God you are such a good teacher!! 😳
I am still just learning as a secret hobby, after young royals, and a few Swedish friends here in NZ, but if I ever have a reason to study more seriously, I'd definitely take your course. As a dyslexic learner this would really work for my type of brain, and it's rare to see good educational resources that adapt to this way of learning which actually benefits everybody! So nice to see that inclusive learning environment 👏🙏✨

Tangentially related: here's a Swedish tabletop RPG called Mörk Borg that's got a little bit of a cult following both in Sweden and abroad, and I heard there were a lot of English speakers who were thrown off by the correct pronunciation for borg being "boree". The game designers have said pronouncing it "borg" is perfectly fine and not a big deal if you don't speak Swedish, but ye, little amusing

My maiden name is Berg and I pronounce it that way, not the Swedish sounding 'Berry'....which I prefer btw...but as a Canadian I find it difficult to do. Love the video! Tack sä mycket!

Hi! Why is it a hard G sound at the end with Görgen?

Great question! There are always some exceptions (like borrowed words and names from other countries).

Hey daniella! I have a question that is very unrelated to this video actually but I just can’t figure it out😅. So I was practicing on duolingo and there was this sentence: ‘Jag tycker om de gula fåglarna’ which means I like the yellow birds, but I don’t understand why it is fåglarNA because that means THE birds right? So why is is fåglarna instead of fåglar? Wouldn’t that translate to ‘I like the yellow THE birds’?? I just don’t get it!!😭😭same with for example ‘Han har de svarta byxorNA på sig.

Hej there! Great question and good observation.
In Swedish we do "dubble definitive" in some situations like those you mentioned. In other words when we say phrases like "the yellow birds" we NEED to say "de gula fåglarNA" and not "de gula fåglar" (this phrase is gramatically incorrect in Swedish). If you translate it to English directly it sounds weird. I know. "The yellow THE birds" but not for us. It is just how the Swedish language is constructed and in order to become good in Swedish you just need to think and accept that thinks doesn't work as in English sometimes.
Here are some more examples of this.
      Den gula bilen.
      Det gula huset.
      De gula bilarna.
      De gula husen.
This happens often when we talk about something specific "the car" together with an adjective (like the colour "yellow").

Odjur is in my opinion a funny word, it means beast etc but basically that word is "not an animal". I wonder what is the etymology behind that word, is it that animals "djur" were domesticated and "odjur" hunted them?
