Okay…explain how lemon juice, diluted, is alkaline or alkalizing the body. From what I understand acid reflux, most cases, is caused by the body not producing enough acid and the sphincters stay open, this the stomach acid rises past the stomach and i to the esophagus, hence the burn. The added acidity from the lemon juice raises the pH of the gastric juices enough so the sphincter senses the acidity and closes. Hence the relief of acid reflux by drinking acid.

It doesn’t do anything. This man is unlikely to have any medical education because it’s actually a chore to correct everything that is wrong in this video. I’m not sure what kind of doctor he is, but it certainly cannot be a medical or legitimate scientific degree. If you’re interested, I’ve listed a fraction of everything wrong with this video below. The lesson is don’t take medical advice from people on the internet. Hydrochloric acid isn’t even close to strongest acid. Acidity is dependent highly on things like molarity, not just pH. You can take a drop of hydrochloric acid on your tongue and be fine. Lemon juice contains weak acids that are highly regulated in your body such as citric acid (citrate). It is only modestly alkaline in ONLY the stomach because it is relatively alkaline in the presence of the strong acid found in the stomach (HCl), however it merely acts like a buffer. Furthermore, the citric acid cycle is the most regulated biochemical process in your entire body and you have no ability to mess with it. Both your stomach and blood pH are also highly regulated, and attempt to manipulate this is immediately rectified for good reason. It’s why TUMS don’t work meaningfully. You take the TUMS and your body will just produce more acid within a few minutes. Don’t take lemon juice because it irritates your mucosa on the way down. Instead, stop nicotine, chocolate, alcohol. Elevate the head of your bed by two inches with a wooden block. Omeprazole or other PPIs can be useful but I’d be careful because it’ll mess with B12. Alkaline diets do not work for the many reasons above. There is no evidence that alkaline diets do anything. Mixing water with your lemon juice also does nothing.
Lemon juice doesn't make it worse nor does it "alkalize" the stomach's acids. In fact it does the exact opposite. It raises the acidic levels which is why it works and helped relieve her symptoms, and adding water to it negates the benefits of the acidity. Acid reflux is caused by an over alkalized stomach, meaning your acids are not strong enough, and lemon juice helps add the acidity that your stomach is lacking. However the root cause is usually a B1 deficiency. By eating too many sugar and carbs, it can delete vitamin B1 and this vitamin is needed to work the valves properly. Your stomach valve won't close properly without enough B1 causing the burning. Take B1 in the form of non-fortified nutritional yeast. Don't use fortified nutritional yeast because it has synthetic vitamins added to it that your body won't recognize as well. Even still, taking B1 will only put yet another Band-Aid on your symptom. In order to cure the problem, cut out excessive sugar and processed carbs so your body will stop dumping all your vitamin B1.

@@GameChanger597 I mean drinking straight lemon juice, I love lemon juice. But it irritates my stomach that I get acid reflux. Not sure what caused the issue first the lemons or the Chilli "hot souse" love both on mangos 😋
This also helps after you've had your gallbladder removed because the function of the gallbladder is to produce an acid that helps break down the food
Just had mine removed 2 weeks ago. What acid does the gallbladder produce?
A few drops of lemon in your water helps balance the ph levels of our water where it should be. Online you can find the appropriate amt of drops to ozs..
This actually gives me acid reflux
That’s because it’s bull haha.
Nah, you got acid refrax.
Drink diluted banana peel juice
I'm an internet dOkTuR.
Doctor said: use only one table spoon lemon juice in 8 ounces water. Listen.
@Not Necessarily The News
But now even you have understood that only one spoon in a full of glass water is not harmful, he just corrected the lady's video honestly. 🥰
This video also gives me newly developed acid reflux
You're going to have to explain to me how adding an acid with the pH of two or three two relatively neutral tap water which is about a 6.5 to a 7.5 depending on your area is supposed to add alkalinity to your body when your body is already causing acid reflux.
Fight fire with fire? Your stomach produces less acid in the presence of acid like canceling each other out kinda
"Despite its low pH, lemon juice is considered alkaline-forming because after it's metabolized it leaves an alkaline ash in the body."

Thank you so much you're so insightful and knowledgeable I have a question for you do you have a remedy for I've been having bad cramps in my legs mainly around my kneecap appreciate your help
Good job, you don’t throw out the tip but teach the problems and how to do it right 👍
Just like Gaylord Fockers mama, didn't throw out the tip
Learned this the hard way had a organic lemon addiction. I would slice it eat the peel and all with a little salt😫 I miss it so much!
I used to do that when I was a little girl I loved women and salt but I haven't been able to chew ice since the age of 10. No cavities until I was 17 years old so my teeth were always good but that lemon juice is a doozy
I have drank much lemon juice since childhood in tea etc.now my teeth are either gone or black-it ate the enamel off
Thanks Dr Mandell
For sharing this information
Thanks for the tip, doc!
Sincerely,
Someone with barrets esophagus!
I also have that. I got rid of reflux by stopping red wine and tomato sauce. Apple cider diluted stops it in its tracks.
Mom always told me not to bite lemons cause it would ruin the enamel on my teeth. Momma knew best
Brush your teeth afterwards voila
@@ashleyworkman1566 nope, the acid weakens the enamel and then if you brush straight after then your more likely to brush the weakened enamel away
That’s why a dentist will tell you NOT to brush your teeth directly after eating
You are doing more damage than good!
Can also drink apple cider vinegar.
With water, of course.
I never knew this... But I always ask for water with lemon 🍋... Everytime I go out to eat 💯💪🏾
So good to see you, I’ve missed seeing and hearing your advice 💜💙
Thank you for teaching us...I appreciate this video.
I wish I had known this a year ago. I was taking imiprazole and it caused me to have stage3B chronic kidney disease! Apparently it is rare, but in some people this medicine affects kidneys and causes tubuloininterstitial nephritis. I just happened to be one of those people.
Man I had no idea. I used to drink so much lemon juice when I was young I loved it so much I probably went through 2 bottles a week. Wish I woulda knew this back then😩
My boy use drink it too ..
Thank you for this Dr ❤️ ❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dude lemon juice is great for indigestion! My anxiety gets triggered when I go out of town (my indigestion is influenced by my stress levels), so I pack lemon juice and just drink it religiously (in water) throughout the span of the trip and it really makes a huge difference. Regular water doesn't work like I grew up hearing.
I'll try that
1 tsp to 1 glass of water 💧
I think he said tablespoon

Mint gets rid of my acid reflux!
Yes mint teas will sooth upset stomachs. Great for after dinner.
Mints peppermint are the worse things to take for acid reflux.
@@cynthiabragg2611 works for me 👍
This completely solved my problem as well. No matter what people say, meds didn’t work and lemon juice was a miracle.
This is why I NEVER EVER EVER try any of these things. Thank you so much for your channel I'm subscribing immediately!
I would die from that! I have to take nexium daily just to be able to eat.
@kat it isn't diet,it's damage from a med I used to take. I have pre-cancerous changes in my esophagus from it.
Grapes 🍇 100% Organic all natural grape juice 🥤 and Melons 🍈 are actually fantastic for Acid Reflux too!! It does wonders!
I'm actually going through a bad stomach right now it's burning 🔥
Apple cider vinegar! It does wonders. 1 teaspoon taken directly followed by some water or 1 tablespoon diluted in 8 oz of water. Doterra has a product called Digest Zen. It's amazing! I take one or two drops in hot water in a form of tea. I also apply it on my stomach and the reflex points on the bottoms of my feet. Mint or chamomile tea is quite soothing as well but I use that for indigestion more than heartburn/acid reflux. You can also try looking into acupressure or acupuncture. Best of luck!
@@mariboni516 thanks for all the tips I appreciate it I will try the apple cider and see how that goes. I need to lay off the sugary stuff
I haven't seen your vlogs for a while... I'm glad that you are back!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Excellent advice! I drank lemon water for years with no thought to the effect the acid would gave on my teeth. Paying for that now!
Excellent advice about dilution
News to me: the effects of it on tooth enamel.
“Cleanse your liver” did you even go to med school? 😂
This generation of young people scare me. They think they're so smart with no actual education and empty asf.
They don’t teach natural healing in med school smh
@@TengenHasAFavoriteWife no, y’all dumb ! This generation is woke! We don’t need education to help us heal. Med schools do not teach natural healing. They just cut u up and force u pop pills in ur body that makes you worse over time
Because of all the crap that in our food it helps the liver especially if you have NAFLD
Did a great job cleaning my liver. Sprinkled little slat on ii and gave it a good scrub with half a lemon and the grime came straight off.
Hello Doc so I used to visit with a local MD he was seeing a patient who had the hiccups for a about a month so I told the MD that squizzing half. A lemon in the patients mouth and ask him to swallow the juice hole would take care of the hiccups it works
The last time I squeezed lemon juice on my salad, my gut burned in agony for 3 days.
Never take dietary advice from a 12 year old. Ever!
Limes for me.
I mix with acv daily with 16 oz of water . Yes rinse throughly with water after consuming
TikTok is so stupid.
Agreed. Very cringy

Exactly
Just blend the whole lemon.
Don't confuse them even more🤣
This doctor is wonderful and the straw and dilute is TRUE. SHES GOING TO GET PEOPLE HURTING THEMSELVES EVEN MORE
It's all the processed food, carbs and sugar people eat.
You have been misled about making carbs the enemy. Calories in and calories out is the only way to get fat or slim.
Sooo I was waiting on the enamel comment. I used to eat whole lemons. Started off eating them out of my tea. Years later my dentist told me I'd basically ruined my teeth. 😬
F
Same, I loved lemons with salt growing up
Acid reflux is misnamed. It’s extreme alkaline that boils up the esophagus. The lemon acid equalizes that alkaline back to an acid. The stomach manages acids very well to digest foods down to a molecule size.
tell me you've never taken a chemistry class without telling me you've never taken a chemistry class☠️☠️
how do you “cleanse your liver” when your liver’s entire job is to do that itself? 😕
Just like you can cleanse a dishwasher, clothes washing machine, air filters...etc..
