    Love the colors used, I would have loved to see what kind of reaction a drop of silicone and/or isopropyl alcohol would have done.

      Hi Cheryl!Thanks for writing and for the great suggestions! I've never used silicone in an art context. What product do you use? I'm curious. I was trained not to mix acrylics and alcohol as they are chemically incompatible and the alcohol would destabilize the acrylic polymer emulsion chemistry. In fact did you know that because of this alcohol is a solvent for acrylics? You can use it to remove dried acrylic paint from a canvas or from painting tools and work surfaces. Since I sell my work, I try to make sure the materials I am using will stand the test of time. However, that should NOT stop others from trying it. I'm all for experimentation and discovery! Not everything we make has to be perfectly archival or meant to last. The process and FUN is SO important! Happy painting!

    This may sound strange but I’m an insulin user. The insulin in the vial can’t have air bubbles. But they are two part and separate like your ink does. I roll the bottle between my hands so it mixes and no bubbles.

      Oh That sounds fun! Love how you are thinking. The key to using water with acrylics is to keep the ratio of paint or medium to water under 30%. I explain why this is in my video ua-cam.com/video/EKNpKUK4lMc/v-deo.html.

    Can I use drops of acrylic ink in pouring medium so I can do a layered pour? I have several bottles of inks and I love doing pour painting. This seems to be a very hard question for people to answer or want to answer and I don't know why.

    You could place another canvas under this canvas so that you can make another colorful art piece of waste acrylic.

    I am wondering if it would be good to mix the ink by rolling in your palm like they advise you roll nail polish rather than tipping? Wondered if that is a good method?

    • @MicheleTheberge
      @MicheleTheberge  3 роки тому

      That's an interesting idea! And worth a try. I didn't know about rolling nail polish in the palm, either! Their viscosities are quite different so my inclination is that the tipping helps the heavy pigments incorporate better in a very thin binder of the ink. Whereas with nail polish it has the viscosity of enamel paints and my experience is not as much about the pigment suspension but the separation of parts of the binder in nail polish. Let us know how it goes! Maybe try both methods and compare.

    I’ve tried the Liquitex deep colours Acrylic ink pouring set, the colours are great but even when what I make looks good, when it dries, it all blends to a dark brown and the colours are not separate. I’m using a few drops of ink, is this wrong? Am I using too much ink?

      +Kavita Adhikari Sorry I see you wanted to know brands. There are many good brands out there. I will show you in the upcoming video how to determine quality of gesso but brands I trust are Liquitex, Golden, Winsor & Newton and Lascaux.

    can I Use water instead of pouring medium?
    someone said it maybe ok if I am doing this on a mix media or watercolor paper
    while some others have told me as long as it's no more than 50%
    thing is I want my paintings to last and the info I get is confusing
    what are your thoughts?

    • @debwilliams3286
      @debwilliams3286 7 років тому +2

      You can add any medium but you will always get a different result. The fantastic thing with this is it dries super glossy, it looks great. If you use other gel mediums, they can dry matt, or glossy, depending, and may not flow like this. If you use water it will be very dilute and very matt. Also the more you dilute any acrylic paint with water, the more you risk 'underbinding' the paint- the paint needs to have lots of binder in it, and can just fall apart if you add too much water.. there are so many different products out there that are fun to use. The only thing is this pouring medium is super expensive I think..

      Hi there! I am so sorry you had trouble hearing this video. I am using a microphone, and it is the same volume as other UA-cam videos. Have you checked the slider on the UA-cam interface itself? Even if you have your computer volume all the way up. If the slider on the left-hand side of the screen is down, it will lower the audio. Another thing that can happen is if you have another app open such a Zoom the audio will also be diminished. I hope this helps!

    What is the ratio of paint to pouring medium please?

    • @MicheleTheberge
      @MicheleTheberge  3 роки тому

      There is no exact ratio. It depends on the transparency you desire and the pigment you are using. If you are looking for precision and repeatable results you can experiment on a small scale, make notes as to your ratios and then scale up. Remember the colors will dry darker so sometimes it's good to do practice runs before moving onto a canvas. Have fun, Janis!

    why do you need a pouring medium

  • @adriannatorres2796

    Hello Michele, I've watched several of your videos and have learned so much. Thank you for putting those videos together. I do have a question. I've been trying to create a vibrant and bold red using my pouring medium. However, when I mix my red acrylic paint with Liquitex Pouring Medium my paint color turns pink. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you in advance :)

    • @foeofmediocrity
      @foeofmediocrity 7 років тому +5

      Adrianna Torres I'm thinking that may be because the pouring medium has a cloudy white color to it. You can see it when she pours the virgin pouring medium on the canvas. It's almost like adding a white paint to the colors to lighten them. It's nothing you're doing wrong in your technique. It's just something you have to keep in mind when using pouring medium! I know people use airbrush medium to mix in with their acrylic paints too I haven't read anything about that affecting the vibrancy of the colors. That will make the paint super thin though, like the acrylic inks here. So if you want something thicker, the pouring medium is what you'd need to use. I am unsure if there is a clear pouring medium out there, couldn't hurt to google it maybe. I would try tiny test patches before doing the painting this way nothing gets ruined with a color result you're not expecting!

    Where is the instruction on what you are doing after dropping on the inks? This is a very poor instruction video, even if it is old. You should remove it from UA-cam.
