Matpat : “lies you told me like pluto is a planet” me : don’t remind me that I have been in a state of denial for the past 14 years edit : please stop fighting in the comment section over a joke
Don't forget that Pluto is *Still* a planet, sort of. It has planet in its name, but was given the name dwarf planet because its orbit intersects that of Neptunes which breaks one of three rules to define a planet. It sucks because Pluto is such a cool body in our solar system despite being similar to a dozen other ones. Thankfully the requirements for someplace to be a planet is still being debated today and could see change. Maybe if everyone born 14+ years ago created a movement it could change.
On the topic of that cursive line, I hate that my 3rd grade teacher told me that if I couldn't write print I couldn't write cursive. I've got horribly illegible handwriting. I can't write cursive But hot dang do I take pride in my typing speed.
I don't know about the coke part I really doubt so because A I don't know how something with that much sugar can be good for you and B it makes it easier to throw up so it doesn't make sense for why it would be good for your stomach.
Not sure specifically what the science is, but the ginger root in ginger ale is known to have some soothing properties to the stomach and sinuses. I’d say your answer really lies there. At a local grocery store, they had a variant of Canada Dry ginger ale called “bold.” My family, heavy ginger ale drinkers, tried it. As the name suggests, it has more ginger in it. Enough to make my nose kinda sting and clear my sinuses a little. Kinda like the ginger you eat with sushi. Many airlines serve ginger ale on flights to help queasy fliers. I’d say it has something to do with the carbonation as well. Sometimes you just need a good burp or two, y’know? However, I would not be surprised if there’s some placebo effect regarding the magical healing properties of ginger ale. It’s got a reputation of over-the-counter medicine almost.
Most ginger ale has very little actual ginger in them, but ginger does in fact help with stomach issues, idk where you got the coke one though, never heard that one and it doesn't even make sense. My suggestion is ginger beer instead, especially ginger beer that has ginger chunks in it

@@thaias9654I am honestly so confused about this entire video. I never had “food coma”, I do sometimes feel too full to move but it's only for about 5 minutes
As a type one diabetic, I feel quite honored that you understand how much food affects us. Sometimes after eating my glucose will spike up above 200-250 (because insulin takes 15-30 minutes to take effect) and then when insulin kicks in I get so drowsy. But once my glucose levels stabilize I’m alert again. My mom calls me a zombie when it’s too high or low because of how drowsy I get.

The reason school is boring to you and this is interesting is because this is all just flashy processed info while school is only giving you the materials you need in order to understand how to think and solve problems.
I have found that on Thanksgiving, if I space out the trips for refills of food, I tend to a) eat less and b) don't feel drowsy. It allows satiation to occur and I tend to eat less. Plus it gives the added bonus of being social with the family without my mother trying to get me to eat more immediately.

edit : please stop fighting in the comment section over a joke
If Pluto wants to identify as a planet, who are we to gatekeep them?
Don't forget that Pluto is *Still* a planet, sort of. It has planet in its name, but was given the name dwarf planet because its orbit intersects that of Neptunes which breaks one of three rules to define a planet. It sucks because Pluto is such a cool body in our solar system despite being similar to a dozen other ones. Thankfully the requirements for someplace to be a planet is still being debated today and could see change. Maybe if everyone born 14+ years ago created a movement it could change.
#plutogang we will force them to include Pluto in our solar system
If a dwarf star is still a star, and a dwarf person is still a person, why would being a dwarf planet mean Pluto ISN’T a planet? That’s just stupid.

Hey Mattpatt does Ginger Ale and Coke O’ Cola really help with stomach problems/nausea because this question has been eating at me for a while!!
I don't know about the coke part I really doubt so because A I don't know how something with that much sugar can be good for you and B it makes it easier to throw up so it doesn't make sense for why it would be good for your stomach.
Ginger ale made me throw up more 🤢
Not sure specifically what the science is, but the ginger root in ginger ale is known to have some soothing properties to the stomach and sinuses.

Food theory
Wrong channel
As a type one diabetic, I feel quite honored that you understand how much food affects us. Sometimes after eating my glucose will spike up above 200-250 (because insulin takes 15-30 minutes to take effect) and then when insulin kicks in I get so drowsy. But once my glucose levels stabilize I’m alert again. My mom calls me a zombie when it’s too high or low because of how drowsy I get.
I’ve been scouring the comments for a fellow T1D, glad to see someone who also appreciates that end bit.
I'm type 1 as well and I was looking for others in the comments
I know like 5 people who have type 1.
I'm type 2 and It happened at work that I slept for 20 minutes straight because my bloodsugar was too low
Okay one of these days Matpat is going to have tell Steph that she's being cheated on with a can of soda.
That explains why I feel sleepy when I’m starving and can’t sleep when I ate too much.

@@axia9294 Look I'm not here to scold you on life I'm just a random on the internet, but this channel is not education and is not teaching you anything proper, it's just entertainment for laugh, the mention of science facts is a nice touch but it doesn't make it really educative since these factoids aren't applicable to anything, you're missing the key component to learning which is applying to concepts learnt into problem solving and critical thought, since mat has already done so and preprocessed the answers for you in a flashy and easy to digest way.

I can finally weigh in on a Theorist video!!
Years ago I lived in England, a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, ergo I always wondered in real time, why does Thanksgiving seem to wipe everyone out at the end of the night, and could I counteract it with the one thing that makes everyone's appetite at least peak out from under the coma. Bacon!
AND IT WORKED!! Right after the meal during the partial cleaning/ drink serving phase I took a slab of bacon and threw it in the oven. By the time it came out literally everyone followed their noses, didn't even find the bacon and continued to pile on the Thanksgiving action. So much better than trying to find an out for all of those leftovers.
I didn't understand. They didn't eat the bacon, but they ate the leftovers?
