we have a pizza delivery man who was abducted and still made the shipment on time, and now there's the pony express in space, just waiting for Daniel Boone to come in looking for elbow room.
I can just see one of these stories where someone is talking about a class of human worrier. A group so quick to aggression that their name is used to mean a sudden onset of murderous rage. So unstoppable, that the planet its self could lash out at them, and they would continue undaunted. And so sadistic, that they are said to do it all with a smile. A group, that despite all of this is still considered civilian. The human postal system.
For the algorithm... Would love it if the author would make this into a series... Maybe even get it animated... Have you thought of getting some animators involved? I know it would be expensive, but you've got something special here Agro...

The "Going Postal" stategem. Send a birthday present to literally any child under the age of 8 that is in or near a war zone under siege. Watch as the postal service reduces the enemy to powder in order to deliver it. Using whatever is the equivalent of shotguns. :-)
Spatial Delivery by Gordon R Dickson (collected in The Right to Arm Bears). A human has to track down a dangerous alien on a primitive planet of, essentially, bear/sasquatches. He has the local mailman deliver him;).
@@seldonwright4345 It did have a sequel called Spacepaw but I think it may have been collected under a different name. If memory serves I read the version where they had two shorter books (novellas) collected in a single paperback. It was a short lived trend where they printed the one book upside down so you had two covers and could read through the first book then flip the book around to read the second book from it's side.
I just found out there is an underwater hotel and a pizza place capitalized on it by making pizza deliveries in scuba Gear to the occupants of the hotel reminded me of this A lot lol
What a lovely story!🤗 And with plenty of humor without being ridiculously silly.😊 I was able to easily relate to all of the characters. I can also picture a human mail carrier in a space bar telling aliens about the Pony Express. Besides being a true story, the Pony Express was an exciting bit of history, so it would make a great bar story. Using that as the ship's logo fits perfectly, as does the idea of them having postal delivery contracts with other space based alien governments. Much communication can be delivered without a vehicle, but packages and bulkier cargo would still need a ship.🛸🚀 I rarely see mail carrying used in sci-fi stories, but there have been a few such stories. Thanks for the story and the laughs.😄 I really enjoyed it.🤗
do also note that delivery like this still has a higher data throughput compared to just sending the data (though far higher latency) so it could also be useful for sending large amounts of research data. especially if this universe has only very low bandwith FTL comms (and FTL ships)
LMAo very cool story, I could Imagine a game were you using star ships and vehicles to deliver post all across the galaxy. Good old Pony Express never stops and brings goods to those who ordered it.
Terrans always find something, we're carrying their packages their inventory their messages. All the important trade secrets, maybe the military ones as well.

Space delivery for space stations would be nice.
well Daniel Boone was almost a Centry before the Pony Express, by the way where is the giant snail, for the Snail Mail..?
The Post Master General approves of this Video.
No he doesn't. He's been actively dismantling the US Postal Service.
@@citizen_grub4171 yeah, No scents of tradition that one.

Kevin Costner would approve of this comment.
I would listen/read that. Just start with a few pages, and it will expand as you go.
i love Ack's writing.
he has this very particular style of world building that can only be adored.
Ack has got to be one of my favorite writers in recent years. Just about every story is a hell of a read.

@@silverjohn6037 Damn... I'd forgotten all about those "flip-books"...!
Don't question the delivery of much needed supplies.
Send messages home, and thank yous where appropriate.
Honestly that sounds like a great job
No doubt. Strange new places to visit. Making new routes..
@@beingsneaky You mean the young alien finds out his/her/it/other gentic supply was from the mail-being? lol
You know I briefly pictured postman Pat on the mural before the horse was mentioned.
lol
I would watch a 10 season series of this.
