What a cool video and clear explanation of this process!! Even an 80 year old woman can understand it, sort of at least. I never knew about that angle part at the derailleur. How I wish you were in Tennessee!! Thanks so much!!
Well done video! Great resource for us going forward. Thanks for making the effort to replace the previous demonstration video. Hoping Lewis (sp?) is well. This new guy is sharp. :-) Loving my Catrike 559. Great mood booster for the long stroke recovery.
Chandler I received my rear hub today and installed it. Took me about an hour and a half to figure it out. Probably would have helped to have a video on reinstalling the Nuvinci rear hub.
Greetings from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Nice work Chandler you made it look easy. I know you answer your e mails because you answered all of mine. Thanks for your help and I liked the photos of my trike.
This video what exactly what I was looking for. My only question is, what gear number should the controls on the handlebars be on? Highest or lowest gear number?
the 2 largest sprockets(front&rear) if you're pushing boom out and the chain is too short. 2 smallest sprockets if chain is too long and you're pushing boom in..
Wow! That's a lot of question marks! We sure want to provide you with answers. If you have a Pinion in the front and a single sprocket in the rear the derailleur/tensioner position will be determined by the chain length.
at 2:46 Chandler is removing a section of the chain to get it to the correct size and then at 4:04 he is connecting the two ends together with a master link. The tool he uses is used for both connecting and disconnecting a chain.
Not necessarily. You can move it in and out several inches. Just keep an eye on your derailer. Nothing to worry about when you add the chain gobbler though..
This is the best explanation I've seen on how to adjust the chain on a trike.
Even the shop owner who sold me my Expedition didn't do as good a job explaining as he fitted me at day one pickup.
I searched for this answer because I was told Utah trikes had a video that described exactly what I was looking for. Perfect and simple explanation.

I appreciate how you demonstrate that the tensioner is optional and for convenience.

Excellent video. Thanks!
Nice One ! Glad to see you guys are doing more videos
Nice video… could you add links or part numbers to the tools and chain parts you used? Heck… I’d buy a kit for my Catrike if you offered one!

Thank you for the helpful guide!
Nice video, makes it look simple. But what about adjusting the B screw?
What happened to Louis? I miss his acts.
You should also note: make sure your master link is correct for the cassette. (9-10 speed are different)
Duh!
@@barneyblackburn7829 Yes. Duh. However, I’m sure this isn’t a given for everyone.
Thanks for the video!
What brand is the chain tensioner shown at the end?
Cheers!
It’s made by Teracycle
Catrike
Would be great if you guys make a how to vid of how to replace or install regular idlers and over an under idlers that would be great.
Would you make a video to show how to adjust the chain for a NuVinci N380 CVP Hub Transmission? Thanks
On a regular bike we go big ring to big ring. Wonder why this does not work on trike?

Thanks, great tutorial!!!
Love these videos. Sizing the chain for me always seems like voodoo and black magic. I could never figure it out.
very helpful! Thank you
is the rear derailleur the same is running a single gear in back because of a pinion up front????
mine points straight down????

Please help me understand something I don't understand in this video. Why did you break the chain at 2:46 and then again at 4:04?

@@UtahTrikesOnline thanks!
Do you know if the chain tensioner will fit a Sun Seeker Trike TadpoleT3? if so, how much is the chain tensioner?
$150.00
Do you need to shorten the chain tubes on a HPV Scorpion when you put a chain gobbler on it?
Depends on the application. But I would listen to the pros.
add atleast 8 links, up too one foot of chain.
That won’t work on a CXS. Can I do the same thing by moving the seat to compensate
Nice... I want to remove the chain tensioners, more points of failure.
They are very rigid machined parts with a boatload of technology behind them. No failure there..
P.S. I like your hat.
Thank you! I supply my own wardrobe!
@@bazookamangarage329 Twos thumbs up! Mabey three!
So it's not a one size fits all. Any time you adjust the boom, you need to adjust the chain length.

Great explanation! Thank you
