"How can sk beat Cudot for soty?" ... it's called style kids 😂
You can always tell a park skater.
@@RusPitman you can watch them just roll up to a rail and see the difference 👌
@@dmgd509 I don't know what it is. I always felt the same about Feinburg, amazing skater but there's something about the precision in the movements or a rigidity that park riders tend to have. Frankie Morales being the exception of course 😂
@@RusPitmanwhoooaaaahhhh. Feinburg, not a street skater!? When he was 14, maybe. But the guy was top of the game for close to a decade, untouchable. Wild times.
Some people just don't get that part, which to me is one of the most important in Blading imo. I'd rather have a few stylish and controlled tricks in my pocket vs. 1000 tricks but not looking good while doing any of it, obviously this is the far end of that spectrum.
I'm reaching that level of over exposure with the Kelso brothers where I don't want to vote for them because they win everything. Not a knock on them, super talented and deserve the credit, but want some others to get more shine. 360 neg makio was trick of the year, unbelievable that it lost. Fantastic job Tom! Love your content and always look forward to it.
I'd bump Kelso down to third. And the current 2 and 3 to 1st and 2nd respectfully- but I prefer long held grinds.
Agreed for the 360 neg. Also I love the Kelsos, it should be reminded that they are the absolute master of ... small curbs and prails. There are other type of skating in life. I mean, Takeshi Yasutoko is not SOTY although nobody can best it at big ramps.
Jumbo has done more for me this year than anything. Their videos ignited a flame to skate… more than any of the other nominated skaters sections. I don’t care how hard you can go or if you fit in with the style. It’s gotta be fun.
It great seeing more variety in content. I was harping on about having stuff like Storror for ages so it's really cool seeing people motivated to get out there and do something outside the normal edit - which are also still vital. . What's Brewing and Billy Murton's channels are going to be great in 2024. it all plays a part adding to the culture
Let's hear it for that 92% still hangin' in there hey?
"Every 10 seconds, somewhere in the world, a 40 something skater is landing a trick in their mind."
Hahahaah
@@TomMoyse Just glad to be represented in any poll these days, haha. Here’s to a year of solid mind and actual skating ✌🏻
blue hair.... normal choice for vegan college
students lmao
Ha first thing that came to mind while I was just waffling on
In my day, blue hair meant punk rock
This made me spit out my drink when he said that hahahaha
Blue curtain hair for anime-scene girls
Best promo of the year goes to
Illia Savosin
❤
Change my mind !!!!
Agreed. That promo won rollerblading for 2023
All things regarding Savosin is bad taste. I totally understand why people like him, he is disrespectful and funny (sometimes). For my taste though, I can't watch his edits. Regarding his notorious edit I stopped watching at the clown disguise.
@cfronin
If anything , Illia is the one attracting young people to join Blading
with his funny shorts videos
And he drops Hammers
On top of that
He is a great Advocate for the sport
@cfronin Look, Ilia is the punk rocker of skate. Lately a bit repetitive with gimmicks but c’mon, he just gives no fucks. And he’s pretty talented, an incredible athlete who trains HARD. You’re forgetting his clips of his training exercises off skates.
Very close match I agree, but Bacethem gave us the christ tricks.
Well done sir 👏
cheers mate
Directly direct yourself to the job center 😂😂😂😂
Or snorting tunerix until the bones grow back together , you had me dying 😂😂
hahaah thank you
I think it’s kelso brothers they drop tons of stuff and every time it’s a hit Tom lol and tanks for the great video bro they should let u host the winter clash
They should! Let Winterclash know I would like my own stream thing and I would like to run some ideas passed them
So pumped to see my friend Billy being regarded as one of the best wizard skaters in the world. The dude deserves it.
Great vid! Farmer robbed for trick of the year imo. Imagine rolling up to a handrail to full cab onto a neg..! Testicle kamikaze
I was a bit surprised that didn't win
What feels the most overlooked for me with Cudot getting second is his impact on bladers in real life around the world. Sure you can get a buzz off amazing kelso edits, I do for sure, but having a humble and fun guy like Cudot visit your town, films some stunts, enter a comp, hang out with local bladers, that to me shows a spirit that I miss in this hyper developed and technology dominated world. Ultimately, its all love, I bet both SK and Cudot are both shrugging and getting their blades on for the next fun time, so lets do it, and be inspired by all the amazing bladers out there!
This is one of the best I've seen in a long time, really good laugh on some points... Most likely to get sacked cracked me up 😂😂😂😂😂
Cheers pal hope you’re keeping well.
@@TomMoyse I'm doing great, skating is really good and I'm enjoying it more again lately... 😄🤙🏽
@@skatesam_gh great to hear pal
Julian Cudot is skater of the year. More fun to watch than anyone, getting the thing out there more than anyone, doing more NBD than anyone. Dude ROLLERBLADES, every time.
Good to have lots of opinions out there. Saying he gets it out there more than anyone, is one you can look to data a little bit. He doesn't get more views than say Ilia on insta. Even a quick visual scan of Cudot's vs Sean reels seems to suggest Sean gets more views, or it's very close. View wise on UA-cam his were 7.8k and 9.3k compared to Sean's 21k, 58k and 46k. Even if you remove the vid with other peoples it's still more than double Cudot's.
Those numbers are not the, be all and end, of getting it out there, but it makes the claim very debatable.
This one goes back into opinion now, but a lot of people don't find his edits that fun to watch because of the low production value. You could probably also then say what Sean puts out is objectively better because the difference in production is very clear.
@@TomMoyse yeah fair enough, nice to have a few people, doing different stuff - good enough to have the debate about. Better than no one doing anything.
@@CrateChallenge too right! It’s great to have the variety, it’s really important for rollerblading. I think the discussion of who had the best year is really interesting as well. Cheers for the comment mate
Perfect way to start my day, great job with the vid! 👏
Thank you mate, glad it started the day off right
Thanks!
Thank you
I like cudot " wild horse" a lot but sean , u r right, he's pushing the boundaries to a point i cant explain... I'd like to see a documentary on him ( i dont think it will hapen anytime soon) just to know what he's been through to get to that " god mode". One is skating like rollerblading is a athletic sport and sean is skating like it's a way of being, a way of living life.... What donyou think mate? 🖖🏾
Still im a big fan of your work. Award for you too !! ,,💥🔥🔥🔥
I agree but I feel like Colin's edits weren't as appreciated as they should have been. Guess Sean is just that good.
@@darkoale3299 maybe coz they're OGs 😅 the youth don't understand
This is so good 😂❤
Cheer mate. Huge shout out to you and everything you're doing!
demetrious george has multiple pro skates tho
Yea he wouldn't be included in AM base on time served and multiple skates
srry dada didnt mean to reply under ur comment
Did dem George even skate more than a handful of times last year? His OG was all reposts from 2021/2022. But he is definitely not a pro skater. Let's realign pro with profession
@@longtermsquatter yes I think this year he was mostly injured
Let's see how the newcomers push the bar this year.. Quote: "The Kids aren't allright" 😁
Defo a fair few talented young skaters
Nice One. 😊
Cheers pal
Product of the Year for me has to be Tiger Balm
Good shout - 2nd cod liver oil
@@TomMoyse On a serious note whats your opinion on us older bladers coming back and what happens after? I only got back into it last February and have been ticking off my bucket list but I know in a two years Im going to hit 40 and then decline. Its worrying for the market and the sport if we OGs are propping up the market. I hope you do an analysis of this and would be great if you had some demographic statistics to look at the possible outcomes once we all decline. Could be helpful for companies.
Glad JK won best wizard, that made my day. Didn't realise he wasn't pro tho WTF. Someone give this man a skate FFS! 💯
Guys I'd love some info here. I'm Spanish so I've never been part of the community even though I've been skating my whole life. Where can I find all these amazing videos and edits seen here? Also, apart from the reddit, is there any web for news and all this stuff? Thank you in advance guys. Love
UA-cam is the best source. Search for brands such as. THEM Skates, USD Skates, Mesmer Skates, Roces you’ll find loads of good videos amongst these. Also illegal smiles is a great video. That just a start. Once you start watching those the algo should suggest more
Junkyu Park has a signature create frame graphic. Even more controversy from the am award 😅
Haha - Frames don't count, nor do wheels, has to be boot or announced on pro team
@@TomMoyse I stand corrected. I just thought since he got paid for each frame sold it counted. $5 per frame is hardly a living from rollerblading though.
fucking love DIGGIE DIGGIE HOLE!
hahah
Sorry I think Colin Kelso reflect should be 2nd and basethem 1!
Sean Kelso did reflect, or did I say Colin? I can’t remember haha
Iqon had some of the goofiest branding I've ever seen, but outside of the aggressive scene the frames seem super popular. Don't know if I'd call it a flop overall, although I do think that it's wild that they went for such a maximalist style when more minimal looks seem to be on right now
Right, how many logos and cutouts can we squeeze on to the product...
spotty dog
Cheers pal
Backslides don’t count if there isn’t a grab.
Says who?
🐶
Cheers big dog
Hey guys is AM short for amateur and pronounced am not A.M.? Asking for a friend 😉
lol. I’ve always said A.m rather than am but I tried to say am this time. Did I say A.M haha
@@TomMoyse I caught a couple 😂
You can't be a real UA-camr without mispronouncing things
@@RusPitman half the fun ain’t it
SK is overrrated. P rail god though
each to their own hey, ironic you say p-rail god when he won trick of the year on a ledge
@@TomMoyseA shin high ledge. Still p-box/rail type tricks. I honestly prefer Colin as he’s more creative.
Overrated no, he has done so much for the sport. But Cudot is way more versatile, he can do anything and mix it together like a 900 in a street edit
Farmer robbed. 360 neg makio is the best trick done since COVID.
I thought he was going to win
comment
Gold
Damn people really don’t like iqon but they are the best skates I’ve ever had. Snorting turmeric 😂😂😂
haha yea, i think the skate look alright, maybe it more so the brand as a whole seems a bit much...? I don't know
I heard that Powerslide outright stole the Iqon brand, the “Q” on the side of the skate wasn’t for Iqon….they’re getting what they deserve 🤷🏾♂️
don't you fear getting demonitized because of unnecessary soccer clips ?
Inliner Sucks.. Skateboard Rules!
😂
Another algorithm failure
Thanks for the view
Bacethem isn't even the best edit the bacemint dudes did in 2023.
go on then, what is
@@TomMoyse I think the solo ones from each > Zeph 4 > Bacethem. In my opinion at least.
Hahaha the tumeric anti inflammatory joke resonated with me, as a 40 year old it has definitely been on my radar for some time
It’s magical
I take a bit of tumeric as well, why not I think, it doesn’t seem to be toxic to us in small dosages. It’s clearly worth paying attention to what goes in and on our bodies and trying to avoid inflammatory foods like PUFAs, artificial ingredients, chlorinated tap water, and toxic toiletries. And everyone’s favorite poison ☠️ alcohol.
Wishing good health to all.
Same here. Still skating pretty hard at 45. Demetrious skating definitely makes me cringe though. Destroying his body for the camera is not worth it.
That was epic!!! Spot on most everything and bits of hilarity mixed in! Love it! I am bias towards Joe so I say the backslide won best trick and I don't believe a lot of people understand how long that was to back up and around and down that controlled with style. That being said, overcourse the 3 neg Mak was not form this planet so probably Chris and Joe should have tied. Is what it is right? Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it! Being there for Joes trick was something!
Tom, you should post a video with your 1,2,3 in some of these categories. Democracy is a failed experiment lol It's all well and good to have fans vote, but who do you have winning? It's like Rotten Tomatoes, there is an audience score but also the critic score. Hit us with that content.
I had actually started recording a few of my own takes on the winners but I stopped because the video was getting too long. Maybe next time
My SOTY:
1. JKbath
2. Colin Kelso
3. Sean Kelso
4. John Bolino
Solid list
I’m like 37 and got back into aggressive skating so I guess I’m part of the 92% of skaters.
😂😂😂
It’s great exercise and I never seen it as a real extreme sport.
It was more of an outlet to get out my depression and anger.
Do I like to push myself sometimes with new tricks most definitely. Me and my brother even do a free kids skate event in my hometown where we do free pizza, drinks, and giveaways to children. 💯
To me sports suck period and to see blading as a sport is kinda gay and I mean happy before others get all bent out of shape.
Still people do what you want because regardless on what others say it’s the love of the art that keeps us all together.
And as said before you only live
once! ☠️☠️☠️
And howdy spodilydoo dog to you too sir!
🫡
How soon we forget about the Razors Broom promo! That is right near the top of the heap for 2023 in terms of replay value...in my opinion! You did Davey Mac dirty with that Wheelscene pic!
Brooms edit was class, mad the way stuff just gets swept away.
@@TomMoyse Ayyo fam 🥴
Damn a brother is literally never going to win the hair catalogue huh
Rashad Johnson for skating with 10 extra pounds of stylish dreads on his head
🏆
Tom’s mentionable knockouts in this vid: Diggy Hole and the Photo example of Wheel Scene where you couldn’t even hold back yourself haha. 2/2 snot rockets for comedic flair 🎉
Up the snot rockets. Come on
please remove the background from the video where you speak in the right low coner
Why
Amazing edit
Thanks mate
The people have spoken !
🙌🏻🏆🫡
😂❤😂❤ the best
Thanks mate
Don't care about any of their skates but the IQON T60R frame designed by Justin Thursday is the best flat frame on the market.
You look like you’re 45
I am
@@TomMoyse legend
Sean Kelso changed my life, however, Julien Cudot is the skater of the year 2023.
Why does Cudot win over Kelso - genuinely interested in your take
@@TomMoyse The context in which Sean Kelso operates as a pro skater is more abstract than the very objective achievements that Cudot made this past year. Came to a point when it was just funny seeing Julien, as you stated, basically materialize out of thin air everywhere there was a trophy and do something crazy to make sure he won it.
The dude flew everywhere and actually went out and SKATED, he put in the work on 2023 thus SOTY 2023.
Sean Kelso and his brother are inspiring in a whole different level, you watch those videos and can't help to just put on skates and check your closet for the freshest outfit you can still destroy. Last year they just showed us more of what they have been doing forever, we love them for it and actually expect them to continue to raise the bar even higher not being contained by the shackles of competitions, but unbound in creativity.
@@TomMoyse On a final note, though it could be argued that Sean Kelso did more for skating because of how inspiring and experimental he is; You or Jumbo's creator could be nominated for the award as well because of the impact that this content has for the sport. I hope I'm making sense.
But what the hell do I know? 😅
My fiance ( watching over my shoulder) just said " is that the one who tried to chat me up" about alex broskow, who did, indeed, try to chat her up at the chaz sands invitational in Unit 23 about 20 years ago.
Haha, left an impression then
Class vid as always fella 😂😂😂 that's a Canny catagory name 😂😂
Haha cheers man
I feel like the meaning of soty has changed over time because of social media. Because of this ther should be a new category that’s skill based. A lot of the arguments I hear from the sk voters is that he’s an overall “everything skater” he skates films designs and stuff plus heavy on socal media. So it seems more of a popular vote. I’m a bacemint fan too but I just think last year was cudots year. Competition videos everything. I voted for sk for the last soty but I do think cudot deserved it this year. Thers no doubt sk will produce high level content all year. But cudot displayed some real skill this year all around
Unpopular opinion: Thestutteringskater is the biggest inline skater right now and he's not mentioned on this channel because he's not aggressive.
I don't think that's an unpopular opinion, it leans more into the factual. The people who nominated skaters and then voted for their winner are predominantly aggressive skater, hence why it leans so much that way. I also mostly cover agg i've done bits on wizard, urban and off-road. The Stuttering Skater is great, what he does has a far bigger audience and he engages them really well. You know he's one of my Patreons
I still think that how much Sean beat the Torque up this year, we should go ahead and just start calling it a Kelso.
"Normally the hair style of vegan political students" 😅That period of Broskow style was definitely worrying, too much time with the LGBThem crowd.
Icon suspension for my 4runner 👍
Iqon skates for my feet 👎
