Wow, that looks great. Thank you for showing us how to.
Hey Jon! Looking forward to sharing a hot cup of coffee with you while admiring that newly polished stove! As usual, nice job, great video and excellent choreography as you danced around that stove! Right on Jon !!
That looks fantastic!!!!! I bet it has a lot of uses too. Great stuff Jon!!!!
Lol, the cat came to inspect your work!
Right On! 🙌 Yeah that’s my cat Meow Meow!
Thanks Jon, just what I needed. Was just about to buy some BBQ paint.
Came out Beautiful ,i have that paste also but i just bought a new stove.🙂
Interesting product! Thanks for the tip.
You can get Imperial Stove Polish at most hardware stores.
Nice vid! I would like to paint the logo and pine tree graphics on my Fisher wood stove. What brand of paint might you recommend? Thanks!
Hi from Greece ! Excellent and rather simple job.
Is that paste suitable for both steal and cast iron stoves, as i have both ...
Thanks
Nik
Right On! 🙌Thanks for watching Nik! Yes that is good for both! Seems to work best if it’s unpainted 👍 I put a coat on every few years.
@@RightOnJonCrane Thank you very much my friend !
Have a good time !
If you clean it the way you intially did. But instead of paste you season it just like a cast iron skillet. No more rust. Just every few years re season it. Some use bacon grease. Some just buy some lard. Mine has been seasoned once a year for 3 yrs and then it has not been seasoned in around 8 yrs and still looks new.
Bacon grease! That actually sounds good and probably smells good too. At least for a while. Also good to make use of something readily on hand like lard. Thanks for the tip!
I really wish to know how to season it with lard .
I heard canola oil has the highest burn temp and is great for seasoning grills, smokers and stoves
Went through ALL the comments before asking. But since I did not see any mention of it ; I will ask. What does it smell like when you first fire the stove after treatment....Do you have to wear that mask ???🤣😅 😆
It’s something you’ll want to have the windows open and some ventilation going. It’s not crazy bad like spray paint but still some off gassing. 🙌✨🐻
I redid my stove with sanding and painting and the paint was everywhere. Wife cursed me out. Can’t wait to try this! Thank you really appreciate it .and it was so much work and didn’t come out like I wanted it to
Nice video, I applied the imperial stove polish paste on my old stove and buffed it but I still get black coming off when I touch it so I buff some more with a clean towel and more black comes off? How did you get yours so you can touch it without getting black fingers?
would you recommend 1 jar of paste for that size stove?
Yes, one jar can do several coats on a stove! Thanks for watching! ✨👍
Love the video... only thing that I would add is that the first fire should be on a cool but warmer day so that you can off gas to the outside without freezing to death on the inside! Your right, not as bad as the paint, but still don't should not be excessively breathing in those fumes.
Nice! How long did it take to rust like that indoors there in the first place? And how long will this prevent the rust from coming back?
As far as I know that stove has always looked like that! I do have a smaller Fisher Baby Bear and I put a coat of the paste on every five years or so. Right On! 👍
@@RightOnJonCrane very cool!
@@RightOnJonCrane did the baby bear not rust?
@@donaldatkinson7937 It has rusted in the past from sitting in a shed. If I put a coat of paste on every so often it’s good to go. It’s a nice looking finish. I see now that I could put another coat on the papa bear stove in the shop.
Hi Mr. Jon, this is Interesting to me as I am searching for that perfect looking potbelly stove for my shop...and when I find it this will come in handy, so thanks for sharing... is this something you do to it every year? Thanks for sharing!
You shouldn't need to, just don't let your stove get rusty, when it starts to get a little rust spot just take a wet cloth and some ashes from inside the stove and scrub it off, if you get one with a glass door you can use it to clean the soot stains aswell.
@@yorkleroy5605 thank ya Mr. York
@@bigvicsworkshop your welcome
Is that a Fisher Mama Bear? I have a Findlay stove that looks like a copy of the Mama Bear. Can't find any info on the Findlay!
When you polish it do you just wipe it down with a clean towel, or did you put something else on it?
I did wipe it down with a clean towel! Almost like polishing with wax!
Stove doesn't put out much heat . You have to have really hot burning wood
Does this paste prevent rust?
What’s the name of the polisher/sander with the hose…where to get..thanks
Earl Shieb? How are you old enough to remember?
Ha! Right On! 🙌 Oh yeah that commercial was on all the time! I can forget that voice! My Dad said he got his car painted by his shop back in the 60’s! Said it wasn’t the best but cheap!
Jon , how much stove polish paste did you use on this stove?
Hi! It doesn’t take much. This is a small jar and I could probably do 3 stoves with it. So probably 1/3 jar to do the whole stove. 👍
How do you get the residue off. I have scrubbed and scrubbed and also used a buffer. No one can get around the wood burner stove or touch it without getting black on them. I have even burnt the stove, it still has the black residue. I may have to resort using soap and water or some type of oil.
Were you able to get it so that you can touch without getting black hands?
@@RandyKJohnson1031 yes. I burnt it and scrubbed it with soap and super hot water, then I painted it. I wish I had painted it in the beginning.
what temp is this stuff rated to and once the enitial first burn is done does it still produce an odor or all good ?
Right On Jon. What a transformation and it didn't take all day!🇺🇸👍 Roger
Right On Roger! 👍 So quick and looks so good!
does this burn off over time?
It won’t burn off but it’s good to put a coat on every couple of years. 🙌✨
Thanks for sharing. How long does it last, from your experience?
I put a coat on each year. It can go about two years. Thanks for watching!
Здравствуйте покажите пожалуйста почему такая форма печей
Oh yes, these are great wood stoves. They can hold up to 30” logs. 🪵🔥

What did you use for the 'polish' after you applied the paste? It looks shinier
You just use a rag. The paste looks shinier after it is wiped down, once it’s dry.
You did not listen
Why didn't you listen ?
Good day. Where do I buy the stove polish paste pls. I'm in Oudtshoorn South Africa.
Yeah, I guess it's about time I haul the natural gas heater out of the attic. :-)
Hey Jon, I am currently restoring a 1977 Fisher Grandpa Stove and plan to use this paste (thanks for sharing). I wondered if there was anything else besides acetone I could clean the stove with as I don’t have any. Though if the answer is no I could certainly go buy some.
I'm looking around for a Fisher stove, but I can't find one nearby
Muratic acid, copper brushes or wire ones work great..... diesel will work but I wouldn't use it inside bwah ha ha
Any light spirits which evaporate quickly and with no oily residue will do: paint thinner or alcohol would be good options, hotter stuff like acetone or xylene are effective but aren't necessary. The point is to tack rag it clean. DO NOT use diesel, it will stink up the place and worse still leaves a residue which will make carbon black (stove paste) not stick well. Acids can be used for removing rust, but be careful that you don't do more harm than good. Phosphoric acid (Ospho is a common branded product) is a good option for treating/removing rust that leaves a chemically stable end result which will not flash rust. You should still clean up afterwards with spirits if you use it. Muriatic acid will aggressively take the rust off, but leaves a surface that is extremely susceptible to flash rusting. For a surface that isn't going to be painted, it could end up making it look terrible after a short period of time.
That gores on raw metal correct?
Yes indeed! 👍 Thanks for watching!
Didn't watch the video then ?
I polished the pellet stove about a month ago. I'm still getting black dust off of it. Why? I buffed it out as my last step.
Hi
Where can I get this product?
I want to purchase this product...
Thank you!!!! Big help!
Wow that was impressive, looks like an amazing product.
It really is great! ✨🙌
Lol.....I got all those references and now have several theme songs rattling around. Cheers from Texas ❤
That paste really done a cool job on the stove Jon 👍🏻🇬🇧
Thanks Jim! 👍 🪵🔥 It really spruces up the shop!
mommy kitty tail is waggin pretty good, she must love her home with you...txs for sharing
Thanks! Subscribed!!
What grit sandpaper did you use?
I think I used 220 👍 Right On! 🙌 Thanks for watching!
@@RightOnJonCrane thanks Jon! Appreciate the content and reply.
That looks great! Cheers
Right on Joe! 👍✨
Best music score for this type of video!!!😂
Thank you
Can you use this on the inside of the stove?
No not for use inside. I think it would burn off quickly. Thanks for watching! Right on 👍 🪵 🔥
Are you on drugs ?
Don't use it on windows either , in case you ask
I remember $19.95 for a paint job when I was young. Like the way the polish looks. Hope the cat doesn't try to jump on the heater when it's lit off. Thanks for the look.
