- When emotions are riding high in another person we tend to give them a practical solution by telling them what they should or should not do. However, this creates even more conflict and a higher emotional charge. Offering them our unconditional presence and simply being there is enough.

Well said. Yes, the rational mind cannot solve the emotional issue. But it would be helpful for people to understand that yawning, laughing, crying and shaking are the natural discharge mechanisms for emotional distress. If a person is given aware attention with this understanding, without offering advice, this discharge will begin to happen and afterwards the person will be able to think more clearly and rationally.
