    My Son in-law was driving this one and was cut his lane by crazy driver right in front of him. He didn't have enough time to hit the brake, But the Tucson did it for him and thank God no one was hurt.

    For buyers, including of used cars, this is very good.., we have had our Tucson Active X since 2017, without trouble or cost. It has done long journeys (in Australia) including four to Melbourne and back to Sydney, say, 1,900 kms total, all easy, comfy, quiet, smooth. Nothing is less than very good so far, whether drive, handling, steering, ride, balance of power and economy.., so, if you want value, reliability, ease, room, it has been a fine all round vehicle.

    Last week purchased a 2019 Tuscon Ultimate AWD, I came out of a 2017 Lexus NX F sport AWD that I paid 18 K more than the Tuscon. Without too many specifics, the Tuscon more than holds its own. Four big differences, the Tuscon is much slower, gas mile isn't great as noted, AWD in Tuscon isn't as smooth when tires hit pools of water, and seats in no way compare. The Lexus seats were amazing. Issue for me was that the Lexus Technology was terrible. List of cool things in Tuscon that Lexus lacked include, panoramic sunroof, carplay, auto rear lift gate, triple beam LED's, wireless charging, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, cooled seats, heated back seats, and a Navigation, integrated head end that is so easy to use. Plus their telematics and warranties blow away Toyota's. Will I go back to Lexus, well maybe. BUT I hear the next Tuscon is going to be amazing and and so far my impression with this vehicle, the MFG and obvious items aside, has been favorable and impressed. For $29,000 there is no other car on the road as option rich.

      These crappy Toyota things always lack in innovation and technology. This makes them less complex and easy to work on. This bullshit is what they sell in under the tag of reliability and low maintenance. That's it.

    • @ravjohn

      The 17 NX lacked almost all technology. The Navigation, touch pad were terrible, no CarPlay, no VSC, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, cooled seats, triple beams, 365 degree camera, no auto wipers, auto high beams - And absolute worst telematics on market. I was able to sell at fair price and lease loaded Tucson for great price while putting 35k back in bank. The Tucson blows away the Lexus in terms of telematics, IOS app, navigation, Bluetooth, smart touches such as wireless charging, and many other well thought out elements that Lexus lacked. And this was my second NX as I previously owned a 15. I’m done with Lexus doing mid cycle refresh in 18, adding car play in 19 and then for 20 reworking the suspension. For 50k wireless charging and triple beam LED’s-should be standard. I suspect when the larger, faster, 8 speed 21 NX comes out it will have touch screen NAV, heads up display and finally add those items already available on the 19 RAV4. I decided to skip a few MY NX’s to allow the car to catch up to competition. I do again miss the great seats, smooth ride and way NX pushed through snow and rain. Tell you this, there are about 10 things in the new Hyundai Palisades that are so clever. I wouldn’t dismiss the 21 Tucson that Hyundai promises will blow away competitors. I am very pleased with my 19, except when taking longer trips then I do miss the NX ride but not the horrible NAV that was incapable of even basic operations. As Fortune Magazine pointed out in their review of the NX last month “Overdue for an Overhaul” and I agree.

    Because of the problems with the "GDI" engines, I would be
    very reluctant to buy one of these. Also, this vehicle has
    poor fuel economy. When gas prices increase, anyone who
    purchased this vehicle may regret having done so.
    However, if they could build a version with an efficient
    port injected engine, I would probably buy one.
    Right now, the only Hyundai vehicle that has a port injected
    engine, and respectable fuel economy is the non-Turbo
    version of the Kona.

    MIcah, kudos for noting that 100K power train warranties seldom have to be redeemed. The same, by the way, is true for Hyundai/KIA's relatively longer than typical 50K bumper-to-bumper warranty. And it's true of VW's even longer 72K BtB transferable warranty. Warranties are insurance policies. And like any insurer the manufacturer won't offer it if they lose money doing so. New car warranties are marketing tools designed to reassure skeptical customers about a brand's reputation and reflect a manufacturer's confidence that on average they will seldom if ever be redeemed. The one invariable fact is that once offered, a manufacturer will never rescind a warranty offer even when the events that led to a soiled reputation have long since been corrected. Hyundai and KIA have offered their warranties for a number of years to counter their reputation of building cheap disposable vehicles, a reputation that is long since inaccurate. VW instituted their longer warranties to counter a reputation for poor quality control that occurred nearly two decades ago.
    In fact, though Toyota/Lexus and to a more limited extent Honda retain their reputations for highly reliable vehicles, the actual margin of differences among brands has been shrinking tremendously for years. It's for that reason that the best independent metrics of reliability from sources such as the annual Consumer Reports surveys have shown considerably greater variation in rankings from model year to model year than in the past. The actual incidence of problems from brand to brand is so close that minor increases/decreases can move a brand up or down several spots. Toyota/Lexus typically hold the top spots in rankings for a variety of reasons including the fact that they jealously guard their spots with conservative engineering and avoidance of innovations that help insure that even abuse and neglect will have relatively small impacts on their vehicles.
    Consider the following hypothetical (but fairly common) example. Brand A has an average of 30 issues (of various severity) per 1000 vehicles. Brand B has 10 issues pure 1000 vehicles. Is Brand B three times as "reliable" than Brand A? Of course not. Does Brand A have three times as many issues as Brand B. Yes. But note that 97% of Brand A's vehicles have no issues compared to 99% of Brand B. The vast majority of each brand's vehicles have no issues, at all.
    It's not surprising that many consumers are especially sensitive to and value highly a vehicle's reliability. Humans tend to be especially sensitive to rare events that are especially costly when they do occur. Therefore, longer and more comprehensive warranties are reassuring if a consumer is nervous about a brand. But the fact remains that today even less reliable brands are far, far more reliable than those same brands a decade or more ago.

    The automatic hands free lift gate is a total hit or miss. I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson Sport with the feature and have kept it turned off because it opens up even when you don’t want to. Simple example: consider that you are returning near your vehicle, and only want to wait behind the vehicle for some time, may be to make a call or wait for other people, still the vehicle thinks that you want to open the lift gate and starts doing so unless you move to another area within 3 seconds!!!

    A naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine with FWD consumes 23 mpg city? That's even worse than the CX-5 turbo.

      Giving that small of an engine the weight of an SUV....of course it won't be great.

      $100 or so a year more for gas, hardly a deal breaker.

    Guys i have a question.. my tucson 2019 when engine is started, i must just very gently press the acceleration petal for some meters and then accelerate! If i try to drive immediately, it starts to push like trying to find the speed and to doesnt fully engage to the D1 etc for some seconds. My CLatch disks are brand new. Is it normal?

    Low ground clearance sucks, our 2017 got 'hung-up' a few times in the winter in our parking lot.....our next vehicle 'will' be a Subaru or a Mitsubishi, or a proper 4x4 pick-up!

    Toyota Rav4 is a safer bet for its reliability, higher resale, and the standard Toyota safety-sense package. Plus, Hyundai dealerships are usually shady AF. ⚠

    • @76carmel
      @76carmel 5 років тому +3

      Also, I think the Tucson got more popular is because Hyundai changed their base powertrain from the 1.6L turbo-4 to the 2.4L natural aspirated in-line-4.

    • @BTC909
      @BTC909 5 років тому +3

      Problems with the 1.6L Turbo. Head Gasket leaks, intake manifold gets junked up. Plus paired with a DCT wasn't a good combo for even the medium term.

    I purchased a 2021 Tucson , one of the safety features i like are the anti collision sensor as well of the 7 air bag on the interior, unfortunately i was in a accident which results in a total loss, believe it or not non of the airbags was deployed and the anti collision sensor in a medium sensitivity was not working as well.
    I would not recommend the brand at all.
    After inspection by Hyundai ingeniers they said that everything works normal lol even with the physical and obvious results.
    Please think twice before to decide to buy those brand.
    Also check the recalls that they have are a lot , and some of them related with safety features.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

    I have the ultimate for 8 month now and I love it. On the downside it have some annoying and other very annoying, at 6 month I lose all power but was able to drive to the nearest hyundai, same thing at 7 month, this is anoying, driving on the hightway and losing power is not fun. The others inconvenient is the rain, when it's rainning the camera do not give a good view and in winter it's worst, I need to clean them up very often. Also, in a blizard the radar can have too much snow and it stop working and when you have this you have two light comming on and the safety braking goes off. The spare tire space is not very good, you have plenty of space but nothing to help be organized so the tire tools goes everywhere and all the stuff you put ther too. Finally the app or the web program are not the same and both are very very very very slow. I know, I complaint a bunch but I still love this Tucson, it turn around better than my previous Elantra and in spring it's fun on the road.

    If you buy a Hyundai be prepared to spend minimum of $175-$500 every month on BS problems you will never experience in a quality car like an Honda. Every other month you will have to replace 1 0f 6 to 8 catalytic converters that go out for no reason like clock work one after the other. Your gas line will need replacing, then your gas tank that rotted from the inside for no apparent reason. Your check engine light will be on more than it is off. When you finally replace the entire engine and decide you've had enough, and sell it for next to nothing, you'll buy yourself an Acura and realize that it never needs maintenance, that it isn't normal to be without your car every other month because it's in the shop again, and you'll swear like I did to NEVER buy another Hyundai again!!!

      God no. The RAV4 is bloated, too many angles, and looks straight from 2002. The Tucson and CX-5 carry the best looking title for many including myself. I just don't see how the RAV4 looks good. Usually designs grow on me but most Toyota's always seem either boring or ugly within the last 15 years.
