@@ToniReviews I just wish my local motorcycle clothing store had more in the Merlin range. They had a few 'Anson' and a few 'Shenstone' jackets, neither of which applealed to me. If you ever end up in this part of the world, you're welcome to visit and stay a while. Weather varies, so timing helps avoid the blazing heat or the rainy months. Scenery is limited, and it's a long way to come just to experience outrageous coffee prices. I live in a city of 2 million people, and motorcycle shops & products (and customer service) is average. Having said that, I count my blessings, so the good things outweigh the annoyances. Ride safe Toni! :)
I have had a Merlin Yoxall for 5-6 years, and it is absolutely class. Equals or outdoes the Belstaff Roadmaster I used to have back in the day, and a fraction of the ridiculous prices Belstaff charge now. I live in Japan, and we get some serious rain, both warm and freezing. This jacket has never failed to keep me bone dry in an hour's ride to work. Quality materials and manufacture. Been rewaxed 2 or 3 times and has a nice patina now. Excellent piece of kit.
Hi. Yes I totally agree they are fantastic jackets! I think armour upgrade sounds good. I think my back panel could definitely be more robust but the shoulders and arms seem ok. As I mostly wear a kriega rucksack with built in back protection I’ve not purchased separate back protection . Sounds like a good upgrade 👍
Really nice review format, actually wearing the jacket and commenting on its effectiveness in real world use. Clear and concise with no waffle yet still the genuine interest in the product comes through, 👍
Thank you @everydaybiker. I try to give as honest an opinion as I can. I sometimes have the tendency to waffle but that’s what’s good about editing. I cut half of the waffle out lol.😂 thank you for your kind words of support 👍
I have a Yoxall and have, in fact, been caught in several heavy downpours. I can vouch that it remained completely waterproof. It's a fantastic jacket all-around; the first adjective that comes to mind is "substantial". Lots of storage space, good looks, and the waxed cotton feels like it could stop a small-caliber bullet. The only downside that I can think of is that it's very, very heavy (I wear a size L). I never weighed it but when I take it off it feels heavier than my entire camping gear, including a couple of pots and pans. Ventilation could also be better but, hey, for the price, it's hard to do better.
THE GAMING SOLDIER that’s good to know. And yes I agree on weight. It would be good to compare the weight of the Merlin waxed jacket to something like the Barbour. I reckon they are all pretty heavy as they are in fact cotton covered in wax so no doubt heavier than some alternatives. You raise some good points.
I have owned a couple of Merlin jackets. The Elmhurst and the Shenstone. Quality to brief ratio is fantastic. I ended up selling them as both were XL. I’m a 42/43 chest and they were too big. Happy eBay buyers. Me not so.
Thanks for the review. It convinced me to try a Merlin Edale. I think the Edale might be a little heavy for what I am looking for. But my word does it ooze quality. It really is a Belstaff but at half the price. It's the sort of jacket you buy once and it keeps on giving for 10 or 20 years. Love the accent too (born south London, lived east London most of my youth).
tnetroP I wear my merlin most of the time, it is really a great jacket and as you say for half the price of the belstaff. (Nice to know u share the accent lol)
@@ToniReviews Me again. For various reasons I didn't keep the Edale last year but have just bought a Merlin Kurkbury. It's quite snug with the lining in and OK with the lining out. But if I size up then it may be too loose with the lining out. Did you find your jacket stretched or gave a little after a while, or did it stay exactly the same? This would help me decide whether to keep the smaller size. Thank you.

T wow, that’s great to hear! Especially in the riding conditions of heat then a downpour! @@ToniReviews just got it in. I sized down since I wanted a slim fit and in Texas the winters don't really require layers. Fits me at 5'10" 200lb about perfectly. Better when this quarantine belly shrinks a little. Can't wait to ride with it, but unfortunately I'm still waiting on my bike haha.
Thanks for the comment. Thatys interesting as my BUxton and all the zips on my jacket are double lined. Interesting to hear I wonder if anyone else has experienced this if they have the Elmhurst?
Hi nick. Yes I find it very warm. It has a liner inside which is removable. I wear mine year round. Overall it’s probably slightly cooler than my winter jacket, but with a jumper or thicker top it’s fine. And as a wax jacket the waterproof ness is great. Hi Toni, great reviews...aboout this Jacket...does the wax stink or feels oily on the surface ? do you suggest as 4 season Jacket ? What are the differences with Merlin Barton 2 or Merlin Perton if you knew. Tks
Hi. No the wax douesnt smell, it's odourless so thats nice. The wax penetrates the cotton, but you are left with a residue on the jacket, which if you sit on a couch or lean against a bike etc, some of the wax can transfer onto. In terms of the other merlin models, im not too sure as I havent tried those out, but if you look on the merlin website it should give you the sapecification. In terms of all year round a 4 season jacket. I have worn mine all year, however its ver very hot in the summer even with the liner removed. In the winter on very cold days you can feel the coldness of the waxed cotton slightly. Overall its a great jacket and is prob best suited to spring, autumn. for very cold and hot days you may want something different, although it is doable (as I have worn it in all seasons)

Nice looking jacket, I have seen the Merlin jackets online, they are stylish. It’s hot where I live so I don’t know if I could wear any of their heritage jackets. How is this without the liner? Hope it’s held up well since you uploaded this!
Hi. Yes the jacket is still holding up well. I wear it year round but I would say in the summer months on the really hot days even when I remove the liner it does get very hot with little airflow. It’s more a spring, autumn jacket, but I do wear it year round. And yep it’s holding up great, I just relax it every now and again to keep it waterproof.
Great review. looks like a great jacket I think you have convinced me! can I ask how you find the Shoei Ex-zero in colder weather ? thanks again for sharing
TeaPotWood the ex zero can be chilly in cold days but I wear a neck buff covering my nose and mouth. Heavy rain can be more of a problem as it hurts when it pelts your face. But I love it and wear it all year round, although I do try and avoid really cold or really wet days generally
@@ToniReviews Thanks for the reply. I now have the matt black ex-zero. It is just such a cool helmet. I would have loved an open face, but want to keep my jaw. So this was the next best option. with it basically being a Shoei J.O with chin protection. like you, `I plan on avoiding really cold and wet days. I shall get neck buff as the temp drops. I also just got the Merlin Edale.. amazing jacket that is now got AA rating! thanks again
TeaPotWood cool. Yes I gave the Matt black version too. It’s a great helmet. Love it. I was considering a s€come full face retro helmet like the glamsternor a hedon helmet, but I just love the open aspect and goggle combo too much
Its a great jacket, they seem very well made. I know what I put mine through and not a sight of a rip or a tear anywhere! Great jackets. The only thing is sizing is a little off i find (arms are a little short). I think peoiple can sometimes be brand blinded, wooed by the big names, but theres sometimes far better offer on the market in smaller companies. Id take a merlin over a belstaff all day, especially if im paying! Thanks for the comments, always helps people I think when trying to make up their mind
Minor update, bought myself a mesh jacket from Merlin earlier this summer and love it, takes me up to three now and all are great.. they use the same Halle Stevenson wax cotton as Belstaff too...
Kurt Kleimeyer hi kurt. These are the 100% Barstow goggles and in the Roland sands design. I’ve recently done a review on them on my channel. I’ll send the link. Hope it helps
The jacket feels like a suit of armor. The quality, top of the line. Stands out in a room as the alpha. They say clothes don't make the man, but this jacket sure give a man a powerful first impression.
hi . that is simplyn a cheap go ;pro chest mount from ebay. these types of mounts are freely available and cheap on amazon and ebay and far cheaper than the official gopro ones and do just as good a job.

I live in Australia and have a Merlin Hixon jacket - I can comfortably wear it all seasons except summer if that helps you at all 😊
Thank you, awesome review!
Thank you Aaron. Glad you found it helpful 👍
Very Good

Yeah Tony!
Glad you found it helpful
Great review Toni, what is your height, chest size etc to gauge sizing in the real world for the XS? Thanks
Howard Banks hi. I’m 35 inch chest. Hope this helps
How tall are ya? Just bought a Buxton size Small for my 5’6” 120 lbs wife. Thinking XS might be what we needed...
also just got the Merlin Edale.. amazing jacket that is now got AA rating!
thanks again
TeaPotWood cool. Yes I gave the Matt black version too. It’s a great helmet. Love it. I was considering a s€come full face retro helmet like the glamsternor a hedon helmet, but I just love the open aspect and goggle combo too much
Ciao! Hai un Link degli occhiali?
Hi. The jacket is Merlin. If you go to Merlin’s website you will see there current range of jackets . Www.Merlinbikegear.com
@@ToniReviews I prefer my jacket, i was just interested for the glasses
Good review! Thanks!
Сергей Мандрик glad you found it helpful. Thank you
This is a fantastic review. TY
Thank you Ramon, that’s very much appreciated.
I own two merlin jackets, great value for money compared to Belstaff .....
What helmet and goggles are you rocking in the picture?
hi. this is the Shoe ExZero (brilliant helmet) and the goggles are the 100% roland Sands Design

The jacket feels like a suit of armor.
The quality, top of the line. Stands out in a room as the alpha.
They say clothes don't make the man, but this jacket sure give a man a powerful first impression.

C R I know right! 😀it’s a great jacket and still going strong! Literally no sign of wear at all on it. Fab and at a real bargain price.
What's that chest buckle your wearing at the begging of video you toke off???
