  • In this how to we are going to look how to land on runway 35L from Denver International Airport (KDEN) using ILS. We are going fully automatic by using the approach function from the autopilot in our Beechcraft King Air 350i.

Thanks I just needed to know where to enter the NAV frequency! Time to start-up the sim and have a go!

Gah, why does every tutorial start with the STAR and Approach already programmed. That's what I need to learn how to do, because for some reason the Nav button doesn't want to seem to follow the approach half the time if I wait to actually get assigned an approach and transition from ATC to program it.

hi Aaron I can make one if you want the thing you need to be aware of is that if you assign the STAR after ATC assignment the aircraft will likely fly back and you need to use the direct option to fly to the next waypoint after which it will pickup the STAR

How do you setup the flight plan before entering ils frequency

msfs will do that part automatically if you add the ils approach via the fms

Nice and quick tutorial. Why no papi in the US? For manual landing papi is almost essential for non auto land. Also, I don't think another plane coming in the opposite direction is normal ;), all in all though, a great tutorial.... GS = Glide Slope, but you knew that :)

hi Jam goog question I didn’t saw the papi lights when I was recording this video but with the latest updates I saw them. It looks like papi lights are still rolling out according to this article: www.boldmethod.com/learn-to-fly/systems/how-papi-lights-work-airport-vgsi-vasi-day-night/

And bro one final question. Can u activate the approach after the atc tell u to? Or should i activate it when i see the glidscope?

Hi Himaru you can select the approach already if you are flying the STAR however what I do on most cases is look at both the STAR and approach of an airport. Because the STAR normally ends where the real approach will start. As soon as I arrive at the approach starting point I active the approach mode which will capture the glidescope. This does not always happen immediately sometimes you need to wait a bit for this to happen.
