I rebuilt or helped rebuild at least 18 SBC engines before 20 years old. Every time I set the distributor it was 180 out. I did that once on a Piper Navaho(Lycoming TSIO540) too. Other makes I have worked on never had that problem. Many other engines of all types, aircraft, motorcycles, cars, and even a few Chrysler products. Whatever they call those.
Ya it's definitely something to be aware of for sure. I know it's a common problem. Thanks for sharing your experience and for watching 👍
Dig the car! Looks like we’ve got similar methods. Anything to make life easier.
Thanks I appreciate it 👍 exactly
Thanks Bro! That motor looks nice.
Thank you I appreciate it 👍
One reason I liked older MOPAR only two ways to pt in a distributor dead on or 180 off. Chevy alway could be off a tooth or two.. great video
Ya I know what you mean lol. And ya as long as you line up the distributor to the cap point and use that point as number 1 you either get it right or 180 out lol. If that makes sense.
@@TonyTheTechnician the MOPAR ones ar flat blade tip and gear is in the block. Always had issues with ones with gears being a tooth off. Today we don’t even have distributor all done by sensors and coils and computers. My farther somehow broke the shaft between the distributor and oil pump what a mess that made. Those old Chevy motor were great engines because parts were reasonable.
Oh damn that's crazy. And ya it's amazing how far things have came.
Nice car Tony 👍🏻🍻
Thank you 👍👍👍
Good video
Thank you
Your channel has helped me a lot with my 3rd gen needs... very well done 👏
Do you have a recommendation for a new distributor for an 83 305 crossfire injection engine?
Pull it and throw a 355 in it lol Jk
When you took it out what did you to to line it up
I took the old distributor out along time ago before the rebuild. To put the new one in after the engine rebuild I just set it to TDC of the compression stroke on cylinder 1 and dropped it in facing the number 1 cylinder
I don't see any fogger nozzles or solenoids.... 🤔
Haha I guess that means I did a good job making it incognito then lol. Nah that will all be done later after I figure out how much I like the fitech and how everything performs. I want to make sure everything is good before any nitrous or supercharger. Plus I still have alot more upgrades that need done before that. The focus is to just get it going before next year when the snow clears
@@TonyTheTechnician. She is coming along and looking good! I need to shoot a video. Me and my oldest daughter just built a predator 212 stroker (big big boy stroker) I'm waiting on a couple of parts to finish up the supercharger on it. Should be a fun little minibike when its done, I have enough money in it we probably could have built a top fuel drag bike 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@carbonconnection2480 haha damn nice. That's awesome. Thank you
Dude you need to talk less. 1 minute video took it darn neer 15 minutes!!!
Nah I'm good. But good thing they have a fast forward.
