It doesn’t do anything. This man is unlikely to have any medical education because it’s actually a chore to correct everything that is wrong in this video. I’m not sure what kind of doctor he is, but it certainly cannot be a medical or legitimate scientific degree. If you’re interested, I’ve listed a fraction of everything wrong with this video below. The lesson is don’t take medical advice from people on the internet. Hydrochloric acid isn’t even close to strongest acid. Acidity is dependent highly on things like molarity, not just pH. You can take a drop of hydrochloric acid on your tongue and be fine. Lemon juice contains weak acids that are highly regulated in your body such as citric acid (citrate). It is only modestly alkaline in ONLY the stomach because it is relatively alkaline in the presence of the strong acid found in the stomach (HCl), however it merely acts like a buffer. Furthermore, the citric acid cycle is the most regulated biochemical process in your entire body and you have no ability to mess with it. Both your stomach and blood pH are also highly regulated, and attempt to manipulate this is immediately rectified for good reason. It’s why TUMS don’t work meaningfully. You take the TUMS and your body will just produce more acid within a few minutes. Don’t take lemon juice because it irritates your mucosa on the way down. Instead, stop nicotine, chocolate, alcohol. Elevate the head of your bed by two inches with a wooden block. Omeprazole or other PPIs can be useful but I’d be careful because it’ll mess with B12. Alkaline diets do not work for the many reasons above. There is no evidence that alkaline diets do anything. Mixing water with your lemon juice also does nothing.
Lemon juice doesn't make it worse nor does it "alkalize" the stomach's acids. In fact it does the exact opposite. It raises the acidic levels which is why it works and helped relieve her symptoms, and adding water to it negates the benefits of the acidity. Acid reflux is caused by an over alkalized stomach, meaning your acids are not strong enough, and lemon juice helps add the acidity that your stomach is lacking. However the root cause is usually a B1 deficiency. By eating too many sugar and carbs, it can delete vitamin B1 and this vitamin is needed to work the valves properly. Your stomach valve won't close properly without enough B1 causing the burning. Take B1 in the form of non-fortified nutritional yeast. Don't use fortified nutritional yeast because it has synthetic vitamins added to it that your body won't recognize as well. Even still, taking B1 will only put yet another Band-Aid on your symptom. In order to cure the problem, cut out excessive sugar and processed carbs so your body will stop dumping all your vitamin B1.

@@GameChanger597 I mean drinking straight lemon juice, I love lemon juice. But it irritates my stomach that I get acid reflux. Not sure what caused the issue first the lemons or the Chilli "hot souse" love both on mangos 😋
You're going to have to explain to me how adding an acid with the pH of two or three two relatively neutral tap water which is about a 6.5 to a 7.5 depending on your area is supposed to add alkalinity to your body when your body is already causing acid reflux.
Fight fire with fire? Your stomach produces less acid in the presence of acid like canceling each other out kinda
"Despite its low pH, lemon juice is considered alkaline-forming because after it's metabolized it leaves an alkaline ash in the body."
@@j1407bmoon what the fuck did i just read.
Pick up a chemistry book, jesus
I am glad that you step in ,to explained that lemon is a good sources of vitamin c. But as you explained, the avid is extremely dangerous if you keep taking, with not water. She already have a damaged in her enamel in her teeth also her intestines line are now damage. She will become constipated..
Thanks ;Dr ,: Mandel. To explained the effects of the lemon acids.
God blessed you always.
😮😮
I prefer sunomo aka Japanese cucumber salad ( made with rice viniger, onions a bit of suger water and dried kelp)When i het a "sour"or upset stomach or reflux i eat that and the acidity in my stomach is rebalanced and taste good too
This also helps after you've had your gallbladder removed because the function of the gallbladder is to produce an acid that helps break down the food
Just had mine removed 2 weeks ago. What acid does the gallbladder produce?
Man I had no idea. I used to drink so much lemon juice when I was young I loved it so much I probably went through 2 bottles a week. Wish I woulda knew this back then😩
My boy use drink it too ..
Thank you for this, its a great help.
Apple cider vinegar (usually diluted but sometimes I was too hurt to wait) helped my acid reflux tremendously and stopped the pain of severe gallstones. Nothing else stopped that pain.
Lemon water does make me feel amazing when I drink it daily.
OH, it will destroy your enamel I found out the hard way so use a straw, never brush the acidic food or drink into your teeth use mouthwash instead and brush later. I wish I knew all this
Damn lol
I would die from that! I have to take nexium daily just to be able to eat.
@kat it isn't diet,it's damage from a med I used to take. I have pre-cancerous changes in my esophagus from it.
This actually worked for me. I was taking omeprazole for more than 10 years to control my acid reflux. I was fed up with it when someone suggested that I try drinking lime juice before my meals. Bam 💥 no more acid reflux..
I love that lemons are so cheap. I got a 1L bottle w/straw. 1 lemon costs .40 cents. Slice a lemon into 4s. I just squeese a slice into a bottle every other day.
Makes me feel like a toddler, but its tasty.
You should do more videos like this !!
Just blend the whole lemon.
Don't confuse them even more🤣
Thank you Dr. Mandell!
I watched Dr Mandell video, he said to eat fennel seeds , just a few and it helps with tummy problems. So try it .but they taste like licorice
I'll try that
1 tsp to 1 glass of water 💧
I think he said tablespoon

I wish I had known this a year ago. I was taking imiprazole and it caused me to have stage3B chronic kidney disease! Apparently it is rare, but in some people this medicine affects kidneys and causes tubuloininterstitial nephritis. I just happened to be one of those people.
A few drops of lemon in your water helps balance the ph levels of our water where it should be. Online you can find the appropriate amt of drops to ozs..
Also her: “My acid reflux is gone because I can’t feel my throat any more.” 😂
Thanks for letting me know I need to use a straw. I only used it when I drank ACV.
TikTok is so stupid.
Agreed. Very cringy
THANK YOU......
It's china's best method to destroy the west
No it's not, it's informative and real but not at face value all the time, def research
Exactly
It's essentially titrating/buffering a strong acid with a slightly weaker acid.
Pickle juice helps too it also help in production of good gut bacteria
I knew about that with the enamel! I was told that when I was getting my teeth worked on years ago. Since then, I don't eat lemons alone like a orange.
Source: trust me bro, I'm wearing a gown
I'm so glad I saw this. Thanks, Dr. Mandell
Thanks for using lemon juice the correct way.
Limes for me.
Thanks for the tip, doc!
Sincerely,
Someone with barrets esophagus!
I also have that. I got rid of reflux by stopping red wine and tomato sauce. Apple cider diluted stops it in its tracks.
I love the little lemon graphic, so cute!
I appreciate that you aren't saying no, just "Do it the right way."
The last time I squeezed lemon juice on my salad, my gut burned in agony for 3 days.
