Hi Dave. Great video. Thanks for introducing me to the chain tool and your great trick for keeping the chain from siding back through the chain tube. (I had been using a piece of bailing wire but that is too flexible) BUT, you left out the most important (for me) piece in your demo, which i was hoping to learn... i.e. after setting the derailleurs to the largest chain ring and cog, how do you accurately size the chain? In other words, what is the rule of thumb for how far fwd the bottom jockey wheel should be when the chain is at the correct length? Or do you hav3 some other method? Please share your knowledge in this area. Thanks much.
Thanks for commenting! Chain maintenance video is coming soon. I'll address chain length in that one. There will be other service vids coming too. make sure you're Subscribed! Thanks!
Dave great video. have you made any videos on how to degrease a chain in a ultrasonic machine and how to wax if that is one of the things you do on the ICE trike.
Thanks! I will have a video up soon about chain care. If there are other things that you would like to see concerning your trike, please leave the suggestions here...
@@repairsrule Dave, a video on how to remove and install a wheel having a Rohloff hub would be beneficial as I'm sure there are riders out there that can use a few hints on how to do this procedure.. Another good video would be how to replace Schwalbe marathon plus tires as they are extremely; stiff in the sidewall.
why not simply break the old chain, and connect the new chain to the old chain with a link. Then turn the crank to pull it thru and route it correctly. then disconnect the old chain and reconnect the beginning of the new chain to the end of the new chain with the same link?
@@repairsrule good point.. I have seen a person poke strips (4-5") of fabric thru the old chain then run those thru the chain tubes until they come out clean...

@@Rich-je9rf I don't have a Rohloff wheel to demonstrate with. The tire installation video is coming. Thanks for commenting!
The chain of a recumbent trike is 2,5 times longer than a regulair bike. Did you put 3 chains from a regulair bike togheter?
Exactly! Thanks for commenting!

Yes, you can do that. But (not shown in the video) I always swab the gunk out of the chain tubes before running a new chain through them.
