How to Wear Heels for Beginners

- This video covers the very basics of how to begin walking in heels safely and comfortably. I recommend some easy exercises to do at home and small adjustments in the way you hold your body to get the hang of shifting your balance forward. Start with a short heel of 1-2" and consistently work your way up to 3-4" heels over a few weeks. When they hurt, take them off!
She is so feminine, elegant and pretty!
Bless you Kati!
She sure is all these things.
I love to hang out with girls like her.
So appreciate that you make it a point to emphasize comfort first! We all need to be reminded of that, ha. And that heels are not meant to be an all day thing and we need to be kind to our feet in working them up to the big heights while giving them relief even after. Thank you for the great tips so calmly and helpfully presented!
You’re so welcome Hal! Thank you for the lovely comment.
Love this! Makes me feel less intimidated to try on heels! :)
Yay!! Go for it! 💯
UA-cam recommended this video, I don't even wear heels, but I really enjoyed it for the tips on how to stretch the feet!
I just learned that I don't balance my weight properly in the three points you mentioned even wearing flats. I'll surely pay more attention to it now!
Thank you!
Wow!
This is the first really useful video about how to wear heels. Plus some extra background information. Thank you so much for that!
You have a beautiful voice.
Yes she does.
I'm flat footed so ironically these are some of the exercises that my podiatrist recommended 😁
My Dad and Aunt are flat footed too! At least you’re not a flat...earther. 😜😝
@@CrystalClues hahahaa 😂 luckily!!
Hey does it help??my sis has flat foot and wanna help her
.
Same my feet are flat footed too. Usually don't wear heels because feel uncomfortable.
Great video, thank you! Every other heels video says the same thing, but doesn't go into this kind of body mechanics detail, from a movement perspective. Thanks!
I appreciate it so much!!! You're so kind and sympathetic!! And thank you for pointing out the "on/off" looks!
love your voice, and the simple way you explain things, could listen to you forever!!
Super, Crystal! Informative and beautifully presented. Thank you!
This is the most useful video about heels I’ve ever seen 👏🏼👏🏼bravo 👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for the advice and your message at the end was really sweet❤️
Thank you very much Crystal, this is the second video of yours I've watched regarding how to wear and walkon high heels and though I have practice, the exercise tips you kindly share, are golden and will definitely be of help. Tank you so very much, for real 😄
OMG, thank you for all the info, I will put it in my mind and I will practice for it. For the first timer like me of using high heels, I feel pressured and suffering pain while using high heels and both of my knees are not straight and that is my problem, I will keep practice and apply what you said so that I can perfectly mastered it. Thank you po!
How do I pick the right size? A lot of times I pick my size but because I slide forward even though it’s my size my toes hit the front. I love your how to wear heels videos. Thank you!
In an open toe shoes, I usually go .5 size down for this reason. I want my heel to be sitting on the heel part. Also not all shoes are made equal. Some have a bigger toe opening and your feet will slide all the way out lol so have to find the right shoe but yeah size .5 down IMO
Backwards?! Down a steep hill?! IN HEELS?! Girl, you are goals and a half. I am SO envious!!
I literally broke my Tippy Tops right before watching this video- The heel detached lol 😂
Oh no!! Honestly the quality can be a bit so so 🙃
My mother learned me how to walk in high heels and thanks to her I can walk in these shoes without any troubles and actually many years I wasn't really feminime, I always liked to do a lot sport like football but also I love swords but high heels always were one of these feminime things I always loved and I always loved to paint my nails. These were always two feminime things I loved to do but now I opened myself for more feminime things, I do yoga and ballet. But anyway I feel good when my nails are painted in blue colour, they are so beautiful actually, I like them and walking in high heels I always found so badass and that's why I love high heels because they are badass, not because they are feminime. The sound of the heel is badass and what I can say, I love it so I'm gonna enjoy my walking in high heels and I'm gonna buy more of these shoes. They are awesome.
Again...incredible tips!! Thank yoy Crystal!!
I totally agree. I am use to wearing 10cm high heels at work but I change out of them into flats when I Ieave the office.
Right?! That's pretty awesome that you can do it the whole day for work. It means your muscles are used to it so you can go from flats to your heels and then back to your flats easily. It's a superpower ;)
You are absolutely inspiring, thank you for this amazing video 🤍✨
You’re so welcome Mey Loy!
I literally bought some 4 inch heels when I haven't worn any kind of heels in like 10 years lol. And they were never more than a couple inches high. These ones were so pretty though. But hopefully I can learn before my event in a month 😬... This was very helpful thank you!
Reply when you learnt.
You do pageants?
I just bought an espadrille that's why I started searching for ways on how to walk in heels comfortably 🤣. And these are really helpful, you seems knowledgeable about this that's why I'll follow your tips.
Thanks Mizuhara! Espadrilles are in style now.. and with summer coming up I’ve been eyeing a pair or two myself 👀
I don't wear heels, nor do I know how I made it here, but your voice is soothing, and I kept watching.
So relatable and articulate!
I absolutely love her dress and thank you so much for uploading this vid, I have been wanting to begin wearing high heels and this video helped a lot.
Thank you for the technical information.
Thank you for being so candid and wishing for a world with no scrutiny over how women "need" to appear!
Totally made me smile for my first attempt at wearing heels.

High heels were my love since I was a child and they still are. I'm gonna work in the place where you need high heels and I am so happy about it. I know how to walk right in them and when wearing ballet shoes is better idea. Ballet shoes, flats and high heels are my favorites shoes.
wow!! i really learnt a lot. Thanks Crystal
Wow thanks for this video i love walking in heels thanks alot😊😊
Oh my god you are so awesome you deserve 1m subs.. I have learnd a lot from your swimsuit walk video 😍😘 has totally changed my posture... ♥️ From India ... Will love to see your channel grow.

There are a lot of them out there in the market these days, and quite affordable too!
High heels are so beautiful and they make me feel feminime and good. I love it.
Glad you like them! Me too :D
Almost makes me want to try it.
Thanks I’ve only ever worn 1 inch heels and platforms but I have to wear 4 inch heels for a wedding so I’m sure this video will help
Great video! Thank you so much! I’m graduating from college and truly do not want to biff it in front of 1000’s of people
You have so beautiful voice and you really know the topic. I love it. Very good video. I love to walk in high heels. It really makes me feel elegant and feminime.
this was aa great video thank you crystal clues
Love your confidence
Thank you dear Kobugabe 😙
Am a bloke and I have worn High Heels pretty much since I was three and higher heels since I was sixteen, I have been ill and I haven't worn heels in three months. I love High Heels I don't want to lose them to potential medical issues. :(
Your health definitely comes first! Maybe start with working your way back to a low heel?
@@CrystalClues true, however, this is a balance issue and you/I could take legs into consideration too as there are contradictions in society some say it wrecks your knees and others say it improves your posture.?
Very good advices❤
Wearing heels is a full on exercise O _ o
Totally, and when you engage your core, your posture changes so it’s really not just about legs and feet 😅
Thank you. It was helpful

Jaye- The UA-cam algorithm is definitely a mystery to all of us! But I am very appreciative that you took the time to watch my video and leave this positive comment. It really put a smile on my face and I just wanted to say thank you for that! 🥰
thank you so so much. I bought the Mackin J in red and acrylic, although the 4 inch heel is a wedge I am absolutely afraid to walk and fall, since the highest heels I have ever used was 2 or less inchs , but here you gave real practical information. You are absolutely intelligent thanks
Glad I could help, BH!! :)
You are godsend sis❤
Good advice 👍
This is a really great video. Thou for real pros in walking in heels try doing so on ice. I have lived somewhere where the teens females know how to walk in heels on ice like it is an everyday kind of thing. It is hard to do and for first timers or if has been a while take it slow and don't speed walk.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! What’s the brand of your acrylic shoes? they’re beautiful
I appreciate your kind comment! The brand is Steve Madden
Yep I use wedge heels love them. Can't well wear thin/even thicker heel 😆. Nope I am comfortable I wear flip flops, dress sandal, sneakers and wedge heels closest see me wear 😆.
I find that the older I get, the more I prioritize comfort so I’m with you there :)
You are so real
Loved ur suggestions 😊
Thank you for your positive thoughts; the power of the internet to reach a Pakistani Mom in Saudi Arabia is just so phenomenal! Appreciate your comment!
High heels are beautiful. So good video 💙💙
Thanks Princess LS! Happy new year BTW!
@@CrystalClues Happy new year Crystal 💙
I love high heels so much but I can’t walk far in them lol
But like you said start with 1” then 2” and work your way up --so I think I am okay with 2” and 3” the most
That’s right, just start small. When you get used to it you can move up gradually. We are all at different points of our journey and heel training is no different than any other skill. Proud of you for your growth and progress 💪🏼
Great improvement
Thank you!
Anytime! Thanks for watching my video
I am a dancer as well. Nice. Dancing is powerful just like walking in high heels.
I walk on my toes so I imagine walking in heels would be easier for me based off of what you said. Me personally I really like heels, but I also really like comfort, so I squally just go with flats, but I’m thinking about purchasing some heels eventually. Short ones, I don’t think I’ll ever wear high four inch heels. But I do like heels, so it’s sort of like a compromise.
I'm here for it
Honestly your nature is beautiful
Sharna you are too kind 😭 you too, your profile picture is absolutely gorgeous!!
@@CrystalClues thank you my love ❤
Hello, Crystal! New subscriber here! Love your channel. Could you please do a few videos on posture?
Thank you so much for your suggestions! What kind of posture are you thinking about? Onstage posture?
@@CrystalClues , posture in general.
I love to walk in high heels. I feel so girly and powerful in them.
thank you
You're welcome
This is fascinating. I don't own heels, I want too
Thanks Kate! Give them a shot!
You should get short heels for a while it’s more beginner and then when your ready get high heels :)
Yes you right, I'm short hight girl and everyone recommend me to wear high heels but I don't feel comfortable so I love to wear flat shoes with comfort,☺️
I just switch from heels to flats as soon as I can 😂 it’s pretty common for some of my pageant girlfriends when we all get together to wear the heels for the photo and then take them off for the rest of the night and esp on the walk to our car/public transportation home.

Could you do a video in how to have balance and stability in your feet please :)
Thanks for all the advice! Can I ask how tall are you? You look so statuesque 😊
What type of tape do you use on the bottoms of your heels?
Wow this is good sad for me since I have feet like kid never fit only kid size but this look amazing
Walking in high heels is so easy. Two or three day of practice and you can walk in high heels. It's easy.

Omg I'm 26 and embarrassed as hell to go someone like hey teach me how to walk in heels so I just bought a pair for practice around the house then I tripped n my ankle did something I ddnt like lol...n my fiance got to get a nice greeting from me....it was so sexy lmao 🥴
🤣 Malkia I genuinely laughed out loud
Lol omg I only worn heels for prom and my wedding and so hard to walk. 😆
@@Kt-cn2rq u need to wear heels more to get use to them
Thank you for this!! I wanna wear heels and i wore like a 4 inch one i think? Its really high and boy without any practice?? The balls of my feet were ACHING
Im planning on buying boots instead, so it fits more comfortably on my feet
But sometimes, theres no plus size boots for women and i hate it!! They dont have larger sizes like 11.5 inches/44-45 in EU sizes like bruh!! I wanna feel pretty
And you are right!! Heels are painful and its important to give your feet a break if it does end up hurting
During the day i wore my heels i didnt pack any shoes, so i walked barefoot in my stockings XDD it was hurting!! And it felt really weird to walk after being in heels for so long
I literally just needed to know the first few seconds of the video because my cool autisticness already knows how to walk on the balls of my feet
Hi, can men also wear high heels? Thanks.
Hun, where did u get those transparent heels from?
Whenever I have an ankle strap on my heels it plays up with the back of my ankle, I don’t mean blisters, I mean my actual tendon. Even with flat sandals, if it has a wrap around strap or something it does the same thing. Can anyone tell me why please?
Does tht tape slippery?
I love your cute voice. My mom bought me high heels when I was 14 years old. She said that she wanted me to feel like a woman. I understood what he meant. Back then I already was really interested in women's things. She taught me how to walk in high heels and now I have no problem with high heels. They are beautiful. I love these shoes👠👠👠
Hi Roxy! Your mom sounds so supportive. We should all be so lucky to have strong and encouraging women in our lives 😘
@@CrystalClues Because she is. She is the best. Many parents these days are like my father, they don't care about their children but my mother is different, she is wonderful, she always took care of me. I could also talk to her about women's things, she taught me how to take care of my hair, nails and body. She is very close to me.
@@CrystalClues And I wish every girl could have wonderful mother like I have.
@@princessroxysilverdreams5597 so whats the highit of u heels now and do u wear them all the time
Thank you for this video! I’d like to ask, I’ve heard that if you wear heels a lot, you end up with the hallux valgus on the feet. But your feet are beautiful and I guess you wear the heels quite a lot? Myself I have it unfortunately and I’m preparing for my first pageant and a bit concerned if it will get worse from using the heels...
Hi Luba,
The research out there is mixed. Some podiatrist will swear by heels being a real contributor to foot problems for their patients, while I have seen a lot of supermodels and women wear heels their whole lives and still have good looking feet. I think genetics has a lot to do with it… And on my left foot I actually have a bunion. All the women on my mom’s side have the exact same bunion on our left foot all the way back from my great grandmother… Apples don’t fall far from the tree I guess 😅
Luckily it’s not very painful and depending on the style of the shoe, I can hide it or it won’t look as pronounced.
For you, as long as you are wearing heels to practice and for the pageant, I really don’t think you’ll be doing any long-term damage. But if your feet start to hurt and parts of your joints get sore, go easy and take them off… Give your feet frequent breaks.
PS I can confidently say that I’ve never had anybody say my feet are beautiful 😭😭 so thank you for that
@@CrystalClues hi Crystal, thank you very much for the answer! I was surprised as I haven’t noticed your bunion 😀 thank you for sharing! Now I’m choosing the shoes for the pageant rehearsals and in the open shoes it looks like everyone can see that the feet are “not ok” because of the bunion... Would you have any suggestions for the shoes choice for “bunion feet”? Thanks again, your videos are so useful and inspiring!!
@@pianolina85 hi Luba! I would personally recommend some thing that goes over the bunion (if it’s not painful for you) across your foot. Sort of like the open-toed sandal that I was wearing with the clear strap that goes over the knuckle.
But the truth is, unless it’s suuuuper severe, as a judge I really don’t think I would notice a bunion because of all of the other things I’d be looking at. I’d be too busy taking in your beautiful hair, face, accessories, outfit, etc. the list goes on. Frankly, even if I do notice a bunion, it would really only be because I have one too 😂 and it’s not often a big deal. The fact that you didn’t notice mine is an example of that 😉
@@soybeanette thank you very much, Crystal! This is very helpful 🙏🌹
Hey girl, do not worry too much about all the naysayers who preach that heels are so bad. I have an older friend from Canada who are in her 60’s and worked all her life in corporate and wore heels every weekday of her life, 4” mostly and she has no foot or back problems. She is retired now, but still wear 4” heels when she goes out and still like them!
I fell in love with heels a long time ago and although I cant wear as high heels as when I was in my 20’s, I still love them and wear heels to work every day. As I got older I started wearing lower heels and found 3-4” to be more appropriate for me and 3” are very comfy yet still sexy and what I mostly wear to work every day. I even had a back operation after an accident years ago and are still all good in my heels.
There is a lot of difference between women, and some are just at home in heels and some never will be, so if you are somewhere between, you can always improve with practice just like many other things in life. Pain is usually the indicator that something is not right and obviously not fun or good to continue being in pain wearing something. However walking some miles barefoot will also hurt, so it ain’t always the heels, but the behavior.
Buy shoes that are proper fitting and made of leather and from a decent brand and you are already halfway there. A sales clerk who assisted me when i bought a new laptop could not believe I am not in pain wearing 4” heels all day and told me how she wish she could wear them but gave up after going to prom some years ago in 5” strappy sandals and how her feet was so sore after a while. When I asked her if she wore them before she said never, and I explained its like riding a bicycle, you do not just get on and ride!
So when I look at my group of friends they are all over the spectrum and those who hate heels and never wear them also cannot do so without pain and mostly think that those of us who do wear them a lot are lying when we say it does not hurt. However it is totally possible if you wear heels regularly and make sensible heel and shoe choices. So just go out and do your thing, nothing to worry about!
Isn’t the weight naturally on the front of foot in 👠? That’s why they hurt from heels right?
0:48 well.... here i ammmm
