I bought a Wilson A1000 for my daughter and i used this video to help form her glove and break it in. Thank you for one of the better glove break in videos i have seen!!!
You can't go wrong with an A2000...if they are made the way they used to be. I have one that is 45 years old, and it is still in great shape. I love this glove. The gloves that I've had since then just aren't the same. Break them in right, do a little maintenance along the way, and they'll be with you for a long time.
Absolutely. I wish I was around when things were made to last, not just for companies to make a quick buck like today. The thing is with gloves nowadays is that they’re different so they need different maintenance methods. While it is possible to find immaculate pieces of hardware today, they are hard to come by and cost a pretty penny…
We recently just now received my son‘s new glove, and what a disappointment. Before I ordered his glove, I talked to a rep at Wilson. He assured me that the glove I was ordering would be made in America. What a crock of horse s#it. my son ripped off a tag and handed it to me, the tag read made in Vietnam.
Thanks for the info, just bought a custom a2000 for my son. We will for sure reference this video as we break it in! Thank you, and keep pushing content!
Love the colors on that glove! My a2000 took like 2 months of playing catch with a little malleting to get "practice ready" where I could take ground balls. I've seen some a2000s that break in pretty quick while others are just tanks.
Thanks for the video. Your comment about playing in the 90’s hit home with me! The flared out thumb and pinky seems so weird to me even though the logic makes sense. May have saved me a few E’s back in the day. When did this change? My kids are starting to play a little ball and am considering breaking their gloves in this more “modern” way.
The flaring outwards started in the 2010's. Most notably by Troy Tulowitski, and Nolan Arenado. The idea is to create a larger catching area. I understand the more "vintage" approach to creating a bowl shape, however I feel like you minimize the opening for balls with a little English on 'em.
Good vid. I've got an A2000 that I've been trying to break in but the hand strap is still pretty painful and when it closes, the thumb is closing in onto the index finger of the mitt. Do I just need to focus more on breaking in the hinge point like you show at 2:50? Unrelated, my son is looking at stepping up to a larger glove and he likes my Wilson. I'm considering just letting him have it and me getting another one and curious what your thoughts are on something like the Rawlings pro preferred vs a Nakona Alpha. I know 2 different price points but I'm a "buy once, cry once" kind of dude if I know I'm getting a better product that will last.
Depending on the “ pattern” (shape) of the glove it may not close pinky to ring finger. Some gloves close pinky to ring and some close thumb to pinky. Breaking in the hinges will help will help but at the end of the day the pattern of the glove will determine which finger it closes to. Lastly, having a web and “kill spot” pocket that can wrap around the ball will it’s no extra space for the ball to fall out is what is really important.
There is no glove that will ever be better than a Rawlings Pro Preferred. They are a bitch to break in, but they are the best gloves, hands down on be market. If you can’t afford that, so with Heart of The Hide. Both are better than anything Nakona or Wilson is ever going to put out.
@@MikeySkywalker Yeah. I went to our local store and couldn't feel a big difference between the pro preferred and HOTH. Ended up getting the HOTH and love it. Much softer.
Best thing I can say here is not to put your hand real deep in the glove. Have a bit of your upper palm sticking out of the wrist hole. Then when you have to close the glove squeeze lighter with your whole hand and feel like your fingers and thumb come together like your making a C shape with your hand. Each model is a bit different but I hope this helps, often times once that bubble is there, I’m not sure how to make it go away.
The a1000 leather is quite soft compared to the a2000 and other gloves. It's very easy to bubble up esp once broken in and used a lot. The palm area gets all loose and bubbly. The older a1000s were great though. Esp the 1st edition ones made in Japan! They had such good quality and leather
What’s up 914 I just got a new glove and I want to change my old gloves I web in to a 2 piece pitchers web is it possible to and if it is can you do it and will send it and pay for you to do it
You must have got a r2g glove or that color leather is cheaper because there tan a2000 took just as long to break in as my pro preferred and has stayed stiff for years
I've noticed the newer Wilson spin controls have really really thick leather. It could be you have one of those. If not, then maybe you're right, since I ordered my heart of the hide with a thinner heel pad for a better feel. However from my experience *most* a2000s are an easy break-in.
I was starting to get worried at the 5min mark as a UA-cam glove break in video without clown flares on the fingers is just unheard of. But luckily the 6th minute brought us back to internet reality.
I am still waiting for the mythical video evidence of a flare directing a ball back into the pocket but much like high quality sasquatch video Its hard to come by. Maybe that would be a good video idea? But just remember to shoot it from far away on the lowest resolution setting.😀@@914ballgloves8
@@SputnikRSS1 I want to try Marucci gloves more in-depth. Only felt their Small batch and those were pretty good. Definitely a video worth making when I get my hands on one
I’ve always been a Rawlings guy myself, but my son wanted a Wilson glove because of the different ways you can customize the gloves. We just now recently got his in and it is by far the worst baseball item mistake that I have ever purchased in my life. But let’s be honest Rawlings baseball gloves are 100 times better. I can’t believe I’ll let my son peer pressure me on this, well it’s his now and he is stuck with it. Until he grows out of it or it wears out, which one ever comes first. The only glove that I like from Wilson was their flamingo edition from last year.
The A2000 that MLB players get is made 100% better than the A2000 that you & I can order off of the site. As far as customizing, (giving you options on colors) Wilson is better than Rawlings. And let’s be honest the only thing travel ball players care about is the colors. The only way I will buy another A2000 is if I get the flamingo glove. It’s all the color way and not the quality.

great video again man.

Thanks boss 🤙🏽
Bro u should try to make your own glove
Just order one for my daughter for softball. Will this technique work the same?
Yup! Softball gloves work the same, I would just use a softball with the mallet combo instead of a baseball.
Good vid
In your opinion, is it possible to get rid of an air bubble once it forms?
Yes
Would you recommend JL or 44 gloves for middle infielder?
It depends on what you want. You should watch my different videos on JL and 44!
Are you breaking it in two in the pinky for middle infield?
Two in the pinky, but not specifically for MIF. I know some MIF that use traditional, some that use 2IP
What finger do a2000s naturally close to?
Depends on the model. I’d say 4th finger though
can you put the link in the description to buy that glove
It's from a physical store so it isn't available online :(

Go with the Rawlings
Nokona last a long time but are quite lacking in performance. Will get floppy very quickly and lose rigidity

Hey Elian, I have a question because 200s patterns are big should i get countor, does it effect the quality if so does narrow do also
I know you like i-webs so I’d say go for an 11.5 200. You’re growing so don’t get contour fit it’ll only make the glove too tight when you get older
ok thank you, great video @@914ballgloves8
