I don't care how, why, or what part of the foot we discuss next? But can we PLEASE have this specialist back in again?! She was so pleasant & informative!
Slow down, take smaller steps, break in new heels around the house before the day you intend to wear them outside. And of course, heel-toe, heel-toe. But *the* most important thing to remember: take smaller steps. I say this as a 39 year old Londoner who wears heels to work every day, my mother from London always wore heels to the office every day and her mother who was a hair dresser working in London wearing heels to work every day. Same advice I've given to my daughter wearing heels to events starting 13.
I find it becomes less painful overtime. I think the pain is always there, but it is something your body gets used to. If you get good quality shoes, they are usually less painful because the insole has padding and is usually leather. If you want to wear stilettos, having a platform also helps with pain.
@@TheUrbanEpicure Just because she has a Mohammed in her name doesn't mean she's a practicing Muslim. I knew sisters with Muslim parents in school, one was practicing and covered her hair and dressed the part. One wasn't a practicing Muslim and dressed like other girls at school. Their parents were Pakistani and when I met them, they respected their daughters had a choice. They were a lovely family.
This video was honestly SO informative, but I do understand the comments about those with flat, wide, or very narrow feet. Can we get a part two with this lady? She was excellent!
YES I have the flattest feet ever. my foot makes complete contact with the floor but I love how a heel makes me look and feel. It would have been really helpful if they talked a little more in-depth on helping those of us with a flat foot problem.
Totally! She's self assured but puts everyone at ease right away talking about and touching things that a lot of people feel gross or embarrassed about. Love her!
A posture specialist came to my old job once and she told me that so many women have hip and knee problems because we squeeze our knees together when we sit. She said sitting with them spread apart, feet flat on the floor is more comfortable, and honestly, kind of powerful. You're taking up more space!
Wow, I'm glad that the UA-cam algorithm showed me this. I wish more people would watch this video. The tip about having a shoe repair shop adding "invisible support" is a genius thing and something I never even thought was possible.
queenwyntir I wonder how much that costs. Like if it would be worth it for most shoes or if you should reserve that for a higher quality more expensive shoeS? Especially right now with fast fashion, you can get super cheap shoes.
@@catherinewashere1 a valid point. I myself would save it for shoes I cared a lot about or wanted to keep for longer. Deffo would not be putting extra effort into like....H&M shoes. It also probably isn't /that/ affordable :/
@@queenwyntir I had mine done for under about 25 cad? I did it a couple years ago with a cheap shoe from H&M. It's pretty easy with cheap shoes because they are just clued on versus stitched. any shoes with removable linings (ie pumps etc...) you can stick it under which works the same as well.

And if you can, ALWAYS buy a 1/2 size bigger to be able to put gel cushions on the front. As for high heels, NEVER EVER believe a sales assistant that tells you they'll stretch if they're too tight. I always thought my problem was that I had wide feet but now I realize I have a high arch as well. This was so informative and helped me learn things to help support my feet
Not really, no. Only if store-bought shoes don't really fit your feet. Just like with clothes: some can get away with off the rack clothes that fit them perfectly, and some need to alter them.
I'm an a cup too, but ever since I started wearing a brallete, I feel funny without one. Also I like a little padding so I look a bit fuller in clothes

I feel the pain of this. I’m petite but have flat and wide feet. Sometimes I literally cannot even fit my feet into the shoes. Just goes halfway. I hate it so much.
This was possibly the best UA-cam video I have seen! Thank you for the practical and helpful advice! In the past I have only been to male podiatrists and they have said women should avoid wearing heels. Since we are obviously not going to do that, it’s great to have professional input on how to address the challenges we face trying to look nice!
I recommend looking up toe and arch strengthening videos for ballerinas up hun! Just found out I have flat feet and I’ve been a dancer for a decade. Make sure you’re stretching them, strengthening them, and have arch insoles!
I've got a high arch & a condition I can't remember the name of that makes walking in any shoes for an extended period of time extremely painful. I still wear heels though, I love them 😭
For your ankles, you can try "writing" the letters of the alphabet in the air with your big toe once or twice a day. Its beneficial for the whole foot/ankle.
Charlotte girl I feel my arches are sooo damm high my dance teacher used to call them “ballet feet” and any shoes are uncomfortable after a few hours i have to get custom insoles so I’m comfy at work

There is also something else I noticed with high heel shoes: the sole of the shoe should not be 45 degrees from ball of the foot to the heel.
