I've climbed the walls of Ahn'Qiraj back in WOTLK when there was not flying in Azeroth. I didn't climb them while in the instance, but I climbed the walls outside of AQ that lead to the temple of AQ using levitate and spending hours to find invisible edges on the walls. When I climbed the walls I managed to reach the zone which is now Uldum. And that was one of the weirdest and eeriest places I've discovered in WoW. I found some MASSIVE obelisks and these wide roads that lead to them. Lots of fossilized corpses of qiraji, some random pools and lakes and random structures and buildings. I also managed to enter the temple of AQ through that zone, which of course was empty, but it gave me that feeling of weirdness just walking around AQ while it is completely empty, it felt like being in a parallel universe or something
That's honestly amazing. I'm going to have to try this as soon as I get a chance. Thank you for the information! I may respond to this comment again when I get to that point.
@@GameUnCrafter After I watched the video I got the urge to go explore it again. I have a priest on a private WOTLK server and I've spent like 2 hours, but I keep failing. I don't know if I don't remember the route correctly, or back then it was pure luck. Anyway, here's a screenshot with the route as I remember it. It's on the way leading to the temple of AQ (the 40 man instance), you can't mistaken the spot. First you use levitate to "walk" on the wall and reach the corner where you then climb by jumping and pressing forward. The next stage is one again "walking" on the wall with levitate. You may think it's unnecessary and that you can just jump over the wall, but there's an invisible barrier preventing you from doing so. That's why you need to reach to spot with the missing block with the falling sand. Here's the screenshot: i.ibb.co/sqs8YTw/asd.png
@@RubyPiec no, I didn't manage to climb it. But I think I still keep the screenshots of my exploration on my old laptop. Might look them up and upload them somewhere if I don't forget/get lazy
Here is one deal, this is "Vanilla Silithus" but not "Vanilla Silithus", since the zone we know of now was built AFTER 1.8. Before that, it was desert of nothingness full of near elite enemies, and even the entrance to AQ was different and covered in sand, in fact, it looked better as "containment door"
(It won’t let me edit the original comment for some reason) I actually searched for alpha Silithus and people have run around there a bit on UA-cam, would that be close to the original playable version of Silithus?
Ive always enjoyed getting to places the devs didnt intend for you to get to, and AQ has always had this mystique that no other instance has ever matched. This video speaks to me on many levels.
Man your quality and the ability to keep you interested during the entire video are just off the charts. Sometimes(most of the time) you explore things I'm already aware of, but still find myself watching the entire duration of the video. As much as I love world of warcraft, I can't wait until you expand to other games. I'm just calling it now, I was here before you blew up.
Man this brought back memories... I was an original explorer in WoW vanilla, amazing times!!! Your series here made me think of Dopefish and the original Nogg-aholic community - Nogg-aholic the movie, Exploration the movie and the last wallwalk. You may clip our wings, but we will never forget what it was like to fly!!!
That's amazing! I do remember seeing dopefish's stuff wayyyyyy back in the day! I saw Exploration the Movie not too long ago. Can't remember if I saw it before. Glad you enjoyed the video!
i can give you a tip on whats going on everytime you see an effect, and it's an invisible npc, normally they have the texture of the most common earth elemental, but with another colors, i have a private server where i activated gm, and i can see all this npcs, i even see that the triggers for some cutscenes and progression are also npcs. its kinda weird playing like that, because the world is absurdly filled with theese npcs, some of them, even have for name, don't delete, just in case you're thinking on making a mess.
Oh, i forgot to mention that the effects are made by unique and custom abilities that the npcs have. in gm mode, you can see what kind of ability theyre using.
When an object stops having collision at some point, that part of the object is "no-clip". Clipping is the technical term for collision, as it kinda works by extrapolating movement and checking if in the next movement-beat you would be intersecting, or rather clipping, the object's collider. When there is no collider, there is also no clipping => no-clip. There are often hacks/trainers that come with a "no-clip" cheat, which basically disables the code that checks for collisions
You would’ve had to wrap around the entirety of Ungoro to reach the entrance to Uldum from Ahnqirag in the classic map layout, considering the AQ instanced zone is based on that map you weren’t anywhere close to Uldum at all
Some of the weird stuff in the mountains is probably left over from earlier versions. AQ wasn't originally going to be instances but an outdoor raid zone.
I wonder if the cave behind AQ40 with the sleeping dragon in it, or the small Tauren village could be reached that way too. I don't even remember if they were in Vanilla, or were added later, but that may be interesting to check out too!
i love exploring the out of bounds areas, perhaps look at the legion argus portals, i remember glitching out of those using heroic leap and there’s loads of crazy detail around the different portals
Me, a shaman, getting out of bounds with zero effort using Far Sight. Have you ever been to Dalaran... while inside of the Dragon Soul raid? But it is far less interesting than seeing a DH dashing around, physically being there.
There is a strange blue glow beneath the gong which sits on the roof abov the first boss. Also abov the aq40 portal there are 2 floating statues with yellow glows which only exist on this one wall. Different then the blue glow the yellow glow got its own soundeffect
@@GameUnCrafter No problem :) you cant really miss the blue glow. The yellow one only exists in the non instanced version. I wonder why they are placed right there as they are no where else

Next time, I explore this area with the space skybox!
Saying the floor lacks collision is probably the most straightforward way to explain falling through a part of it.
Yeah, probably. Couldn't think at the time haha.

I actually didn't know that! I never played original vanilla. Thank for the info!
Bro AQ was almost the FIRST EVER MAP created in WoW history. It was done before Westfall even.
Do you happen to know any way of seeing footage from the original Silithus, or maybe have some screenshots yourself? It would be awesome to see.

This is such a throwback. I remember exploring pretty much every raid and instance back in Legion when Demon Hunters were new.
Haha, I didn't get to until BfA. In Legion, I played so much of my main that my DH was pretty far behind even as a 2nd.

Agreed!

if a map is green that means isn't something for regular players, like when people explored gm island etc
Yeah, I've seen it green on occasion, but it's pretty rare. Unless I've just never noticed it, of course.
Cool video as always.
Bdw may i ask which addon or program is for that free camera mode?
Thanks.
I don't really use an add-on! I just zoomed all the way in when needed. In the future I do plan to use a cam, but that's pushing the mod ToS.
Will you explore that Vanila Uldum in classic? So we can see how Uldum looked like in Vanila?
Absolutely in the books! Sadly, I don't have a max level on classic just yet.

I know there was but I think it was removed again :( and thanks!!
Haha, gotta miss Door of Shadows. Makes any class an exploration class.
Yeah... lol
you nailed the lore on why there is different architecture!!!
That's what I thought!
