H.I. #100 Coming soon this summer.* *Summer starts on June 1. I meant that summer starts on the first day of June, because it is the first day of summer on a calendar. That's the summer i'm talking about, not the astronomical or meteorological ones. This was just a simple comment. What happened?
I am currently playing Assassin's Creed: Black Flag while listening to the podcast. As Grey was doing the Audible commercial for the book about the ships that sank in the Caribbean, I had gotten to the point in the game where the main character is in the middle of a hurricane escaping a treasure fleet that is being smashed apart. Quite good timing!
I think that the "social network" aspect puts in this disconnect of "oh, these kids are poking fun at their own situation" when in reality, these kids (they already flooded the police station with 911 calls) are aware that "This is a very immediate and surprisingly far-reaching method of communication." They are recording information, no doubts could be made that this happened, they are either consciously or unconsciously giving friends and family live updates on their location relative to the shooter and their safety status.
I think the Snapchat instinct is more a sense of those 27th hour type of documentation where the kids are like "Well, I'm gonna die. Better at least get the evidence on camera." Which is disturbing to think that this situation is so common that an actual shooting scenario is greeted with that sentiment in children.
One possibility is that a dirty yellow tennis ball can be more closely perceived as green. And many people that can't afford to buy new tennis balls every time they play will see the dirty color more often and start associating the tennis balls with that color, which seems pretty green.
I was once about 40km away from the epicenter of a 4.2 earthquake and it was amazing! I was on the first floor and the house was shaking (not too much, it wasn't even close to be scary. It felt like a truck, or lorry for our friends from the UK, driving through the house) and it was also surprisingly loud, you could hear noises from all over the city.
Hey Dogfather, get blue toys. Dogs can see blue, especially in contrast to grass. Also, having clips of puppers throughout this podcast is phenomenal. [Side note: who would've thought that a doggo could break the robot's cool calculating exterior, could cause the AI to evolve and depart from Efficiency and Efficacy Above All. Or perhaps I'm giving the dog too much credit, and Grey and Brady have been drifting closer to center all along. Either way, I love it :]
Fluorescent yellow was pretty popular in the 90ties, which made learning the colours as a kid pretty confusing. I still can't figure out if this shade is supposed to be yellow or green.
About the yellow vs green tennis ball thing, I think it has to do with the color association, the fact that the yellow is very light and is against a far stronger green color of either grass or cement usually on TV which will cause your eyes to associate the two making it look green even though it is yellow.
As someone how has played alot of tennis I would like to point out the brand new balls are a bright florescent yellow. However, when the balls get dirty and the color distorted by the sun, they tend to become a light green color. So I would say that new tennis balls are yellow whilest old tennis balls appear much more green.
I've technically felt an earthquake. August 2012 Virginia had a minor earthquake whose effects were felt along the eastern sea board. Long story short randomly tripped and busted my face was later told I was just outside during an earthquake.
About the Amazon, the more people you have, the more parallel projects you can afford to have. Every IT company wants to have as many engineers as they can afford so they can keep churning out new stuff while still maintaining the old stuff running. Also in software projects with the scale Amazon needs to have, even maintenance work requires a large amount of manpower to keep everything up to date, optimized to not waste resources, robust so it doesn't break and with new features, so you can stay ahead of the curve and not be overtaken by competition.
I wish they had a bit at the end where it just said "The end" or an outro sound. I listen to this and sometimes worry that my spotty internet just died out again.
My phone is a Samsung something-or-other from 2007. The other day I found one of maybe a dozen or two photos I took with it. It was dated April 11, 2007... and is all of 1280 X 960 pixels. Brady, I'm waiting for my interview.
Amazon has the need for a lot of developers, considering they own the following: - Audible - Kindle - Prime Video - Photo hosting services - Grocery Store; Whole Foods and the new fancy cashierless store. - Twitch - Music - who knows what else And each company/service needs pc, android, and apple integration through apps and websites.
Could you link to www.hellointernet.fm/podcast/98 in the blurb? I get notified about releases here on UA-cam, but play it from the website as I'm often on mobile and can then turn off the screen, follow links, &c.
Ok but the videos those kids took have been really important against those calling them crisis actors. Snapping or otherwise recording something is on social media, fundamentally a cry for attention, and when you're terrified of being shot at, you probably want as much attention as possible just as a cry for help, and they'd already exhausted calling 911 for attention as they'd overloaded the lines. To me it seems pretty brave and logical to record in that situation and I'm not sure it's something I'd be able to do
Tennis balls are yellow. If you use them on blue courts then they turn greenish, and if you use them on red courts, they turn orange. A lot of people probably don't see tennis balls when they are brand new though, especially if they are thinking of tennis balls as dog toys.
just barely watching the first part, but don't earthquakes happen on fault lines too? I lie on a major fault line in my state, and I'm always told we are due for a HUGE earthquake, so weird.
You should get him a blue ball Also tennis balls are green. If I were to mix the tennis ball colour in paint I'd take yellow and I'd have to add blue in order to get the right colour. Maybe my country sells different colour balls but they are green. How could you call it yellow???
There are green tennis balls (i.e., they are more green than yellow), and I typically see the green-ish ones, but it might be a regional thing. Like, I don't think I get tennis balls the pros use, for example. Google imaging the subject I'm seeing a lot of yellower tennis balls than I'm use to. Some are just straight yellow. Others are more yellow than green but would probably be called a shade of green by most people because that's how our brains work when it comes to green. Also the older the tennis ball the greener they seem to get. Really though, I think the topic is just a semantic one. In terms of color spectrum tennis balls (especially new ones) would lean more toward yellow and as such should be called yellow. But color names don't often roll that way. This reminds me of a dumb argument I had with my mom about a pair of pants. It was a really dark blue, and I called it black. She said it wasn't black. I said that I know it isn't straight black, but most people would just consider it black and call it a day. It's not that people are incapable of more accurately describing color, we just usually don't feel the need to.
wow grey you really underestimate Pittsburgh. I live there and I can tell you that with the tax benefits they are offering to throw at Amazon they are going ham trying to get this.
Big companies being in the eastern United States isn't really anything new. The federal government is in the east therefore it's easier to influence politics, so if Amazon has any plans to become more of an interest group it's pretty convenient to be within driving distance of DC.
i swear tennis balls were always green, but after hearing this i looked up some pictures and realized that they're actually really yellow. My mind is blown,
It does seem kind of crazy to record an attack against you while it is happening but on the other hand, the forensic part of me (please note, I am not a forensic investigator or expert in any way) must concede that recording and live broadcasting ANY information about the attack and the perpetrator(s) can only be a good thing, aiding the investigation that will happen later on.
I've spent almost all of my life in California. Hearing them talk about earthquakes shaking birdcages is almost pitiful. Also they keep acting like it's fun and exciting, this is strange because we are all taught that in the near future (no one knows when) there will be an earthquake that could kill all of us and our infrastructure.
I have also spent all of my life in California. While it is true that the big one is coming, I do find them fun and exciting. In fact, I find them so fascinating that I studied them in college. This might be because I've never been a serious earthquake. The biggest I've experienced made stuff fall off a table but, didn't cause any structural damage.
I haven't played tennis for about two to three years, but I think newly opened tennis balls are quite yellow, but old tennis balls are actually green? But for all I know tennis balls are clear and I'm just delusional.
MISTER CHOMPERS!
The pure joy in Grey's voice... oh my heart
I know, I can hardly even

I’m excited! I wonder what they have planned.
guygarcia01 either a podcast on mighty black stump or cross America road trip
Cypher Caliban
My money's on April. Wanna start a betting pool?
Summer 2020
I love how Brady says "Mr. Chompers" and INSTANTLY Grey's voice changes! "MR. CHOMPERS!!! :D :D :D"

Fakjbf listening to the podcast when in late game, plundering every ship in sight is awesome.

Tennis balls are a green-tinted Neon yellow, and as they get older the neon yellow becomes less pronounced so they look more and more green.
I think that the "social network" aspect puts in this disconnect of "oh, these kids are poking fun at their own situation" when in reality, these kids (they already flooded the police station with 911 calls) are aware that "This is a very immediate and surprisingly far-reaching method of communication."
They are recording information, no doubts could be made that this happened, they are either consciously or unconsciously giving friends and family live updates on their location relative to the shooter and their safety status.
The students were instructed to stop calling 911. Most of them were getting the word out about the situation. 911 was getting flooded with calls.
My brain is saying yellow but my heart is saying green.
I feel like Picard being tortured by the Cardassian . . .
"The Tennis ball is . . . GREEEEEEENNNN!!!!"
Never thought I'd hear two of my favourite people call out my home city #Swansea
Represent!
Passed thought while at the gower. Swansea is lovely. :D
.. a few chavs in the city centre, but that just adds to the charm. .. kind of. :p
For the tennis balls, I think part of the confusion is new balls are yellow, but as they get dirty they get darker
Camicus - If that was the case, people wouldn’t be able to debate over the same picture or physical ball
That overwhelming feeling of joy when you see a new HI podcast UA-cam push notification. Best notification ever!
This is the perfect day for a podcast. I'm sick and all I've been doing all day is laying down. Thanks.

It's the best.

I could listen to these two talk about dogs all day.
Its up on youtube before being up on the website?

I rated this five stars, still don't know what this show talks about.
Haha
I usually look at whatever Brady has put up as the video for a minute then go to another browser, but how do I not continue watching these dogs?
Mr. Chompers visits the podcast again at the very end! Loved hearing Greys overly exited voice when seeing him and Mr.Chompers chomping om the mic.

Am I supposed to be seeing this episode so early, or Gray's e-mail bot mailed me prematurely?
the bots escaped the slaughter house and it's a scheme... run for your life
@@BunnyMaz WE MUST GET AWAY
Puppies!
my phone is from 2013... i'm waiting for your interview brady, don't keep me waiting
Haha
The dog footage is very much appreciated
Video cuteness factor was off the scale.
I like how the top Google result for tennis ball is an article for The Atlantic talking about the bloodbath Grey's tweet started.
The Atlantic wrote an article on tennis balls and cited grey's twitter poll :D It actually goes pretty in depth about human color perception.
I've technically felt an earthquake.
August 2012 Virginia had a minor earthquake whose effects were felt along the eastern sea board.
Long story short randomly tripped and busted my face was later told I was just outside during an earthquake.
You do get Intraplate Earthquakes, but they are fairly minor and rare compared to those on actual tectonic plate boundaries.

Flaggy flag will rise again flappy-flapping in the windy wind. Hooray hooray!
The balls are a strange fluorescent greeny-yellow.
chartreuse.
Guys, there is a wikipedia article about your podcast in Romanian!
Even token options win sometimes. I think it would be awesome if Amazon's HQ went to Canada.
Holy cow, two more episodes until we get to Episode 100

I want to do something while listening to this but I can’t look away from the dogs!
This must have been the episode I watched the most.
I'm a Tim, and I endorse this podcast!
Wow this is up so early. Its not on the hello internet website yet! or my google app lol.
when there was a minute break in the audio at the end i knew it was a mr chompers bit
As we all know, Swansea is basically on top of the San Andreas fault. There are huge tectonic events almost hourly there.
I don't know grey I think they will pick Boston because, it will expand the supply area and command area
Best day of the week
Tennis balls are yellow. If you use them on blue courts then they turn greenish, and if you use them on red courts, they turn orange.
A lot of people probably don't see tennis balls when they are brand new though, especially if they are thinking of tennis balls as dog toys.
Amazon is probably leaning towards the east coast because time zones there make it easier to communicate with the rest of the world during the 9-5
Puppies are cute to watch.
I like the pupper footages!!
is this the cutest episode?
how I'm suppose to focus on my work with this b-roll??
Brady, what is the difference between a pre-warning and a plain ole warning?
YESS NEW PODCAST
I listen to HI while playing Euro Truck Simolator 2
Earthquakes are boring. The ground feels weird and your monitors shake around and then it's back to normal - Current WWDC host town resident.
Every tennis ball I've ever seen has been a fluorescent high-visibility yellow-green color. I've never seen one that was true yellow.
just barely watching the first part, but don't earthquakes happen on fault lines too? I lie on a major fault line in my state, and I'm always told we are due for a HUGE earthquake, so weird.
The link to the Reddit discussion is broken
Before he gave options, my immediate answer for tennis ball color was, "yellow-green, like Halloween glowsticks."
10:10 HOW am I supposed to listen to anything with this going on
I have absolutely no idea my friend
You should get him a blue ball
