    Congrats on completing your first week of marathon training! By now you've probably finished your second week so congratulations on that on, as well. Hope all is going good and you're feeling strong. This is a huge commitment and it's very motivating getting to hear about it.
    That area you live in is beautiful, by the way. I hope it's not too cold out, there. Where I live it's currently below freezing (and icy/snowy), so it'll be the treadmill for me for the next few months. The amount of actual ice (not so much the snow) makes it pretty dangerous. At least for me, as I've taken a few spills in the past.
    Good luck with everything going forward, and I'm looking forward to further updates!

      It is a big commitment and sometimes I worry that I won't be able to do all the training sessions. This could end up being one of the hardest things I do, but I want to try my best.
      It looks okay where I live but in terms of running it's not a very nice area. Temperatures are getting low here for us too. Usually January and February are the coldest months for us, and in March we usually get snow. It's a good decision to not run outside when it's icy because it's very dangerous. I have had some slips too when it has been really cold and when I went out on a run in the snow as well.
      Thank you for your support 😊 Are you training for anything specific?

      Currently I'm just starting back up after not running for a while. I had a bad foot sprain late last summer, which took nearly 2 months to fully heal, and after that my life just got really busy and I (pretty much) used that as an excuse to not run. I really could have if I managed my time wisely, though. It's my own fault for not keeping myself motivated.
      Thankfully, I learned my lesson about not taking too long of breaks, as I lost a lot of my progress over the past 4 month. Not only that but my mental health was impacted more than expected from not running regularly. (Not sleeping as well, not having as much energy during the day, feeling more stressed, not thinking as sharply, and feeling more depressed than usual.)
      So, I'm building myself back up and I want to enter some races when the warm weather returns. Some 5K's and 10K's. Possibly a half marathon, which I'm trying to shoot for.

    • @YuennyLam
      @YuennyLam  6 місяців тому +1

      Hope your foot is now okay. That's the problem, injuries happen and can end up causing setbacks. When I first started running years ago I hurt my knee which never felt like it healed, so I stopped running for many years. I only picked it back up again over a year ago so I'm trying to be very careful now.
      5Ks and 10Ks are really good distances. I've really enjoyed running 10Ks and I still do. I think once I have experienced running a full marathon then I'll run shorter distances more regularly.
      Running and exercising helps so much with mental health. That's one of the reasons I started running again. It has also helped me sleep a bit better sometimes, so hopefully it will help you too. Keep it up 😊

      I know the feeling. Good luck with the training for yours! Which one are you running as your first?

      @@Jockuptown Nice and warm 😊 By the time it gets to April it usually has warmed up, but temperatures can be a bit crazy, from one day being freezing and then heat-wave-like weather the next during spring time. So I have no idea what it'll be like when I come to run the Marathon. Just hope it's not too hot. I really wanted to get a place to run the London Marathon but unlucky this time, so I'm running the one in Manchester which is also a really big event 😊
