- There were many re-brands of this box, like Tecsonic, Clairtone, Supertech, Intersound, and Torec......but only the Promax version was carried by Radio Raheem in the movie Do the Right Thing. It's a massive box at 31 inches wide and 16.25 inches tall. It has 6 speakers, 4-band tuner, and a 10-band graphic equalizer. Powered by 10 D-cell batteries which were drained very quickly. Video taken by the boombox owner, UA-cam member rob_assassin (@robassassin on Instagram).
The days when having as many flashing lights as possible, was as important as the music!
I think that hasn't change. Blinking lights are all over the place. Speakers, PC Keyboards whatever . The thing that changed is the color range. To be honest I don't like all the colors. Whenever a device has a blue LED I put black tape on it 😄I prefer LEDs in red, green and yellow. Yes, I'm 40+ yo.😁
This is a work of art! A true classic 😍
That brings me beautiful memories from my childhood up in the 80s
Nice! I always love looking at a Super Jumbo with all of its LEDs lighting up the room.
This is a MONSTER!
Fight the Power!! Do the right thing Mookie! Radio Rahim !
Reminds me of a 90's version of my old Helix.
My inner 12 yr old brain remembers wanting one of those so bad back in the day.
The right songs to be playing out of this box!
Top boombox and tunes planet rock and play at your own risk
Do the right thing brings me here !
this one is super fire .
Yeah!! That's the same PROMAX boom box I had
Espectacular
This is very cool. It looks like the central uvmeter has side mirror effect
ich liebe das teil :) ich habe ihn als ''SuperTech''
Que maravilla !!
Awesome
Any suggestions on where I could sell mine? I restored one as a project and I just don't have the space to keep it.
Honestly, Ebay is your best bet, because the large audience drives the bids up. The next best site would be Reverb.
I see that Tecsonic also makes this model but I believe the promax came out first and the promax was used in the movie "Do the right thing". I heard about some of the boombox meetups. How do I find out more information about any boombox meetups in Southern California?
Sadly, it's been about more than 3 years since we did anything like that. We did it a few times at Venice Beach but I heard that scene has changed due to the homeless situation. I will talk to the guys on the Boomboxery forum and see what they think. If anything gets scheduled I will post it on this channel
