Hi, Can someone please help me? My lens cover doesn't open. Can someone have a solution? I have tried everything. I also cannot find where to reset it, so that might help.
I was given one in 2009, never managed to get the footage off. Does it require unlocking? The USB cable doesn't recognize it. I wonder if I can use a card reader on the sd card to get the footage off or screen capture with the HDMI micro cable. Come on GUYS, throw me a bone here, the wife's annoyed because it's got anniversary footage!!!!
It is funny that you said that one needs to configure Vegas "strangely". 1080/60i is the same as 1080i30, just different notation, the first is field-based (60 fields per second), the other is frame-based (30 interlaced frames per second). Add to this a quirk that stems from the days when NTSC was updated for color, frame rate was reduced by 1000/1001 to approximately 29.97 fps, so field rate was reduced to 59.94 respectively. I can see that your video is 60p and there is no combing or ghosting, so I guess you figured out how Vegas does deinterlacing: you need to either set your project to 29.97 interlaced or to 59.94 progressive and set deinterlacing mode to "interpolate", then render into 59.94 fps progressive-scan file.
had one of these given to me, but Japanese only . Where language change should have been, no option. Oh well , for the bin. shame as seemed to be a very well built , quality item. I managed to see some playback from previous owner, the shot is very steady, no shake.
I recently got one of these from eBay and I was wondering if anyone have experience using the flash?? Despite turning it on in the settings it does not fire!! Im hoping it’s not broken!
thanks for the in-depth review. it's a slick looking camera, but the footage probably isn't so slick. that's too bad you can't use bigger batteries, but that's the design they had in mind.
60i means you're going to be running it through QTGMC at anywhere from "slow" to "placebo". If you know your way around Vegas, it's really not a big deal at all. Also, for surround, you gotta set it in Vegas, otherwise your right channel sounds like ass. It has to do with decoding. Not a big deal if you know Vegas pretty well.
QTGMC is amazing, I've been using it to convert tapes and discs to progressive and they look fantastic. Vegas's deinterlacer is good too, but it's got a somewhat limited scope.
I'll give ya that one. I used Vegas' built in deinterlacer set to interpolate to deal with video out of my Canon XF100 for a bit and, eugh. Figured out that I could use 4:2:2 directly ("ConvertToYV16()") using VirtualDub as the renderer with the DebugMode frame server, but man, what an aside to standard fare that experience was. As for surround, I tacked that thing about knowing Vegas well because holy crap, I had to dig for an embarrassingly long time before I figured out how to properly deal with it in a moderately improper way (read: set '5.1 channel surround' and then set back to 'stereo' after building peaks and adjusting everything else manually with envelopes and completely nuking the center channel from existence). Standard stereo on Sony's camcorders with surround is biased toward the front (sensibly so, but still).
hey! would like to ask about the picture quality on the camcorder =) saw someone selling this secondhand and was thinking of getting it! how do you think it would compare to other cameras like the sony cyber shot? thanks x
As far as picture quality goes, you'd likely be better off getting a Cybershot. The general rule of thumb is that camcorders do not make very good cameras for still photos. That being said, I'd still recommend this camcorder for collector's sake, if that's your interest, they were a rather interesting design, and they're pretty durable too.
Indeed there is! The camcorder has another DC jack located behind a slide-out door on the lower side of the camera. It is on the opposite side of the camera as the screen.
As long as you have a USB cable you should be able to connect it to your mac. I can't confidently talk on an apple computer's compatibility with AVCHD video due to limited experience. As far as compatible programs go, VLC should be able to play files back, and programs like Sony/Magix Movie Studio and Vegas Pro are good editors.
@@FatCatTech sorry to jump on the thread! but I am struggling to connect mine to my windows laptop, I don't know where abouts on the handycam to plug a lead in? i bought it off eBay and feel like i don't have the right lead with it. could you let me know where i would plug it in too on the handycam? and what lead i will need? thankyou!
Hey there's no issue with keeping the conversation flowing now xD. There's a couple of ways to get the camcorder connected to a PC. If the camcorder was shipped with the attachable dock, you could use the USB on it. If it didn't come with that, it might have also shipped with an adapter that plugs into the dock port and allows for a USB cable to be used there as well. If all else doesn't work, there are card readers one may be able to buy from Walmart or Amazon. I have one from The Imaging World that's alright, and one from Sunpak that is an abysmal failure, but it gets the job done sometimes. If you get a card reader, make certain it supports Memory Stick Pro Duo cards (most, if not all, should, though).
Its such a boring benchmark, though. Video is actually very much for the benefit of the videographer...i'd take this or a VHS camcorder over taking any video on my phone because i like the way these feel in my hands, especially over how the phone does.
Could be some kind of mechanical failure, had the same thing happen with an HDR-CX130. It might also be that some debris is stuck in the opening mechanism. Either way, your better bet is to try to get it open to repair it, see what's not moving when it's supposed to be.
Many of indie albums and films I've seen this camcorder during 2008-09
Omfg that music started playing and now all i can think about is the roaring 20s part of Carousel of Progress
hola, donde puedo comprar el Button Flex Cable For Sony HDR-TG1 (ph27500). Puedo grabar, pero no puedo sacar fotografías.
favor su orientación

this review was great. i found one of these babies on my local trade website and was thinking about buying it.
They're pretty cool, certainly rare to find as well. Just remember that these are somewhat old so they record in 60i and not 60p.

What? The quality is too nice to use for Camcorder look. If you want higher quality, just get a gopro

Hi! Thank you a good review.

I dont have the stand for the camera anymore. But can i charge the battery without using the stand? is there another way

so I'm thinking about buying one of these, but the thing is will I be able to connect it with my
