They have detergent sheets for laundry like dryer sheets that dissolve in the wash, you might want to check them out if you're interested. I know one brand is called Earth Breeze but there may be others too. Some great hacks/products you shared but I am obsessed with the bouncy living room lamp! lol
Not a blind person, but wanted to suggest products to use for simplification. I use blue land detergent tabs. It’s just compacted laundry powder without the plastic films. All their packaging are compostable. They also sell dish detergent tabs if you’re interested using the dish washer.
I had a teacher in middle school that would gently say, “If the lights hurt your eyes, please close your eyes” as a warning before turning on the overhead lighting. It was so nice to have the opportunity to close our eyes until they adjusted a bit more. I still use the phrase sometimes when turning on bright lights especially at night.
I’m all about the mood lighting. I have had several concussions and hate overhead lighting. I tell my boyfriend “big light bad” and he gives me a big light warning if he HAS to turn it on. “Big light in 3…2…1…” 😂
I get migraines and i seriously dont know why my mother would turn on my overhead light to get me out of bed, ive thought about taking the light bulbs out a couple of times. I don't even have all working light bulbs in the dining room because the light is already too big and would make that room too bright.
My school does like this disability fair sometime during the school year, where they basically make sure everyone knows the disability services options and like the programs we have. but one thing that they also do during this is show and highlight accessible board games like connect four that’s really tactile or Games that are good for people with low mobility or can help build up the finger dexterity and stuff like that. and I honestly love that my school does this because being someone who is disabled I’m glad my school does something to educate. And I’m a huge board game lover and I wish there were more board games that were more accessible to people in the disabled community
Not sure if any of these are appealing to you, but when I was a kid, I played Trouble, Mancala, Connect 4, and Dominoes with someone who was blind. For two-player Trouble, one person can just flip their pieces so they're more like cups (and then either use a die that works for you, or if you're playing with someone who can read the numbers of the die in the bubble, that works too). For Connect 4, you can put stickers on both sides of all the pieces of one color (we did the fuzzy animal stickers you could find in the 90s. I wonder if those still exist?). We also used to play Bop-It, Simon, and Cat's Cradle😅 I think my mom's backgammon set would have worked because the board itself was felt, but the points were leather, and the pieces had different textures on each side. If you have dice that work for you, Zilch dice would work, and maybe Yahtzee, too?
i'm obsessed with mancala, I also played chinese checkers (not sure if that's the best name xD) and imagine that's tactile enough that molly might be able to play.
They have a liquid level one that vibrates I have one because the squeak is far too loud and I used to get too startled by it then would drop my cup or knock it over I am such a tea girl too
I just want to make a point that as someone who often has pretty heavily soiled laundry (oil and grease from work), the Dropps do not work very well. For normal day to day or like gym clothes they seem to clean well, but I just wanted to point that out for anyone with a similar situation to mine so they don't waste their cash like I did.
I had my low vision assessment today, so I appreciate all the accessible home ideas in this video as a fellow blind gal! 🌸 Elton with his toy stealing the show 😂
I agree that even as a person with remaining vision, I want tactile buttons to stay in style because the mechanisms that make a touch screen work will eventually fail but a button will theoretically last as long as you care for your machine!
My sister and I are both visually impaired. We call things that are easier for us to see BFF, which stands for blind folk friendly. So, here are a few BFF hacks. For cooking I use a Tupperware micro pro grill. You can make almost anything in it, but I largely use it for pieces of meat. It cooks them like they were pan seared without the mess! It is not cheap, but my sister gave it to me for free when she was a Tupperware consultant. Also, the microwave I have is Alexa compatible so I can talk to it in order to cook things. It is so nice and I prefer that over using the bump dots. Finally, we have low vision playing cards that have large print on them and each suit is a different color so that they are easier to distinguish. this makes playing cards so much easier for us! I am not sure if that is an option for you or not, but the braille cards are handy too.
Mine isn't braille but there are tactile markers on certain buttons! I'm curious how it became universal for TV remotes and not for microwaves lol. I'm guessing because people might turn off their lights to watch a movie and the tactile markers help?
A non toxic version of tide pod is Earth Breeze they are eco friendly sheets of that and you tear of a sheet at a time or half a sheet. Love your Videos and content you have made me be more accepting of my RP journey. Thank you
For a laundry alternative I have used laundry detergent sheets! They look like dryer sheets but have a different texture, so the tactile difference could help you distinguish between a detergent sheet and dryer sheet. They dissolve in the water in the washer as the load washes and they’re a nice sustainable option because they use much less packaging! There are many brands, some even that are very natural and minimal. Love your videos and thanks for taking us on a tour of your space!
Hello Miss Burke, just minding my own business watching the opening of the Paralympics , and who did I see on there 😊❤ even though it was in black and white I loved the top you was wearing xxx 🎉
I enjoyed the sneak peak of your BF in the tv reflection. Lol . Great video, Molly! Your "camera man" did a great job too. Elton is destined to be a star! He's so damn cute 😊❤
I'm a t-1 diabetic with autism and intellectual disability I have made a mention to my OT (occupational therapist) recently since I switched to the insulin pump to make diabetic items like the insulin pump and glucose metres more accessible for those with low to no vision if they are diabetic like using audio for insulin pumps, cgms and glucose metres to increase independence and she thought it was a good idea 💡😎 thought to drop it here in comments. Also blindness can be a complication if you don't manage your diabetes well just to add here.
Hi Esther! I’ve had T1D for 57 years. I’ve thought about that too. Even if you take good care of yourself you can still develop Diabetic Retinopathy. I was recently diagnosed with that. I was pretty devastated about it. I’m sure laser surgery is in my future. Hopefully I’ll never lose my eyesight.
@@chrissyfoley7361 I have diabetes macular edema and retinopathy have had it about about two years and been having injections for treatment here in Australia too praying I don't loose my sight ither also I'm Celiac too so no gluten or wheat for me
This is actually awesome because I am currently making my place accessible 😁. Getting my couch tomorrow and I actually build my own vanity. Okay, I upgraded my ikea hack vanity lol. But it turned out so beautiful 🤩. I got the alex drawers in white, the big 9 one and next to that on the right I put the two alex small 5 ones. Above that I have gotten a warm dark brown wooden worktop from ikea and above that I placed the alex big drawers. Those ones that go above your desk. And all the drawers have plints or frama pieces on the front so you get that cottage feel drawers and I added gold long handled to every drawer. There are 21 drawers lol, so that was a big project making them all to size to fit the front of the drawers. And on those drawers on top of the worktop I put the hollywood mirror that has all the lights and they can change in settings and brightness as well. It turned out absolutely amazing! And I finally have enough space for all of my products 😂. Oh! And on the left side of the vanity I have a sink and cabinet with the same gold handles for washing my face and brushing the teeth and all. Tomorrow I can start organizing my makeup and then Im almost done with my bedroom. I also redid the furniture myself and painted them. And redid my office as well. It’s empowering to do all of that after everything. I never thought I would be able to do something like that, coming from being completely bed ridden to wheelchair user to now being able to use my body more. Still is rough! And I still need the wheelchair on bad days, but I am finding my groove slowly. I just wanted to share because I realized that we are capable of so much more than we might realize. Molly truly helped me find my way back to me again. To loving fashion and makeup and more importantly myself again. Even if it doesn’t look or feel like it did before. It needs adjusting, but with those adjustments we can manage so much! It’s incredibly empowering! And if anyone is still reading this, you can do whatever you want as well!
For you request of less toxic but accessible tide pod replacements, I have two! Both are from Grove Collaborative which specializes in eco friendly home care products. First option is another brand of laundry pods that are more environmentally friendly, but that option might be more expensive. Second option is their Laundry Detergent Dispenser. It's a refillable bottle that is set up to portion out the right amount of detergent when you turn it upside down with the lid locked. Then you can unlock it and pour into your washer without worrying about over-pouring soap. It's more affordable because you can pick the soap you use to fill the dispenser. Hope that helps!
I love dropps dishwasher pods but they also make laundry detergent pods. I love they brand because they list all ingredients and what their purpose is. Definitely an environmentally friendly low/ non toxix option
hey molly! for the condiments, i wonder if you could find like bands with label tags that you could label “ketchup” or “ranch” and then when the bottle runs out you can just move the band over to the new bottle? love the video as always! keep up the great work!!
Omg PLEASE beware of finger print scanner locks!!! Hopefully they've improved cause they used to be insanely bad. I would never ever trust one after what I've seen.
Sighted. We have water sensitivities, so we reverse osmosis our water, but we live in a house, and it's not fun always going to the kitchen to get water. We have a 1 gallon ceramic dispenser in our bedroom to put water in our CPAPS, our in our glasses for drinking or toothbrushing. Since becoming parents, we've added a mini fridge next to the dispenser so we can store milk bottles, full and empty, and used pump parts. I found a caddy that holds 8 bottles to bring up and downstairs. We have a countertop dishwasher to wash bottles, so they don't melt in a regular dishwasher.
Being AuDHD I am also light sensitive. I use mostly lamps, and I want to build some that I can use RGB lights, because those are much more sensory-safe for me, and I can wash my walls in color instead of painting and change the color every day if I want to. Obviously, you (Molly) can see white light better, so that is what is best for you.
For laundry we use laundry strips! You can get them at most stores in the “green” or “natural” isle and they are non toxic. I really like that they come in non scented and lavender as well as the typical “fresh and clean” scent. I’m pretty positive the brand we get is tru earth. You just add one strip for a load or 2 for really dirty/big loads. :)
Beautiful molly, I always love your videos. If there were more angels like you in the world, the world would be a warmer, safer, better place. Thank you molly for your beautiful warm personality you are awesome
I use laundry sheets, they work great for me. I saw someone else say they use a laundry tablets, like compressed powder detergent. I've never try those but i bet they would be a good option to try.
Ecoegg is a non-toxic, eco-friendly and allergy friendly alternative to laundry detergent. It's a reusable plastic egg filled with mineral pellets that work as laundry detergent. A pack of pellets lasts for about 70 washes and then you just pour a new pack of pellets into the egg. You never need to measure anything and it's very easy to use.
A couple of years ago, I bought a cloth washer and a drier (both LG) that are smart: they have an accessible app for smartphones that control all the functions, show the status and the washer setup automatically the drier. The washer can order automatically the pods from Amazon (if it’s paired with Alexa) when they are finishing
Hey Molly! I am a former occupational therapy student. I wrote my thesis on assistive tech at home, work, and in the community for visually impaired occupational therapists. Love this video! Didn't think of the Tide Pods idea. Love your tips!
What do you do to ensure your smart devices are safe from hackers? I don't know how often it actually happens but I've heard it's a major concern of smart homes
Molly, I love these videos! I bought a shower head you recommended, and now I am going to buy this door knob. Thank you so much for these videos, I love them!
the easiest washing trick Ive found is to use the ecoegg laundry egg. Not only is it sustainable. It is also incredible easy to use. You just throw in the egg with every wash instead of laundry detergent. Now and then you will have to refill the egg with little balls that are basically the laundry detergent. But this is only like 1-2 twice a year so very managable and you can always get someone else to do it, if it's tricky for you. I'm fully sighted and I even find it tricky to refill it 😂 but it's super easy and convenint the rest of the time. And it saves you a TON of money
I use a wide funnel to pour my liquid laundry detergent into some plastic bottles with pump tops that I bought off of Amazon. Then I labeled them with bump dots, or braille.
I use detergent sheets! They're non-toxic and come in scented and non-scented. So much better for the environment. They're essentially just dehydrated detergent that dissolve into water. So easy to use
I’ve been using the detergent sheets inside of type pods and they are wonderful as a vision, parrot and blind, and they are friendly for our community and Amazon Amazon sell them. I can’t remember the name but when it.
I've been waiting for this video. So many great suggestions. The smart plugs are genius. I also use a kasa smart app and powers trip for all my electronics phone tablets etc. I love it jeeps all my tech organized. Has an app option that let's you set when you turn it on or off. I also have a Samsung microwave for me with low vison it's amazing the buttons are so easy to read. I'm with you on tactile buttons it's a shame they are moving away from them. My oven is also a slide in range with button on the front. It makes things so much easier. Great video.
Another option for boardgames is stl files for 3d printing. There's a few available online and i know some forums if you ask there'd be people willing to design it. I know there's scrabble and hive amongst a few others. I think catan is also available, but that one is a very extensive print if i recall correctly.
I will comment on the numbered doorknobs. We got one for our house, which was built in the 50s. New doors, but the mechanism in the electrical doorknob wasn't strong enough to lock our doors. I said right when it wouldn't work, it was probably meant to use on apartment doors. So, definitely apartments, maybe not as much houses. Worth a try, though, cause you can always return it to amazon if it doesn't work lol.
I am about to graduate from college with my bachelor’s in Interior Design and this video is soo helpful! I love seeing new tips and tricks I could pull out for future clients! ❤️
Not a liquid pod, but Molly’s Suds 😉 is non toxic. I pour my powder into a food storage container. Tiny scoop so easy to feel if you have enough powder. Dump and ready to go.
For laundry detergent, we use seventh generation. It’s a good clean one. It is a liquid, but you don’t have to do any measuring. For a standard/regular size load of laundry one full squeeze of the bottle is the appropriate amount.
I've played a game called Hitster, where you scan a qr code and a song starts playing. Everyone has to identify the song and then place it in their timeline. It's not fully accessible because of the song titles and years but if you play with someone who reads them outloud, it would be fine because it's not that much information to read.
I love that fingerprint scanner on the doorknob. It's amazing the amount of accessible things they make now. I love how you organized the fridge! It looks so neat! Love the lazy susan for the fruit.
Hi! Just wanted to comment and say that in one of your other videos about this topic I actually picked up for my lifestyle! I’m sighted but without my glasses barely lol. I use my finger to feel the water level, I started paying attention to weather something has tactile buttons, using light to outline things, etc ❤ Thank you for sharing your knowledge and life with us on the internet
Not sure how assesible in detail, but I recently (not blind my self) got into accustic boardgames. We have one memory game, where each physical card has a qr code and the phone reads out the allocatet sound. This can be animal voices, city names, piano tunes, tounge twisters... As with normal memory you than have to remember the location of the card and find the pair. These newer kind of hybrid games might be fun to look into. The one I have is called "Klang2" from Germany.
Hey Molly! A great non-toxic alternative to tide pods are ironically called... Molly's Suds! It's what I'm currently using and I love them! They have laundry detergent pods with scents as well as unscented. I got them on Amazon
Molly, I use E-cloths to wash my sink and tub. They are easy to use and affordable. I use them with Force of Nature (a natural nontoxic cleaner). Also, have you heard Earth Breeze and several other brands make washer sheets. You just put them into the laundry wash. Maybe you could stick a night light on the wall where you keep bumming into it. Or something textured, bumpy, or carpet like on the wall. That way, when you go into the kitchen, you can feel for that on the wall. ❤
I use the Live For Tomorrow laundry soap! It is super concentrated, and i buy it at the eco/refill stores. It uses a pump top, so no measuring, 3, 4 or 5 pumps depending on how large of a load you are doing.
For the laundry you could maybe chose a ''regular'' detergent you like ( smell and ingredients ) and have someone pre mesure it for you ? Like having a bunch of little cup tupperware that are ready for you to go ? I feel like that is easy enough for a sighted person to do and could allow you to have more non-toxic options
Alternetive for washing maschine tabs. In Switzerland we have sustainable wash strips. One brand for example is washo. I guess there are a lot of other alternitives.
Not blind, but disabled and very allergic to tide pods. I love detergent sheets. I get ours on amazon, and they're lightly scented and clean my clothes very well. They're also super lightweight, which works best for me as someone who has coin laundry in the basement of my building
I use a detergent sheet called Tru Earth for washing (from Amazon). A company here in the UK sells a speaking air fryer but have said they’re developing a 2 drawer version so I’m waiting for that to become available. I have a talking combination oven by the same company (microwave, convection, and grill).
As someone who is addicted to The Last of Us (like seriously, I'm so obsessed that it's becoming a problem), I'm super excited to see you try it out and how the accessibility works!
I’m not blind, but was given a bag of 7th generation laundry pods and they worked well! Not mega stain fighting but completely effective for normal laundry. I believe they are biodegrable and more eco friendly than tide, but that might be green washing
That is so interesting! I am sighted but I have some conditions that hamper my orientation even in a tiny space, so you are giving me good ideas about labelling and organizing right now!
Molly, I am blind and do my own laundry. I use Beekman 1802 Happy Place laundry soap with goat milk. I get it on Hsn the shopping channel and it’s a powder and you only use one scoop and it’s so easy to use. You have to try it. It’s nontoxic and it has nothing that’s bad for you in it.
Have you ever heard of a penFreind, it comes with stickers and when you use the pen and touch it you can say what it is I use it on my clothes to know their colors.i also have an ibill that verbally tells me which bill I’m holding as us bills all feel the same
the beeping gave me a heart attack ... I was cooking while listening and literally thought that my fire alarm started. My dogs kept sleeping so I realised things are fine 😂
Board game recommendations: Braille scrabble Tactile ludo If you ever have the chance to play Dungeons and dragons it's a game where the dungeon master describes the whole story and it takes place in your imagination. It's the perfect game for a blind person

You have a beautiful home. I have arthritis so that ice tray is something I would like to get. Thanks for the tour.
She had a video about this topic. She use a completely separate email address only for alexa items. Great idea I thought.
@@laurynpawl6839good idea!
Molly, I love these videos! I bought a shower head you recommended, and now I am going to buy this door knob. Thank you so much for these videos, I love them!
I love Puracy laundry detergent in the pump bottle. Just one or two pumps and you're done! It gets rid of stains so well! 🎉 Y'all are doing great!
the easiest washing trick Ive found is to use the ecoegg laundry egg.
Love the video, very interesting! Just here to say tho, that I am HORRIFIED at the bananas in the fridge 😂
Nothing wrong with it
Mine go in the fridge. Fruit flies are beyond disgusting!
I can only eat cold bananas, don’t like the taste of room temperature bananas.
Lol, I thought the same, but maybe they're making bread soon and need those bananas brown😊
I love bananas ìn frig...ì wrap each one in foil...they taste great and last a l o n g time!!!
Laundry detergent sheets! they sell them at Target; perfect non-toxic tide pod alternative!
I use a wide funnel to pour my liquid laundry detergent into some plastic bottles with pump tops that I bought off of Amazon. Then I labeled them with bump dots, or braille.
Molly I absolutely love your hair that length and with the little flip at the ends!! Really suits you, you look so beautiful!
The ice cube tray is brilliant! I can't think of a state of being that wouldn't be improved by that honestly 😅
Hey Molly! Just saw you on the Olympic opening ceremony. It's great to recognise you
I love seeing accessibility features! Also, Molly, your hair looks fantastic!
Could you use the label maker to customise board games with braille to save money?
Detergent sheets for laundry! So many options, take up less space, qnd much lighter.
molly this hair suits you so well!! you look gorgeous and loved your dress!
Love your hair Molly!
And you look so happy in this video ❤️ Hope you feel just as happy inside! You deserve the best ❤️❤️
I use my finger to feel the water level, I started paying attention to weather something has tactile buttons, using light to outline things, etc ❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and life with us on the internet
molly im happy you are happy and i love how he makes you happy
Not sure how assesible in detail, but I recently (not blind my self) got into accustic boardgames. We have one memory game, where each physical card has a qr code and the phone reads out the allocatet sound. This can be animal voices, city names, piano tunes, tounge twisters... As with normal memory you than have to remember the location of the card and find the pair.
These newer kind of hybrid games might be fun to look into. The one I have is called "Klang2" from Germany.
Well done on your Paralympic spot. You looked great.
The rainbow knives are so cute and the ice cube thing is so satisfying!
Hiii another great option for washing clothes would be Earth Breeze Laundry Detergent Eco Sheets
Hey Molly! A great non-toxic alternative to tide pods are ironically called... Molly's Suds! It's what I'm currently using and I love them! They have laundry detergent pods with scents as well as unscented. I got them on Amazon
Amazing job Molly organizing cleaning so everything! So beautiful 🎃👻🍁🍁👻🍂🍃🍃🎃🎃🎃🎃🍂🍂🎃🍂🎃👻🍁🍁🍁🍁🎃🍂🍂🎃👻👻🍃🍃🎃🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁👻🍂🍃🍃🍂🎃
The lazy Susan might be good for all your tea flavors in the pantry
Molly, I use E-cloths to wash my sink and tub. They are easy to use and affordable. I use them with Force of Nature (a natural nontoxic cleaner).
Also, have you heard Earth Breeze and several other brands make washer sheets. You just put them into the laundry wash.
Maybe you could stick a night light on the wall where you keep bumming into it. Or something textured, bumpy, or carpet like on the wall. That way, when you go into the kitchen, you can feel for that on the wall. ❤
I love Molly’s Suds nontoxic laundry pods!
I use the Live For Tomorrow laundry soap! It is super concentrated, and i buy it at the eco/refill stores. It uses a pump top, so no measuring, 3, 4 or 5 pumps depending on how large of a load you are doing.
Blueland has laundry tablets unscented they come with a metal tin in a compostable package. Then you buy refill packages
Dropps are a great alternative to tide pods! They are super sustainable company and in my experience, they are just as effective as tide.
Not blind, but mildly dyslexic and I 100% agree: tactile buttons are where it's at!!
The Laundry Lady sheets for the washing machine! They are non toxic, micro plastic free, plant based. Smell AMAZING and work so well.
Blueland has tablets you pop two into the drum of the washer done.. the oxy is powder though so thatd be the hard partt
on a off note molly your hair looks so healthy and skin is stunning and clear
Alternetive for washing maschine tabs.
In Switzerland we have sustainable wash strips. One brand for example is washo. I guess there are a lot of other alternitives.
Not blind, but disabled and very allergic to tide pods. I love detergent sheets. I get ours on amazon, and they're lightly scented and clean my clothes very well. They're also super lightweight, which works best for me as someone who has coin laundry in the basement of my building
If you want to go the natural route a lot of people recommend using soap nuts as an alternative! You throw them in the wash like tide pods ❤
MOLLY'S SPEECH AT THE JOs !!
Holy cow, just saw you on the Paralympics Opening!! 😲
girlll he is a keeper marry him already look how much he cares for you and values you he is amazing !!!
I’m not blind, but was given a bag of 7th generation laundry pods and they worked well! Not mega stain fighting but completely effective for normal laundry. I believe they are biodegrable and more eco friendly than tide, but that might be green washing
Ecoegg is what i use, you can feel when the beads need refilling and lasts ages, just chuck it in with the laundry like the pods.
That is so interesting! I am sighted but I have some conditions that hamper my orientation even in a tiny space, so you are giving me good ideas about labelling and organizing right now!
You may be able to find a magnetic fluorescent light cover for the big light in the kitchen. Many teachers use them in their classrooms.
earth breeze is a great option for detergent! they're just sheets of paper (like dryer sheets)
Have you ever heard of a penFreind, it comes with stickers and when you use the pen and touch it you can say what it is I use it on my clothes to know their colors.i also have an ibill that verbally tells me which bill I’m holding as us bills all feel the same
Laundry recommendation: Earth Breeze laundry sheets They feel like dryer sheets. You can rip one in half if you are doing a small load.
the beeping gave me a heart attack ... I was cooking while listening and literally thought that my fire alarm started. My dogs kept sleeping so I realised things are fine 😂
Board game recommendations:
Braille scrabble
Tactile ludo
If you ever have the chance to play Dungeons and dragons it's a game where the dungeon master describes the whole story and it takes place in your imagination. It's the perfect game for a blind person
