Hello from Australia - Very enjoyable listening to good military band music, great to hear Hearts of Oak, but missed the National Anthem. Thank you all the same
Exceptional performance. Question for any bands man out there, why are there two different styles of trousers worn by the bandsman, a thick red line and a thinner one?
The Corps of Drums wear a thin stripe because they were historically part of the infantry whereas the bands were separate and employed as musicians first and foremost.
You listen to the music and watch the precision marching not complain about the size of the very experienced musicians in the worlds best military band
The only songs i know from this video: The drum solo (sort of) at the start is British grenadiers, followed by 'HMS Belfast' by D page, first featured in MFM 2023-0:59, followed by National asset, also first featured in MFM 2023-4:20. Not sure about the next song
@@ginkiat7268 Intro from 13:11 leads into "May it Be" by Enya. The first gaelic phrase sung, Mornië utúlië., means "Darkness has come" and the second gaelic phrase sung, Mornië alantië, means "Darkness has fallen" in the chorus. I'd love to know who was singing it here - lovely performance. 17:23 is the Jupiter movement from Holst's "The Planets" and then around 20:00 into "I Vow to Thee My Country" which uses a variation of "Jupiter's Movement", with the words written in a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice. 25:30 is "A Life on the Ocean Wave"
Sarie Marais was the National Anthem of South Africa years ago. It was adopted by the Royal Marines as the March Past of the Royal Marines Commandos (which all Royal Marines are anyway) in deference to the Boers who were the original Commandos during the Boer War fought against the British between 1899 and1902.
Really? Such a comment in this day and age? I joined up in 1953 and there were plenty of women in the armed forces, all doing a superb job, as they do today. Nothing silly about them.
@michaelriordan8265. Most of the troopers in the Kings Own Troop Royal Artillery are ladies. Both the Lifeguards and Blues & Royals have Lady troopers. Most male troopers consult the Ladies if they have a problem with horses. Please do some research before making sweeping statements. Even if it's your personal thoughts.
No one does it better than the Brits! Exceptional performance. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧

Thank you from the US. I look forward to seeing this each year.
Amazing...✌️
Love this stuff
"Simply the best"
A stately fitting end. The soft quiet light and the Royal Marines filmed against the old Admiralty building.
And all are soldiers first

@@heatherharvey3129 Ah I see! Never heard of them before, but I'll check it out. Thanks for the help!!
Tha National Anthem would have been perfect. Why was it cut out😢
How extraordinary is the Slow March when the musicians play to a quicker time. Remarkable are'nt they.
England military bands are the best.
Why is it that women and guys under 5 foot 4 are allowed???? The sizing is horrible. Put all the shrimps together on the front line.
Why were they playing the South African anthem all the time,?

It's not the National Anthem, it's a folk song. The historical significance has been stated above.
The worst thing ever was allowing women to join the royal Marines, they look so silly
But they do their Jobs so well, and that's the most important thing of being a Royal Marine

@@5714sqd well you, a trail blazer for the ladies who came after you. Respect.

How can you even tell? The uniform does its job.
