tapped and my lips are chapped from whispering through the fence, You know every move I make, or is that just coincidence? Well you try to make my way of life a little less like jail, If I promise to make tapes and slides and send them through the mail. And your money says in God we trust, But it's against the law to pray in school; You say we beat the Russians to the moon, And I say you starved your children to do it. You say all men are equal, all men are brothers, Then why are the rich more equal than others? Don't ask me for the answer, I've only got one: That a man leaves his darkness when he follows the Son
You had to live in that decade to truly understand how world changing his songs were. They touched a sore point in millions of people's lives and these people took his advice. The song "I wish we'd all been ready" is especially relevant for today. Royce
Larry Norman was a big part of that Jesus hippie movement that came out of Vietnam. He wrote so many great tunes and most of them have been forgotten all these years later. He was ahead of his time. I think he would be much better received today than he was back then, but who knows?
Finally someone is giving some recognition to Larry Norman who did something really significant. He did change Christian music from hymns to something with a beat!!!! Yay! Go Joe Rogan!! Check out all Larry’s stuff, you’ll realize he is a guy who everyone ought to know but they don’t! Thank you for this little bit of notice now!!!
Wow... Joe Rogan discovers Larry Norman. Your just scratching the surface Joe. You have a long...long road a head blowing thru Larry Normans incredible discography.
I used to work at a music store and one of the better guitar players heard me listening to the guitar solo from Put Your Life In Jesus Nail Scarred Hands. He said, "He goes in and out of the pentatonic scale, but it works!"
me too, he was kind of odd. I hung out with his brother Charles after a show. He was super home sick and missed his girlfriend. The glamourous life of a rock star!
Even though it sounds as if Larry was a narcissist, I'm glad he inspired Pete Stewart and thus there was the band Grammatrain. "Imperium" in particular is a great album.
Larry Norman was very talented and wrote some very good music. Unfortunately, there is debate on whether he really was a Christian or a fake. God only knows for sure.😒
My dad became a Christian in 1977. He loved Larry Norman.
Much of his songs are actually awesome, well worth a re-listen
Seeing Joe Rogan singing a "Jesus rock song" enthusiastically while smoking a blunt in a space suit made my day. Praise God.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
This song has been stuck in my head all day. 10/11/23
Modern church you have to sift through
I am 69 yrs old and I grew up on Larry Norman and the others. Just love this!!!
Larry Norman was unbelievably talented. Top notch singer and songwriter.
Jesus is the answer.
He was He is He will forever be because he's the great I AM.
Been listening to him for forty years, he's singing about janis joplin when he noticed her backstage at a concert.
Me too! Met him once at a six flags concert. He was an amazing artist, and testimony. Huge catalog of awe inspiring music! He will always be in my playlist

A space suit and weed will get you to space. But only Jesus can take you to heaven dude FR.
Dope comment!
Facts.
That should've been part of the lyrics man
Jesus has the answer
The song was written about Janis Joplin.
Been tripping on this song ever since I heard it. Thanks

I wish we'd all been ready for when the Outlaw returns!
Nice tie-in! Those are both great songs, too.

Call it a hunch but I I think there's more going on here than meets the eye.
I think so too
❤
Jesus is tugging Joe rogans heart fr fr from Saul to Paul
1972 is when this album came out .
Great clip I first heard this the other day on his podcast and became hooked!!
Yes all his stuff is great! Look into some old Resurrection Band for great lyrics too
They were talented and great too.
I ran into Larry at the Cornerstone fest around 1990.
@wisecatshorts I saw him there twice. Both times, most of the young people had no Idea who he was!
I was astonished with the way Joe Rogan reacted to this song…Where could this lead?…
Larry is a legend.
Larry Norman is my favorite.
Look up Jon Linn he was the guitarist and he was amazing I knew them all personally and lived through many of those years
Great to know. I was born in 73 so I caught the end of the Jesus movement as a kid...
I used to work at a music store and one of the better guitar players heard me listening to the guitar solo from Put Your Life In Jesus Nail Scarred Hands. He said, "He goes in and out of the pentatonic scale, but it works!"
Love jesus ,an this guys songs
Larry was a very good friend of mine!
I met Larry once
Me too, at Cornerstone Festival Festival in Chicago. Such a humble man. Enjoyed our conversation.
me too, he was kind of odd. I hung out with his brother Charles after a show. He was super home sick and missed his girlfriend. The glamourous life of a rock star!
It won't be long. Joe will come to the saving knowledge of Christ and people will follow just as people followed Paul because Paul followed Jesus
Hey, if you guys like this look up UFO by Larry Norman
A great song !!!
the song you're playing was written for Janice Joplin. I was his guitarist in 74 . My youtube channel his some of Larry's performances. ☝️
Larry wrote this song about Janis Joplin
He wrote this for and because of Janis Joplin
JANIS JOPLIN WAS ONE OF THE MANY TRENDSETTERS AND IDOLS OF THE TIME
Joe has good taste 😊🫡🫡
This is Janis Joplin version
Even though it sounds as if Larry was a narcissist, I'm glad he inspired Pete Stewart and thus there was the band Grammatrain. "Imperium" in particular is a great album.
I saw them a while back. They were great
must have been a good while because I believe their final show was in 2009@@cooldadio7
Why should the devil have all the good music??
He wrote this about Janis Joblin
Joplin
Larry Norman was very talented and wrote some very good music. Unfortunately, there is debate on whether he really was a Christian or a fake. God only knows for sure.😒
There should be no debate. Larry Norman was a Christian.
God the one that matters ❤
Jesus isn’t debating it.
“I wish we’d all been ready.”
There was a lot of people who were questionable in Jesus circle but he forgave them because like us we are all sinners and can be forgiven
Rogan clearly doesn’t get it. Smoking weed while listening to the gospel - truly lost.
ok, stop smoking thank you, not just sing along w/the lyrics
Larry Norman was probably some kind of government operative. He had a very poor testimony, died badly.
Yo Joe's taste in music is questionable
Larry has all kinds of music. He was in the band PEOPLE! recorded on capital records.
Praise jeshua
