I love reading these comments…yes this was a sick performance, and reading about this “vocal chord” issue…(I know she had issues in the mid 90s for sure with her doctors saying she had nodules after the Bodyguard tour) but two things come to mind: 1) Whitney came from church. Her two new songs “Testimony” and “He Can Use Me”, her technique was way more raw in her early years and she belted and growled way more than when her career started. I think she found her voice after her record deal in the style of her true singing. This was light work, this performance. She used her head voice and still powered through. And it was amazing. 2) Even though she was super sick here, later that next year she recorded the biggest song of her career and her voice bounced back. She really left a beautiful catalogue and even with its hardships her voice defied the odds.
