lol her "friend" President Reagan? The same President Reagan that discussed supporting Argentina win the Falklands War? Your words are cute - but the United States is no friend of Great Britain.
Tony England do you not know the history of that war.The Only reason the US first started supporting Argentina was because they are in the part of the world where the United States needs to control that area. Secondly after the conflict was escalating the United States supported Britain because even they knew that what Argentina did was not good at all and also if the US continued supporting Argentina there would not have been any British ships on this side of the world because everyone knew who the real world power was at that time.
The USA, through Haig, wanted to give the impression they were supporting Britain while doing the exact reverse and camouflaging support for Argentina with the end result of the Falkland Islands being under Argentinian authority. Right down to the CIA giving Argentina details of where we were landing on the islands.
Thank you for your nice post. I was 20 and in the British Army then and can assure you that I have done more pleasant things in my life. Best wishes from Sicily!!
OMG, how much need another Mrs Thatcher now? Because of the weak leadership of major powers now, wars and conflicts pop up around the world! We miss you the Iron Lady more than you never know! RIP!
when you have Argentines bitching about Britain. I'm sorry you only lasted a month in a war with Britain who may I remind you had no help from NATO even though they offered it. The Falklands are British and are recognised by the UN as being British. Britain have the 4th most powerful military on the planet and the best trained troops on the planet. We don't even need to talk about nuclear weapons because we can destroy Argentinas armed forces with just our conventional forces. By 2020 the UK will have 2 Supercarriers in service able to project British power anywhere on the globe. Argentina have no hope of seizing the Falklands permanently because us British are too powerful for them.
pablo tacain resort to calling someone a Nazis because you can't back your statements up with facts. a better word to call me was an imperialist. it's not a matter of where the islands lie it's a matter of who lives on them. the citizens of the Falklands are British not Argentine and they have had a referendum under United Nations rules declaring their wish to remain a British overseas territory. with the election of Donald Trump relations with Russia will more than likely improve and currently British relations with China are very good. if only Argentina was still a colony. we've beat your Spanish masters countless times and we've beaten you with ease. Britain is a country is a country with a history of resilience and strength. Argentina is a country with a history of being beaten by Britain and a country that cries to the international community who quite frankly don't care because they'd rather have good relations with Britain than help you. Finally if South America was to be left in anyone's hands it would be Brazils but again Britain has no intention of leaving the Falklands so deal with it.
Hahaha what a load of codswallop! So you'd rather the British population of the Falkla- Wait I got an idea you want South Americans to control the Falklands, Lets make the islands go independent! Then the South Americans will control them! See how I can change the tide of your argument... Plus what does Argentina want it for other than the oil and uranium? Sounds like Imperialism if you look at it...
pablo tacain Britain don't want it for oil. The only reason we keep and defend the Falklands is because they chose in a referendum to remain an overseas territory of the UK. The moment they reject British rule is the moment Britain gives them up. I'm sorry if Argentine rule is so unattractive to them compared to British rule. The majority of nations side with the UK in this dispute so instead of being bitter about the fact Britain control the Falklands and we kicked your ass during the Falklands war, grow up and deal with it instead of singing the praises of a 4th rate power in Latin America thinking it comes close to the UK. News flash the UK is better. The Falkland Islanders know it and so does the rest of the world.

May God Bless the Iron Lady. She was a great friend to the USA and her friend, President Reagan.
Yeah that's true, but the islands do belong to Argentina.
SaltyBastionMain No they fucking don’t, they are GBs.
lol her "friend" President Reagan?
I was 20 and in the British Army then and can assure you that I have done more pleasant things in my life.

when you have Argentines bitching about Britain.
A company of Gurkhas will do the job
What are the other 2 platoons going to do?
pablo tacain resort to calling someone a Nazis because you can't back your statements up with facts. a better word to call me was an imperialist. it's not a matter of where the islands lie it's a matter of who lives on them. the citizens of the Falklands are British not Argentine and they have had a referendum under United Nations rules declaring their wish to remain a British overseas territory. with the election of Donald Trump relations with Russia will more than likely improve and currently British relations with China are very good. if only Argentina was still a colony. we've beat your Spanish masters countless times and we've beaten you with ease.
I`m an argie, I was 9 years old during the Falklands war. I was a child but I remember that was horrible! thank u so much for your post!

@Vee The only thing she WAS good for was this war.
@Vee But aren't we all striving now to make coal be a thing of the past by transitioning to green energies? In a way or the other, the dismantling of the coal industry is something that would have happened anyway.
@Vee she collapsed the industries because it was time to develop into tertiary industry and our exports were no longer doing as well so we decided to import from other countries to increase trade
@Vee the mining industry was dying and aren't we trying to make coal a thing of history? also just remember those prisoners thought smearing their excrement on walls was an decent thing to do.

For the many innocent dead in Ireland, India, Hong Kong, the African colonies, the USA, Kenya, China, Angola, France, Australia etc., who were brutally murdered by the British.
The sad thing is, that a brutal Argentinian military junta started this conflict to stay in power. A junta which has murdered many more Argentinian civilians than military personel was lost in combat with the UK.
Why most Argentinians saw the military aggression as some sort of patriotic enterprise is a riddle. Not only was it started by a brutal and illegitimate government, but Argentina's claim to the Falklands is no more reasonable than their claim to say, the Maldives would be.
It is true, that the Falklands being British is the result of colonialism. Yet this is utterly meaningless, as Argentina is also the result of colonialism. And so is each and every other country in South and North America.
Your summary comment is the third world against a colonial and ancient power

Why
@@Ewan-xw3er If I love Margaret Thatcher, it is for her fight and legacy against the farce of English socialism, for her principles of integrity, her defense of the rights of the individual, her eagerness to loosen the neck of taxpayers and, yes, her defense of sovereignty over the Falklands, land that was found uninhabited by the British crown in 1690 and today remains the richest and most prosperous place in Latin America.

So many arguments going on about sovereignty of the Falklands. The fact remains the Argentinians never set foot on the islands prior to 1982 but still believed it had a right to own them due to how close they were. If that were the case the world map would change massively.
