I really feel like the story lines are evolving and maturing here... From the added element of suspense... To the truth about who's lying about the number of oranges... all the way to the bombshell discovery in the last scene where the man who bought the oranges is forced to question his own orange-counting skills to their core and re-evaluate his judgment of the store owner. The director has really outdone himself. Riveting stuff 👏

This is a masterpiece of dramatic storytelling. Suspense, horror, mystery, and existential dread in a classical three-act structure, compressed into 64 seconds.
0:07 "Have more than one!" A brilliant way of telling us that the Protagonist is a kind and generous man.
0:30 The turning point. The mystery is introduced.
0:51 "Where's my other orange?", he cries. "Did they cheat me at the store?" The Protagonist is at his lowest. Leading to...
0:56 "Look in the bag." The peak of dramatic tension. It brings to mind Brad Pitt's desperate question in the climax of Seven, "What's in the box?"
1:03 "Here it is. I have it." The happy ending. Makes me cry every time.
I rather not put it in the category of masterpiece but it is certainly up there. My reasoning for this disagreement is that the off stage, unknown and invisible second character is rather a plot device serving as a deus ex machina for the protagonist. Non the less a very well versed dramaturgical and theatrical play displayed here.
Also, are you sure you should be analysing this play, after all it's oranges not lemons so I'd rather have to say you might not quite be the Inspector qualified for the task at hand here Sir!

I remember reading the book that this was based on in school.
It's called "Math for grade 1" and I recommend it.
There is a bunch of sequels to it but I never read those.
The plot probably went downhill from there anyway.

The foreshadowing is intense. Miss one detail or turn your brains off for a moment, and soon you'll be totally lost and forced to backtrack.
I read the wiki though, so I managed to stay on top of the plot until it started branching around the 12th installment. The story really grew on me over time; it has some wild twists, and the experience is eye-opening to say the least. I highly recommend pushing through.
