Syrian Delegation Visits HEC

- A delegation of Syrian Government officials, led by Deputy Minister of Education and Educational Affairs Dr. Rami Waheed Al-Dhulli, held a meeting with the senior management of HEC at the HEC Secretariat today. The two sides discussed the issues of mutual interest in detail, aiming to explore the potential areas for bilateral collaboration.
The Syrian dignitaries are visiting Pakistan to explore its education sector and seek opportunities for collaboration in virtual learning, teaching mechanisms, scientific skills, and skills proficiency of students and teachers in Information and Technology, technology-based educational projects, and scientific and cultural avenues.
In the welcome remarks, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed shed light on the development and achievements of the higher education sector in Pakistan and HEC’s pivotal role in the growth in the number of universities, improvements in access and quality of education, and the increase in the tertiary education rate. Dr Ahmed also highlighted HEC's investments in human resource development, scholarship programmes, research and development initiatives, and the promotion of ICT infrastructure in higher education institutions.
“HEC is open to extending all possible support to the Syrian higher education institutions, be it needed in policy formulation, capacity building of faculty, skill development initiatives, Information Technology, and other areas,” the Chairman stressed.
The delegation head, Dr. Rami Waheed Al-Dhulli, expressed his gratitude to HEC management for offering open-hearted support to the Syrian higher education sector. He said Syria would like to develop bilateral academic and research relations between the higher education institutions on the two sides. He observed that the two sides may collaborate in multiple areas, including professional education, IT, entrepreneurship, technology, and modern teaching methods.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Syria to Pakistan Dr. Ramez Alraee said Pakistan and Syria share a long history of relations beyond political interests, adding that Syria endears Pakistan as a brotherly Islamic country. He emphasised that Pakistan and Syria must jointly work on building economic, educational, and cultural bonds to benefit people on both sides. He hoped that the Syrian delegation’s visit to HEC and different Pakistani universities would pave the way for enhanced collaboration in the future.
The Syrian dignitaries included officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Syria, Ministry of Education, Syria, and Consular/DHM Embassy of Pakistan, Damascus Mr. Umer Hayat Khan. HEC senior officers, Pakistan's Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Federal Education and Professional Training representatives.
