So for the sake of building, the builder group went and destroyed a build, whereas for the sake of griefing, the griefers built a structure...how about that.

just what I was thinking. this is honestly the most hilarious grief I've seen.
I think the reason why ocean monuments have 20 elders is because each update the monument "respawns" back to its original state repairing itself and respawning mobs. Since Monuments were added in 1.8 that means the monument has roughly respawned itself 5 times even though it was untouched for all those years
The server hasn't once been updated.

2b2t exists since December 2010 which is way before the 1.8 update, Ok Nice might actually be on to something.
1.8, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11, 1.12 which makes it about 15 Elder Guardians per Ocean Monument.
Where those ocean monument chunks loaded exactly during the 1.8 period or where they loaded afterwards? It doesnt really make sense for an nonexistent chunk to count all the updates that happened to this point.

It's a good idea, but I don't think that's the case. Mobs don't get respawned after update, not to mention that most temples would be generated much later than in the first version where Elder Guardians appeared. I don't know what's causing this, but as a programmer I would expect it to be something random and hard to guess without looking at the code with a debugger.
Honestly I hope the path just goes through the boat because it looks pretty cool it can be a nice milestone
This is actually an entertaining and far more memorable way of griefing than just outright destroying.
I wish more griefers would tag, obstruct or co-opt stuff instead of doing the same old just blowing it up.

I was expecting the Guardians to make it much more difficult to grief as the story progressed. But apparently it was too easy to dispatch them and remove obsidian like normal.

I kind of like the idea of the ship being there around the path, like a milestone

I'd love a full on class based on 2B2T lore with Fit as the teacher. So very entertaining
I love that even the biggest griefer team on the server doesn't attack journalists, and even gives you freedom to look around
There was a real life terrorist group who invited journalists out to watch them shoot a missile at a plane
As much as I'm not that big of a fan of griefs due to understanding the hard work going into some builds, I honestly like what the 5th column did to grief the canal. And the builders becoming temporary griefers in their mission to build the canal may drive them to destroy parts of the obstructive build, but they're doing what must be done to make their project come to life. By far one of the best sights to behold. Wish I could watch in person, but due to me being a nobody, they might think I'm trying to scout out plans to relay to the builders... And vice versa if I were to try taking a look at it from their position. But, at least I get to observe through you!
