Lyrically, the depth and darkness of her lyrics remind me of Steely Dan; musically, she ingeniously captures the most captivating elements of modern pop without being stale; vocally, she is one of the best young female singers making music right now. She reminds me a lot of Bonnie Rait, because of her powerful vocals and her deep, complex lyrics. Chappell, you’re really, really good at music.

The social and religious undertones and messages we are given throughout our loved from the environment can beat us down and break our hearts. Those messages are wrong. You and we are acceptable and lovable and not bound for hell. 2) having supportive family can save someone from totally folding and giving up on themselves altogether. Even if your family is part of the structure sending messages that it’s not ok to be who you are, their love can transcend their own previously held beliefs. Chappell fought her way through it all, but having her parents love and support, even when they might not agree with or understand her, that is a beautiful thing.

After reading some of the comments of annoyance to her unique style, all I have to say is to each their own. Where some find her annoying, I am the complete opposite and praise her for it. i saw her live, opening for declan mckenna, and was BLOWN AWAY. she covered dreams by the cranberries and honestly ive never heard a more accurate sound. such a voice on this girl
She can do lots of things to manipulate her voice to sound different, but the biggest thing and the key to her blowing up big here real soon is her having a great voice to manipulate. Some artist can manipulate their voice after the fact with autotune, she sounds amazing live as well. I think she’s gonna blow up this year, especially after she releases a new album.
