This is why(especially as a catcher), i would always try to find gloves that were as broken in as possible. For whatever reason, Mizuno always had gloves available in stores that were essentially completely broken in, including at least 1 catcher mitt that could been used that same day. Decent prices too. I have no idea if the same is still true today(i graduated high school in 2003 for reference), but if youre a parent, especially of a catcher, i highly recommend checking them out.
That color scheme is 🔥 I've been noticing a lot of ppl breaking in the heel of the glove? I never once in 23yrs of playing worried about my heel I wanted it stiff, I always worked on just the pocket and index finger to break in, since that's where I wanted to catch it. I folded in all my fingers only ones growing up flared out the pinking and thumb were outfielders. Rest of us had our fingers folded in. My way of breaking in my glove was run water on it, my old hall of fame coach showed me that. Then go play catch for like 30 mins and then practice with it for 3hrs. Lol That's how we use to do it. It's cool seeing other ways to break em in now days
Dude, don't knock Mizuno. I almost always bought Mizunos when I played, because they were the only manufacturer that had gloves available that were more or less completely broken in(and mind you, I played catcher, and it's not exactly easy finding completely broken in catcher's mitts.) In fact, my freshman baseball coach played DII college ball, and one day at practice he'd forgotten his glove, so I let him borrow my infielder's glove, and he ended up using it every day after that. And it was just a maybe $125 dollar glove that my dad and I found at this indoor baseball training place that had a small store attatched to it.
I would add oil to the inside and place a baseball on the inside. Tie the glove shut with a rope. When you take the ball out the glove it had a nice curve to it.
one thing i always did growing up was putting oil all on the inside then putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds.. doing that 3 times a night for 3 nights it comes out beautiful
What I do (only if I have a mitt that’s still at least usable) is put a ball in the mitt and tie the mitt closed with rubber bands and put it under my bed then sleep on it for a couple days then break in the heel with either a bat or mallet
To me part of breaking in a glove is also getting used to it, id never put any oil or anything on my glove, and each year i got a new glove i would always play catch and use the new one as much as possible when playing catch, he'll i used to keep my glove and a ball in my backpack just to break in the glove in my free time.
Someone tell me why they flair the thumb out…. seems like if you fielded a ball off that thumb it would deflect off away from you…I always rounded my glove like a bowl so no matter where it hits on the glove when you close it’s going towards the pocket
That good little bro and I’m super proud of you and what you are doing in baseball, for baseball, for young men like yourself and for you. My question is what would you tell those little guys who don’t have access to the equipment that you’re using and who may have been gifted a glove that needs conditioning like yours? #muchrespect
Weird question Jax, but if you know, what’s the dimensions of your warehouse or shed or whatever all you stuff is in and what the dimensions of your batting cage aswell I’m looking to get a cage and all that in our ware house but it looks to be about the size of yours and if u don’t mind saying I’d like to know urs because yours looks like a great size.

mannnn, I wish the gloves looked this clean when I was a kid. I remember getting my first mizuno at like age 13 thinking I was for sure going pro 🤣
It’s comments like this that make me see how spoiled my generation is complaining about bad gloves when it’s really about skill
@@JuanAndOn1yy what the fuck did I say? I just said I wish gloves looked this cool when I was starting at 9 years old im 27 now buddy shit changes.

not everybody just has a couple of those machines laying around😭😭😭
Then just play catch with someone till it’s broken in that’s what I did
Yea, so use your mallet and catch for a good long day and it should be good, or if you have a machine for ur team ask to use it
My uncle always left a ball in it with a rubber band around it. Always worked for me.
