Evil Ryu first appeared in Street Fighter Alpha 2. also known as Dark Ryu.

I think evil ryu in street fighter 4 only is,actually just akuma/gouki as a young man,during the early stages of his life trying to control the satsi no hado,before becoming the akuma we known of in the main canon

Strange how Evil Ryu didn't get a unique ending on defeating Akuma. Especially in his ending, he said he's going to search for Akuma for a worthy battle to death, weird.
