Angel, Three comments: 1) Great video. 2) Why whisk before vacuuming? Just vacuum 3) I would recommend a soft bristle brush over a medium bristle, it is easier on the fabric Keep the videos coming.
I’m not angel, but whisking or brushing removes the bits that the vacuum has a harder time getting out such as stuck on lint, dirt and debris. Scrubbing also primes the convertible top for vacuuming by loosening up some of the dirt and dust particles, leading to a deeper clean. As for the bristle comment, as long as you’re not using a metal brush, a hard brush is fine and preferable over soft bristle brushes. Unless the car’s fabric is super old, falling apart and very delicate, using a hard brush is just fine and is better for deep cleaning. Signed, a mustang owner. 😊
This is about the 8th video I've watched in 2 days on this subject (because I have a horrid algae & mould roof) and this is the ONLY one using circular motions....I'm guessing that WITH THE Grain is better
Siobhan Hourican I do it all the time. It's actually not harmful. My car is a Chrysler Sebring Convertible with the fabric top and it doesn't leak if you use the car wash hose as seen in the video. The tops are treated to be water proof. I've had mine for two years and the coating is still water resistant. After the factory coating wears off, one can use convertible top water resistant treatment themselves to ensure it lasts. It may seem that it would leak, but I assure you, it doesn't.
I agree with Michelle, they are tough roofs, no problem with a pressure wash. By the way I live in England and all you need to do is power spray and use a stiff brush to remove the road grime. Don’t do circular motions as he does in the video, long motions side to side then up and down, no swirls this way. When clean and it’s 100% dry I would use Autoglym to proof the roof, it’s not cheap but Aston Martin use it so it’s good and you only need to do it twice a year
I am thinking of a canvas top for my car (Mazda miata 2006). 1) Any suggestions of precautions, a local mechanic is helping in the installation, not dealer. Do you think my rain drains need replacement (I've had no flooding in the cabin in a year or more)? 2) I do not have a covered garage and here in TX most parking is not covered. How often do you wash your top? What do you recommend for TX? 3) Do you apply the 303 on the canvas more often if you have more rainy weather?
Wow so if you don’t have area and it’s on the street park no garage what to do you can clean it wash it but to spray something and keep it away from dust and wind that’s impossible 😟
As reliable as most. Keep in mind the early ones are twenty years old. The IMS bearing is a concern, but definitely overblown. Find an early one with the 2.5 and you are pretty safe. Biggest problems other than that are water pump and coolant reservoir, which are inexpensive, if you are good at turning a wrench. Engine access is tricky but DIY is not a problem. Parts and how to videos are readily available online. Just get one, you will love it. Especially at 6 to 8 thousand dollars for a decent one.
the 303 protectant dissolved the stitching on my fabric top and warped the plastic trim around the stitching. i will never use that crap again. i will use raggtopp.
It's ok to take it through a automatic car wash as really the only high pressure is on the doors...but just make sure you dont get a wash with wax as wax will ruin the top
Actually....you never want to take ANY vehicle through the 3-minute paint torture chamber. Best not to wash it at a coin wash either. Them brushes are often times filthy and worn, and scratch your paint up. Remember the old saying - if its rough on your face, its rough on your cars paint. Its best to use some of your old cotton t-shirts and wash by hand. My family owns an auto detailing business. Convertible soft tops aren't recommended to go through carwashes, whether automotive or "high pressured". The excess weight and pressure can tear the top up.
@@AntonioLopez-bk7dq you can put a pinhole in a vinyl top very easy. they are 40 gauge thickness. The cloth are thicker which allows water driven by a pressure washer to get deeper. This is a problem as the water is not supposed to pass the outer layer. If you look at convertible top cleaner kits they do not go deep they stay on the surface. The top is supposed to be water proof so nothing should be driven below the surface or the cover will be compromised.
I've found that TIDE, ALL or other clothes washing type soap with just a little bleach mixed in works pretty durn good for a cloth convertible top. It IS cloth after all. Oxi-Clean works well too for those stubborn stains.
i would like to suggest a lint roller for the first step.

PERFECT AND THANK YOU! I used the lowest power gauge with my pressure washer.
Your hair makes you look like a movie extra from 1990
🤣🤣
Bruh
🤦🏿♂️brush 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a soft top noob this was helpful, thanks!
I know there are soft top covers. Would putting a soft top cover over the top when parked drastically reduce the need to clean it?
how do you keep the top clean from dust that accumulates overnight as it dries?
THANK YOU CAR ANGEL GREG....THE ENERGY IS REAL!!!
You're cute lol

@@kirisutegomen12 It's only a couple of times a year, so not to bad.
Can you use an extractor
What cleaner do you use
One question is, can I get rainx fluid onto my convertible soft top and get a waterproof effect over time, has anyone worked on it?
Use 303 fabric guard or Ragg top. Just be sure to keep it off your glass and paint.
how do you fit in that boxster?
top open I guess 🙂
Lol good question
Do you have a video on how I would clean the Inside?? Thannks

If you want to dry your roof, take it for a drive.
Driving it would probably get dust and debris before you get a chance to seal it.
why not just vacuum from the beginning
why not just sweep only...
I use the sticky paper rolls to lift anything off the fabric, then vacuum
Thank you car angel.
Can u use simple green cleaner? ( canvas top)

Alot of people clean there top but I noticed they never clean the compartment where the top goes when they open it
Just wish I was tall enough to do this 😂
Very clear and helpful, thanks for the info.
Are Boxters a reliable car?
lolololololol

It's not cheap to work on as you'll need a lift to do most maintence items
What is the water resistant spray you were using. 303 something.
303 UV protectant probably. Great stuff
303 Protectant IS great stuff. I use it on my plastic and vinal trim every month!
How often do you apply the sealant?
he said every 6 months in the video

Is it ok to put a convertible in an auto car wash?
+BelRiose2000 ...I would not drive it through a carwash. There are too many moving pieces and very little margin for error.Greg Macke - Your Car Angel

why would you ever use a pressure wash on a convertible top? that is insane.
Is it bad?
@@AntonioLopez-bk7dq driving water deep into a cloth top will lead to mold, on a vinyl top it'll likely end up making a hole.

Use DAZ detergent and a nail brush brilliant and cheap
